GIPA Indoor Drumline Competition Saturday, February 4, 2017 Hosted by North Gwinnett Band Parents Association 20 Level Creek Road Suwanee, Georgia 30024 Thank you for attending the GIPA Indoor Drumline Competition hosted by the North Gwinnett Band Parents Association. We hope your day with us will be exciting and memorable. This Welcome Packet is designed to answer your questions about how our contest will be organized and to assist you with navigating to North Gwinnett High School and around the North Gwinnett Campus. ADMISSION: Tickets may be purchased at registration or at the ticket table in the Main Gym (see enclosed campus map). The cost is $9.00 per person. Children under age 4 are Free. GIPA badges will be honored for circuit members. SEATING: Spectator seating will be on a first come, first served basis on the front side of the gym. Performers are encouraged to support all units, but may be requested to move to the backside of the gym to allow for spectator seating. UNIT PARKING: Parking for 18 wheeler equipment trailers will be located in the bus lane immediately behind the stadium (enter from West Price Road). Parking for all other equipment trucks will be in the parking lot directly across from the stadium on West Price Road. There will be an unloading area in the front of the main building for groups arriving in car pools and buses. After unloading we would ask that you move your cars to the spectator lot directly across the street from the drop off area. Buses please park in the lot across from the stadium on on West Price Road. SPECTATOR PARKING: Spectator parking will be available in the front parking lot across from the main entrance to the school. Overflow parking is available in the parking lot on West Price Road, across from the football stadium. INCLEMENT WEATHER: In the event of inclement weather, please go to the North Gwinnett Band website www.northgwinnettband.com or the GIPA Facebook page for updates. If the weather is poor, Drumlines will unload equipment in front of the Commons Area to the left of the Main (enter from Level Creek Road - see campus map). MOST OF OUR CAMPUS IS OUTDOORS. PLEASE TAKE PRECAUTIONS FOR RAINY WEATHER. BRING TARPS WITH YOU!

REGISTRATION: Unit Registration will begin Saturday, at 9:00 am and will be located in the Main in front of the school. Signs will be posted accordingly. Please arrive at least 1 hour prior to scheduled warm-up. EQUIPMENT: Floors and props can be stored outside the Main Gym (weather permitting) or in the Auxiliary Gym, along the perimeter of the room. Equipment unloading procedures and routes to/from performance/warm-up areas will be reviewed at registration as last minute changes may be necessary. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO BRING SOME TARPS TO COVER FLOORS AND PROPS IN CASE OF RAIN. FLOOR SIZE: The maximum allowable tarp size for any unit is 60 x 90. INSPECTION: Props and equipment must be taped and padded so as not to damage the floor. Performers must wear shoes at all times when not in the competition area. Penalties will be assessed for violation of this rule. Floor carts can be used. TABULATION/JUDGING AREA: Please do not enter the tabulation area or communicate with the judges. Commentary will be available via CompetitionSuite shortly after your unit s performance. Score sheets and recap will be available at the tabulation table after retreat. TIME LINE: We will have a horizontal time line. From the judge s perspective, units will enter from the right rear and exit to the left front. The floor will be pulled from right to left and from the rear sideline to the front. Upon entry you may pull the floor to the halfway point, and then await notification from the timing judge to proceed. WARM-UP AREA: Warm-ups will be located in the Band Room and Chorus Room. Practice is not allowed elsewhere inside the buildings. Warm-ups can be also be done outside on the stadium track, weather permitting. FLOOR FOLDING: Floor folding will be done in the Auxiliary Gym. FIRST AID: The first aid station will be located on the top floor of the Main Gym behind the Director s Hospitality Suite. Signs will be posted directing you to this area. DIRECTOR S HOSPITALITY: The hospitality room will be open to GIPA ID holders and directors. It will be located on the second floor of the Main Gym, behind the concession stand. CRITIQUE: Staff/Judges critique will be held in the multi-purpose room next to the auxiliary gym DIRECTIONS: From I-85: Take Exit 111 (Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road) and head northwest on Lawrenceville- Suwanee Road. Continue for 2 miles to Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. When you cross Peachtree Industrial Boulevard the road name changes to Suwanee Dam Road. Equipment trailers and trucks: Continue on Suwanee Dam Road for 2.6 miles to West Price Road (you will go past NGHS). Take a sharp right onto West Price Road. The entrance to the unloading and parking area will be on your right as you approach the stadium.

Participants and Spectators: From Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, continue another 2.3 miles on Suwanee Dam Road to Level Creek Road. Turn right onto Level Creek Road and follow the signs for participant unloading and spectator parking. From GA 400: Take Exit 20 (GA 20) and head east on GA 20. Continue on GA 20 for 5.7 miles then turn right onto Suwanee Dam Road. Equipment trailers and trucks: Continue on Suwanee Dam Road for 2.4 miles then take a slight left onto West Price Road. The entrance to the unloading area will be on your right as you approach the stadium. Participants and Spectators: From GA 20, continue on Suwanee Dam Road for 2.7 miles to Level Creek Road. Turn left onto Level Creek Road and follow signs to participant drop off and spectator parking.
