Moderator Bio Cheryl Niro is the Senior Strategy Advisor to the Executive Director of the American Bar Association. Previously Cheryl was the managing director of RobinsonNiro Professionalism Consulting. She served as the inaugural Executive Director of the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism, where she designed and implemented programs to encourage and enhance professional conduct by Illinois lawyers. Prior to her appointment Ms. Niro was a partner in the Chicago firm of Quinlan & Carroll, Ltd. where she was engaged in litigation, mediation and arbitration. A recognized leader of the bar, Ms. Niro has an extensive record of accomplishment in the ABA, serving in the House of Delegates as the President of its National Conference of State Bar Associations. Ms. Niro was the second woman elected to serve as President of the Illinois State Bar Association (1999 2000). She is a recognized mediator of complex disputes, and has trained judges and lawyers at Harvard Law School and other professional programs across the country to successfully negotiate and mediate. Faculty Bios Andrea Hartley is a partner and chair of the Bankruptcy & Reorganization Practice Group at AkermaninMiami,FL.SheservedasNationalChairoftheAmericanBarAssociation'sLawPractice Management Section, which is comprised of 17,000 members. Andrea is the past Chair of the ABA Women Rainmakers, a Fellow of the ABA, and immediate past President of the Dade County Bar Association. Andrea has extensive experience in a wide range of bankruptcy and insolvency matters including business reorganizations and liquidations, workouts, debt restructurings, assignments for the benefit of creditors and creditors' rights. She regularly represents lenders, secured and unsecured creditors, commercial landlords, suppliers, vendors, official committees, and purchasers of troubled companies and their assets, both in and out of bankruptcy court. Carolina Y. Sales is a partner at Bauch & Michaels, LLC, in Chicago, IL, where she concentrates her practice on commercial litigation, business workouts, and reorganizations. She has extensive experience representing debtors and creditors in post judgment supplementary collection proceedings and mortgage foreclosures. Ms. Sales has been involved in numerous Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy cases for individuals and businesses. She was a member of the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges (NCBJ) Next Generation Program class of 2014, and she co authored the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education s (IICLE) chapter on individual Chapter 11 cases. In 2005, Ms. Sales obtained her J.D. cum laude from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois. She worked as an extern in the Circuit Court of Cook County for various judges hearing foreclosure cases and later conducted training sessions for new judicial externs.
