Read this entire Instructin sheet befre beginning s yu can get a feel fr what yu will be ding. If yu take yur time and fllw these instructins yu can d it. We have faith in yu! If yu are installing this kit n a cncrete pati, we advise that yu use a 6X6 Galvanized pst base n each pst secured with ½ red head cncrete anchrs which can be purchased frm us r yur lcal hardware stre. Kit Cmpnents Helper Tls Needed: Hammer Ladder Screw gun (with square drive bit supplied with kit) Pst Hle Digger (If psts will be ging in grund) ¾ Wrench Level Tape measure 6X6 Galvanized pst bases if ging n cncrete Installatin Steps
Step 1- Remve the wrapping frm the utside f the crate Step 2- Lay ut all parts next t where yu will be installing the pergla. Step 3- Place all fur beams n the grund (with the x s facing up) exactly where yu wuld like the pergla t stand like s:! Step 4- Slide tw rafters dwn nt the tw utermst X marks n the beams and get a screw started thrugh the tp f the rafter in the predrilled hles. Screw them in just enugh t hld the rafter in place. Yu may have t mve the back beam arund a little t get it int place. Make sure yu have the rafter n tp f the same mark n bth beams. The X marks lk like this: lxl Step 5- Step back and take a lk t see hw square everything lks. Take a tape measure and hk it n the utside tip f the rafters, and pull the tape t the ppsite crner. Write dwn the measurement. Then hk it n the ther crner and pull t the ppsite crner like this:
Mve the back beam frm side t side until yu have the same measurement bth ways. When yu have the same measurement, it is perfectly square. Helpful Hint: This is dne easier if yu and yur helper bth have a tape measure and pull them acrss at the same time. Step 6- Nw yu can see where yu have t dig yur hles fr each pst. (Or munt yur pst bases if yu re n cncrete.) Lk at the tp f the beam just inside the first rafter where it says pst. If yu are n cncrete, make a mark n the grund directly in the center f the lines where it says pst n all fur crners. If yu are n grass r dirt, stick the flags that are prvided with the kit int the grund n all crners where it says pst. Step 7- Unscrew and take the rafters ff f the beams and mve everything ut f the way. Nw yu shuld be left with fur marks where yur hles r pst bases will g. Step 8- Dig 2 r 4 ft ft deep hles (depending n the depth desired) r install yur pst bases directly ver tp f all 4 f yur markers. Step 9- Lye the fur psts n the grund with the bttms at the edge f each hle, with the tps facing away frm each ther. Like This:
Step 10- Lay ne beam dwn n the grund near the tp f the psts. Slide the psts up and nt the beam between the lines n the beam where it says pst. Step 11-Set the ther beam n tp sandwiching the pst in between the tw beams. Step 12- Place 1 washer n each ½ blt. Lift up the beam assembly enugh t fit the blts between the grund and the beam and insert the blts int the hles frm the bttm. Helpful Hint: Yu may want t use a blck f wd t place n the grund under the blt s yu can push the beam dwn t get the blt t cme up thrugh the hle. Place a washer and nut n each f the blts and make them snug but d nt tighten them dwn yet. Nw yu shuld have this: Step 13- With ne persn n each side, tilt the assembly up and drp the psts int the psthles (r int the pst bases if n cncrete). Have yur helper hld the assembly plumb. (Fr sme f the Bigger size perglas this step may require mre help) Refill the hles arund the psts with dirt r dry cncrete. If yu are using cncrete, d nt water it in yet. Check fr level acrss the tp f the beam and n the sides f the psts. If yu are installing the pergla n tp f a cncrete pati with pst bases, yu will need t prp the assembly up s that it des nt fall. The crate that the kit came in wrks well fr this purpse. Once yu have the bttm f the psts in the pst bases, put ne nail n each side t hld them in place. Step 14- Repeat step 15 fr the ther beam and pst assembly. Step 15- Mve yur stepladder in between the tw sides. Take ne f the rafters and slide it nt the utermst X mark n the beams just like yu did n the grund. Nw mve t the ppsite side and slide anther rafter int psitin n the utermst X mark. Nw yur helper shuld be able t let g f the assembly. Step 16- Install all f the remaining rafters n the remaining X marks and secure them t the beam with 3 deck screws thrugh the predrilled hles. (If n cncrete, nw is the time t finish securing the psts t the bases.)
Step 17- Place the tp slats int psitin in the layut lines acrss the tp f the rafters n the lines labeled with an S and screw them dwn t the rafters. Start n ne side and make yur way acrss t the ther side screwing every ther rafter. Stagger yur screw pattern as pictured belw: Make sure every tp slat is screwed dwn n bth end rafters as pictured. Als make sure yu have the same verhang n all f the tp slats. Be careful screwing the screws in because stainless steel is a sft metal and they strip VERY EASILY! Push dwn hard while screwing them in. There are extra screws in every kit just incase yu strip sme, but if yu need mre yu shuld be able t find them at any lcal hardware stre. Step 18- Check the entire unit fr level and plumb and tighten dwn nuts. Step 19- Install the Angle Braces. Fur f the Angles will g up in between the beams and the ther fur will attach t the inside edge f the utside rafters. I knw this sunds cnfusing, but just take a lk at the picture belw and it will all make sense. T install the first fur angles, slide the crner braces, with the lng side twards the tp, up in between the tw pieces f wd that make up the beam. Get it flush with the tp f the beam and push the bttm side against the pst. Make sure everything is nice and flush t the pst and t the tp f the beam. Screw in tw 3 deck screws thrugh the angle brace int the pst thrugh the predrilled hles, then screw the tp thrugh the face f the beam int the angle with 4-3 deck screws. (There are n predrilled hles in the face f the beam) Repeat fr three mre angle braces. Then, with the next fur angles, place the angle against the pst with the lng side up against the inside f the first rafter. Screw int the pst thrugh the predrilled hles at the bttm end that is against the pst. Screw 4 screws thrugh the tp f the angle and int the rafter bard. Repeat fr the rest f the angle braces. Step 20- Water in the cncrete r dirt. Be sure nt t push the unit arund while the cncrete is curing (abut 24 hurs). Yu re Dne! Thanks again fr yur business. Pst Base Installatin: Place the pst bases n the cncrete in the exact psitin where they will be installed. Find the center f the hle n the bttm f the base and drill int the cncrete with a 5/8 cncrete drill bit at least 4 deep. Place the washer and nut n the cncrete anchr, place the flared end int the hle in the cncrete, and hammer it dwn until it is against the pst base. Tighten dwn with a 3 4 wrench until it is snug.
