DEPARTMENT F-3 ART AND PHOTOGRAPHY (Exhibiting rules and regulations, page 3) Guidelines 1. Please read and follow all Rules and Regulations listed on page 3 of the Fair Book. Remember that all exhibits must remain in place until 9 p.m. Saturday. Exhibitors must be responsible for their entries at close of show! Items may be lost or destroyed if left. 2. This department is divided into two sections: Section I is Art, Section II is Photography. There are five divisions: Ages 5 and under; ages 6-9; ages 10-14; ages 15-18 and ages 19 and above. 3. NUMBER OF ENTRIES IS LIMITED. An exhibitor may enter a total of 4 items in Art and 4 items in Photography. You may enter only 1 item in any one class. Works may not be exhibited as miscellaneous if there is a definite category listed. Three-dimensional exhibits will not be accepted. 4. All entries should be matted or framed. Entries without mats may be stapled to the display unit. Framed entries must have a hanging device that can be hooked over a 3/8" peg hook. Wire, string or mono-filament must be firmly attached--not ATTACHED WITH TAPE. Do not use a frame that is not designed to hang on a wall. Pictures that are larger than 20 x 20 with a glass cover are very difficult to hang. These pictures may be set on the floor. 5. Judges will award Best in Show and Runner-Up ribbons in Divisions 2, 3, 4 & 5 for both Art and Photography. 6. Prize Money Best in Show and Runner-Up: Adults $10/$5; Intermediate (Ages 15-18 and Ages 10-14) $7.50/$3.50; Junior (Ages 6-9) $5/$2.50. Blue Ribbon: Adults $3; Intermediate (Ages 15-18 and Ages 10-14) $2.50; Junior (Ages 6-9 and 5 & under) $2. Red Ribbon: Adults $2.50; Intermediate (Ages 15-18 and Ages 10-14) $2.; Junior (Ages 6-9 and 5 & under) $1.50. White Ribbon: Adults $2.; Intermediate (Ages 15-18 and Ages 10-14) $1.50; Junior (Ages 6-9 and 5 & under) $1. Section I. Art 1. All entries in the Art section must be original creations by the exhibitor. 2. Pictures created by coloring in outlines will be accepted only in the ages 5 and under Division. 3. Art created on the computer may ONLY be entered in the Computer Art class. It must be an original drawing created by the exhibitor. It may be color or black & white and may be supplemented by additional mediums. 4. Exhibits will be judged on originality, creativity, design, technique and individuality. Miscellaneous Section II. Photography 1. Entries in the Photography section may be either color or black and white. 2. The photographs MUST be taken by the person who exhibits them. 3. Besides basic processing such as adjustment of brightness, contrast, color and sharpness, digital manipulations are not allowed except in the Special Effects class. 4. The Still Life class consists of artistic images that showcase lines, patterns, shape and perspective. 5. The Picture Story class should consist of 2 to 6 pictures in one frame up to 20"x24". 6. The distinction between landscape and general outdoor scene will be made as follows: General Outdoor Scene can include people and has a focus on activity, while Landscape shall focus solely on the natural view or lay of the land. 7. Any process may be used for the Humor class. Make us laugh! 8. Photographs will be judged on composition, lighting, focus, impact, technique and individuality.
