How to determine Rivet Length.
What is the correct size drill bit required for blind rivets on the Aluminum bodied Ford F150? 44% 1. 6.0MM 2. Measure diameter of the blind rivet & add point 1mm to it 3. ¼ inch 4. 6.5MM 16% 34% 6% 1 2 3 4
Why is the correct drill size necessary for installing structural rivets. Hole Size Correct hole size is absolutely vital to obtaining maximum holding power from blind rivets. Even a small increase in hole size can result in drastically reduced holding power in both tension and shear. Use the exact specified drill bit and be careful not to 'wobble' while drilling. Change bits often to avoid 'wobble' caused by dull bits.
What is this tool? 94% 1. Dental File 2. Deburring Tool 6% 1 2
Why is Deburring Necessary. If the lip or the burr is not removed, the head of the rivet will not make full contact with the panels that are to be joined. The rivet could become loose and overtime the adhesive could also loose some of strength due to vibration and movement. If the vehicle is again in another collision, this area could become a weak point in the distribution of the collision energy.

What statement is not true? 1. The picture is a cleco pliers and clecos 2. The are set with a 4000lb pressure blind rivet gub 3. They are designed to hold aluminum for alignment
Holding Panel In place using Cleco Fasteners
Steps necessary to prepare aluminum panels for adhesive application. 1. To Insure requires strength and durability, several steps need to be done. 2. Test fit parts using clecos 3. Clean mating surfaces. Clean and remove old adhesive that is attached. 4. Clean again using a wax and grease remover 5. Abrade mating surfaces and remove all OEM applied E-Coat 6. Clean all mating surfaces with a silica stone 7. Apply liquid adhesive primer. 8. Note-Jaguar/Land rover require a Pyrosil Primer Flame Treatment
