The embroidery needed a wash-away stabilizer to create the lace, so the garment also needed to be washable. We remembered to examine seam construction: thick flat-felled seams would not work well for cutwork being embroidered over the seam. If needed, designs could be arranged next to seams. Our search ended with the discovery of this jacket: clean styling, perfect panels for embroidery, rich saturated indigo coloring, and an added bonus; a faux fur collar. Plan and Prepare for Embroidery Optional: Use the Edit Express software to recolor the designs. The black faux fur collar and silvery buttons helped direct our thread color selection of black, grey, and silver metallic threads; the software helped narrow the grey color choices, before stitching a test sample. Save the edited designs to a flash drive, memory card, computer, or directly to your embroidery machine. Stabilize the test sample fabric with Terial Magic, following manufacturer s instructions. Hoop fabric with two layers of washaway non-woven stabilizer and embroider an edited design. Cut away excess stabilizer and rinse away remaining stabilizer, following product instructions to thoroughly test before beginning garment embroidery. Add any notes, suggestions, and future ideas to an Embroidery Reference Card. Select desired embroidery designs; our jacket features design #s: 101, 102, 106, 109, 115, 116, 135, and LCLFREE1, LCLFREE2, and LCLFREE3. You can find the free downloadable designs here. Note: Translucent Foundation Paper is one of our favorite products for templates. The paper is easy to see through, making it ideal for aligning or nesting designs. Flip the template over for an instant mirror-image. Trim away excess paper from around the design for precise arranging. Position printed templates on the garment. When you like the final arrangement, secure the templates in place with straight pins or Sewer s Fix It Tape. Print additional templates as needed to complete the design layout for back and front of your garment. 2018, Nancy s Notions ; 333 Beichl Ave., PO Box 683; Beaver Dam WI 53916-0683
