Info Sheet PowerSTAIRS Software Picture 1 POWERSTAIRS is the ideal CAD for the design of complete stairs or single pieces. With the aid of POWERSTAIRS realizing a staircase is really within everybody s reach; the user doesn t need to draw any part, as he simply has to choose the staircase type and input the proper data (dimensions, etc.). POWERSTAIRS is available in two versions: BASE LEVEL and ADVANCED LEVEL. The BASE LEVEL design flat parts, while the ADVANCED LEVEL elaborate 5 axes curved pieces. Here below a brief description of the main software performances, the following pictures are by way of an example. Page 1 of 17
General details The user s interface is easy, intuitive and the definition of the stair is interactive. The on line user s manual with the index for the research is a very helpful tool. Graphical functions of zoom and pan. Display of the stairs and of single workpieces in all the usual views: front, side, top, etc., also in full screen. Rotation of the point of view. Wire-frame, hidden-lines or solid rendering. Mathematical functions of measure and analysis of the single entities. Every single piece of the stairs can have its own color, in order to better identify all the different components. Types of plan All the staircases can be right or left. Straight: Quarter-turn or L shaped: Page 2 of 17
Half-turn or U shaped: Circular: Page 3 of 17
All the above-said stairs can have rack or boxed stringers; the stringers can also be omitted: Spiral with round plan: Page 4 of 17
Spiral with round plan and stringer: Spiral with square plan: Page 5 of 17
Spiral with square plan and stringer: Spiral with square plan and square central post: Page 6 of 17
All the staircases can or can t have the risers, besides it s possible to define parts of stair with risers and parts without risers: Out of square The external side of straight stairs can be out of square. The external side of every flight of quarter-turn and half-turn stairs can be out of square. The flights of quarter-turn and halfturn stairs can be out of square. Page 7 of 17
Fillets and Chamfers Quarter-turn and half-turn stairs can have the edges joined with a fillet or a chamfer. In particular the external edges, of quarter-turn and half-turn stairs, can have a rectangular slot. Flaring The first part of straight, quarterturn, half-turn and circular stairs can be flared (also in both sides). Treads Straights: Curved: Winders: Balanced: Footpaces: Page 8 of 17
The first tread can be special (bull-nose): Front and back can have the following profiles: o straight o circular o bull-nose They can have a slot for their riser: They can have a return nose in the open stringer side: They can have the holes for the columns: It s possible to define the height of every tread: They can be embedded inside stringers and posts. Page 9 of 17
Risers The first riser can be special: They can be omitted: It s possible to set out the riser of every tread: They can be embedded inside stringers and posts. Page 10 of 17
Stringers Rack: Mixed Boxed: They can be decorated on the side in view: They can have molding on the upper and lower side. The boxed ones can have the holes for the columns. They can be automatically cut when the slope changes: Page 11 of 17
They can be automatically cut when the maximum workable length is reached: Posts They can have round, square or six sides section: They can start from the ground, from a tread or do as junction between stringers: They can be cut not far from the slab and walls: Page 12 of 17
They can be located on the left, on the right or on the middle of the stringer s axis: They can do as junction between handrails or stop underneath. They can have molding on the edges. They can be decorated. The circular central post of a spiral stair can be made of a single piece with treads and risers slots or can be made of spacers (one piece per tread). Handrails They can be omitted. They can be post to post or over the post: They can have volute, twist, easing, ramp and caps: They can have the holes for the columns. Page 13 of 17
They can be automatically cut when the slope changes. They can be automatically cut when the maximum workable length is reached. Covers They can be omitted. They can have the holes for the columns. Cover Columns They can be omitted. They can have round or squared section. Junctions There are junctions between: treads and risers, treads and stringers, stringers and stringers, stringers and posts, handrail and handrail, handrail and posts. Junction between stringers examples: Page 14 of 17
Interactive modification of the curves of stringers and handrails It s possible to manually modify, by the mouse or values, the curves of stringers and handrails (both in plan and from side). Quarter-turn stair development: Treads interactive roto-translation It s possible to manually roto-translate every tread (by the mouse or values): Interactive modify of the treads curve It is possible to manually modify, by the mouse or values, the front part of every tread (the back part is automatically calculated): Page 15 of 17
3D View 3D display of the whole staircase: o wire-frame o hidden-lines o solid Quotes The functions, automatic and manual, to quote the plan and the single workpieces are available: Prints It s possible to print in scale (also 1:1 and with scroll option) the stair plan, all the views of the 3D stair and the single workpieces. POWERSTAIRS generates as well the raw cutting list, the estimate of costs and the order confirmation of the stairs. POWERSTAIRS is able to print using any available printer on Microsoft Windows operating system. DXF export The geometry (junctions included) of all the single workpieces is automatically saved in a DXF file (one for every piece). Models The user can create a library of models of every single stair piece (tread, riser, stringer, handrail, etc.), and a library of stairs models. During the design phase, the user can choose the stairs model, simply insert the dimensions and a few more parameters in order Page 16 of 17
to reach quickly the complete definition of the stairs. The models can than be intended as the catalogue of the stairs. Essential requirements Personal Computer with CPU Pentium II, 128 MB RAM, graphic card OpenGL compatible with 16 MB memory and monitor with 800x600 definition, CD-ROM, 100 MB of free space on the hard disk. It works with Microsoft Windows 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000, XP. StairsCAM In tandem with StairsCAM, POWERSTAIRS automatically generates the NC-programs for the machining of workpieces onboard the machining center.
