Gave a fun and interesting presentation and trunk show featuring some twists on the Dresden Plate. They displayed quilts that used the new double wide Dresden ruler, paper piecing, and applique in a variety of techniques, fabrics, and sizes. A new project that will be offered is A Star a Day, work all done by hand. Linda and Teri are also looking forward to their trunk show from Wilmington Prints and Wilmington Batiks on July 7 and 8. Their fabric rep, Tim Prowse will have many quilts. Registration is required and door prizes for all who attend. Debra Rubles will be in attendance and will discuss her book, How Fabrics are Made. Upcoming QGIS Programs: July 27 th - Laura Welkin will be presenting a power point program and display of quilts entitled My Quilting Journey. She learned to sew at a young age with the help of two excellent seamstresses, her mother and grandmother. She has made many clothes, doll clothes, pillows, curtains and recently reupholstered a loveseat. Laura joined the Quilters Guild of Indianapolis in 2007. She entered her first guild show that year and was awarded first place in the appliqued bed quilt category. She was hooked! She won some ribbons at a few regional shows but the more notable awards came in the past few years when she started making miniature quilts. Her miniatures have won first place in Houston in both 2014 and 2015 and a third place in 2016. At the Paducah show she won a third place in 2014, first in 2015 and Best of Show Miniature in 2016 for her quilt, Daisy Chain. That quilt is now on display at the National Quilt Museum. We are going to have an interesting meeting next month. Don t miss it. From the Roving Reporter Submitted by Carol Victory POHLAR FABRICS August 2017 Wow is all the Roving Reporter can say about the new Pohlar Fabrics location! I was on a shop hop with my bee and we visited Pohlar Fabrics in Liberty, IN. Pohlar Fabrics has been in business for 30 years and moved into the new building on West Coe Road, seven miles south of Liberty, on January 3, 2017. The new building is four times larger and has ~7,000 bolts, a large selection of patterns, precuts and notions, kits and Mettler, Aurifil Signature and Valdani (large and small spools) threads. There are samples all over the shop to tempt everyone. Workshops are also offered. They carry Bernina sewing and longarm machines and service all makes. They are also an Accucut dealer. They also offer longarm quilting service. If you visit Pohlar Fabrics, plan to stop in Liberty at El Reparo a really good Mexican restaurant. Shop staff recommended it and we were very glad we stopped there.
