JED-464 : 2003-07 Page 2 1 Scope This specification defines the dimensions of tapped holes and shows the representation of dimensioning in the Component, Blank and Outline Drawings. Tapped holes, as defined in this specification, with a conical sealing surface, of the metric series, used in pneumatic braking systems on road vehicles using compressed air at a pressure below 2 MPa (20 bar) are designed for couplings according to the system of the PARKER, RAUFOSS and ANOFLEX Companies. This specification corresponds to ISO 4039-2:1998 The previous issue of this specification (1985-11) contained dimensions as defined by Renault. The difference between the two versions consists in the increased length of the 10 countersinking, e.g. 2,4 mm instead of 2,0 mm for dimension M22 x 1,5. 1.1 Allocation of the JED Numbers In old documents (approx. 1985 to 2002), the standard JED-464 is indicated. In these cases, manufacture may also be made in accordance with the JED-464-0 which is newly defined in the present document. In all documents to be newly created or revised, JED-464-0 has to be indicated in order to clearly show the relation with the current version of the company standard. 2 General The dimensions apply to machining. The tapped holes made in accordance with the present specification are also suited for pipe couplings with flat gaskets or WABCO thrust ring and O-ring, provided that the male fitting has the profile defined in ISO 4039-2: issue 1998, ISO 6149-2: issue 1993-11 or DIN 3852-1 - Form A: issue 2002-05.

If a deviating tolerance is required for machining, the indication has to be e.g. M22 x 1,5-6e / JED-464-0 D 7 has to be selected in accordance with the desired nominal width. In the lower third (no O-ring contact!) of the O-ring sealing surface, tooling marks are acceptable.

JED-464 : 2003-07 Page 5 4 Representation on Drawings The representations of holes in the documents have to show the finished condition which is stored as UDF (User Defined Feature) in the Pro/E (3D-CAD) repetition part database. The arrangement of the designation of thread on the projection line may be chosen, but the allocation has to be clear. 4.1 Representation on the Outline Drawing, Document Code 605/653 On customers request, tapped holes shall be indicated in the Outline Drawing only with their nominal diameter and reference to JED-464-0, e. g. M22x1,5 / JED-464-0 The arrangement of these indications in a table including additional data may be useful.
JED-464 : 2003-07 Page 6 4.2 Representation on the Sectional Drawing, Document Code 606/652 and Component Drawing, Document Code 607/651 On request of the Orderfulfilment Process, tapped holes shall be represented in the Sectional Drawing and Component Drawing only with the indication of the contour, nominal diameter and reference to JED-464-0, e. g. M22 x 1,5 / JED-464-0
JED-464 : 2003-07 Page 7 5 Minimum Center Spacing of Tapped Holes The indications of minimum center spacing L refer to straight male stud couplings and double-end flat flare nut wrenches according to DIN 3118. Deviating values (which might, for instance, be due to lower material strength of the body, e.g. plastic material) have to be indicated. 6.2 Maximum Permissible Tightening Torques for the Coupling On the Outline Drawings and Sectional Drawings, the tightening torque and the tolerance have to be indicated at all tapped holes shown with the fitting. The indications, maintenance and assembly instructions of the individual fitting manufacturers have to be observed.
