Art Syllabus Objectives 1. To nurture an informed awareness and appreciation of the visual arts. 2. To enhance ability to identify and solve problems creatively in visual and tactile forms. 3. The objectives of the syllabus are achieved through the framework of Perceiving, Communicating and Appreciating. Framework Perceiving: 1. Students respond to and interpret visual images and objects sensitively and informatively. 2. Learn to discriminate and make connection between different visual qualities and phenomena. 3. Develop visual awareness and sensitivities that encourage imagination and the generation of ideas. Communicating: 1. Students express their thoughts, experiences and feeling in visual, tactile, oral or literary forms. 2. Involving drawing on ideas, organising information, solving problems and expressing intent and purpose. 3. Develop process skills to reinforce the effectiveness of communicating, through research and exploration. Appreciating: 1. Student value the visual arts as a means of expression. 2. Learn to evaluate and appreciate artworks made by themselves and other artists. 3. To see the connection of the visual arts to their lives and better appreciate its significance in the wider context of culture and society. 4. Studio Practice Engages students in the creation of artworks. Provides opportunities for students to acquire a working understanding of various art elements and principles. Develop competency in manipulating various art media for selfexpression. Explore a good range of media and experiment with different techniques. Preparatory studies are an integral and important part of the Studio Practice. Learn to think through issues and problems and develop the abilities to translate ideas into artwork, through preparatory studies. Study of Visual Arts (SOVA) Emphasises the development of critical thinking skills such as description, analysis, interpretation and evaluation. Provides opportunities to respond to and discover insights from artists/artworks. Develop greater appreciation for the visual arts and students role in society. Assessment Domains: 1. Control the lightness of the lines to differentiate the axis line, outline, structure lines and the details.
