No registration required, free for all ages. July 6: Instagram Do you know how social media and smartphone technology is influencing art? In July, learn how to use the Instagram app to make beautiful photographs and artwork. August 3: Photobooth Learn about the inner workings of our photobooth, and how Andy Warhol used photobooth images to produce many of his iconic screenprints. Make and take your own piece of photobooth art. September 7: Scarecrow workshop Learn how to make your own scarecrow, and enter it in Spring Hill s Fall Fest competition! Bring old clothes and any other materials you might like to use in your scarecrow. Artist Kaitlyn Gutshall will teach you how make wheel projects from start to finish. This class is open to all abilities, new and continuing. Besides throwing pots, you will also learn about the firing and glazing process. Clay and access to tools will be provided to complete all projects for class. NEW! Open Studio Ceramics Wednesdays July 10, 17, 24, 31, 10am-4pm Wednesdays August 7, 14, 21, 28, 10am-4pm Wednesdays September 4, 11, 18, 25, 10am-4pm Open to previous MassMu ceramics students only. Use the Ceramics Room, tools, glazes and kilns to create your own works of art. You may use the room during any of the open hours, the class time is intended to be flexible to accommodate a variety of schedules. Bring in your own clay to use or purchase a 25lb. bag for $15. Class size limited to 6, Cost: members/$40, non-members/$50 Intro to Digital Photography Saturdays July 6, 13, 20, 27, 10am-12pm (4 weeks) Saturdays August 3, 10, 17, 24,10am-12pm (4 weeks) Saturdays September 7, 14, 21, 28, 10am-12pm (4 weeks) Artist and University of Akron professor Jody Hawk will introduce students to the basics of digital photography using point and shoot cameras, the standard digital cameras most of us have. Learn how to take better pictures, improving composition and exposure without a manual control. Use of your own digital camera is required, and access to a laptop computer is highly recommended to get the most out of this class. NEW! Children ages 12 and over may sign up for this class accompanied by an adult who is also taking the class. Class size limited to 12, Cost: members/$50, nonmembers/$60 Advanced Adult Digital Photography Saturdays August 3, 10, 17, 24, 1-3pm (4 weeks) Saturdays September 7, 14, 21, 28, 1-3pm (4 weeks) This is for people who already have nice photographs, but want to make presentations to show off their images to friends and family or professionals. Students will make well edited and organized slide shows, post images on the web, make a simple web page, organize and enter contests or competitions. Every student will need a laptop, tablet or netbook for this class. Class size limited to 12, Cost: members/$50, non-members/$60

A La Carte Workshops, all ages You set the time and date, and bring the students, we provide the supplies and staff! Bring your family or friends. Great for a birthday gift, clubs, family fun day, girl s night out, or any other group! Classes are open to everyone. Children (under the age of 16) must be accompanied by a guardian and both must register/participate in the workshop. Making Memories: Baby & Child Celebrate your baby or child with a ceramic handprint and footprint tile. A fun project for parents or guardians and child. Museum staff will lead you in creating a unique print using your children s hands and feet in clay. Personalize the tile with their name and other decorations. The tile will be fired and glazed and ready for pick up within a week. Makes a great decoration or gift. Size: 5-12 students, Time: 1 hour, Cost: $25 non-members, $20 members Painting Learn the basics of painting! An artist will work with you to teach you the fundamentals of how to use water based paints (watercolors or acrylics) and brushes on canvas or paper. This workshop lasts 3 hours, subsequent workshops may be scheduled with your group if you d like to produce consistent work over several weeks. All materials are included in the class. Mixed Media Learn the basics of mixed media! An artist will teach you how to combine multiple artistic materials, including layering paint, collage, textiles and more, to create a work of art on canvas or board. This workshop lasts 3 hours, subsequent workshops may be scheduled with your group if you d like to produce consistent work over several weeks. All materials are included in the class. Screen Printing Learn the basics of screen printing! An artist will teach you the fundamentals of how to create designs, transfer them onto screens, and then use the screens with our screen printing machine to print onto fabric, paper and more. This workshop lasts 2 hours, and subsequent workshops may be scheduled with your group if you d like to produce your own screens and use our equipment. You will be given a selection of museum related designs to print on paper. If you d like to print on any other materials (clothing, etc.) please bring those to class with you. Size: 5-12 students, Time: 2 hours, Cost: $25 non-members, $20 members Printmaking Learn the basics of printmaking! Printmaking allows you to produce numerous copies from your original creation and can involve tracing, drawing, collaging, carving or engraving. An artist will teach you the fundamentals of making relief prints and collographs. This workshop lasts 3 hours, subsequent workshops may be scheduled with your group if you d like to produce consistent work over several weeks. All materials are included in the class. Pottery Wheel Learn the basics of working with the pottery wheel. Everyone will take home some ceramic work as a souvenir. This workshop lasts 3 hours, subsequent workshops may be scheduled with your group if you d like to produce a work over several weeks, and regularly scheduled introductory and continuing wheel classes are also available. All materials are included in the class Size: 4 students, Time: 3 hours, Cost: $25 non-members, $20 members

Free parking is available on the streets around the Museum (First Street, Lincoln Way) and in the city lots on the corner opposite the Museum, at First Street and Lincoln Way East, or behind Duncan Plaza which is adjacent to the Museum, on the corner of 2 nd Street and Treemont Avenue.
