Background The Naracoorte Lucindale Council is focused on bringing greater economic and community benefit to the local area from the iconic Naracoorte Caves. As home to South Australia s only World Heritage site Naracoorte is a unique destination for visitors in the Limestone Coast. The Naracoorte Caves are World Heritage listed due to the importance of the fossils the Caves contain Australia s richest record of megafauna fossils. By leveraging value from the Caves and making the most of what we have at the Caves, we attract more visitors and everyone s business can benefit. At the Caves Connection Business Workshop held on 9 November business ideas were brainstormed that use or leverage Naracoorte s proximity to the World Heritage listed Naracoorte Caves. The criteria was fun, interesting, achievable ideas to connect Naracoorte to the Caves that will grow tourism and our visitor economy. Ideas were focused on food and beverage, tours and experiences, events and public space, accommodation and souvenirs and gifts. A once-off $3,000 cash prize will be awarded to the individual, business or organisation located in the Naracoorte Lucindale Council area that is the first to generate $1,000 in sales from one of the listed business ideas or another new Caves related business idea. Encourage the implementation of another new idea that connects Naracoorte to the Caves that will grow tourism and our visitor economy and is linked to one of the five themes Prize Offering A once-off $3,000 cash prize will be awarded to the individual, business or organisation located in the Naracoorte Lucindale Council area that is the first to generate $1,000 in sales from any of the listed ideas or another new Caves related business idea. Terms and Conditions: To be eligible you must meet the following terms and conditions: 1. You must be an individual, business or organisation located in the Naracoorte Lucindale Council area 2. The individual, business or organisation must register to participate in the competition registrations will be accepted up until 1 April 2018 or until the prize is claimed, whichever occurs first 3. You must implement one new business idea that connects Naracoorte to the Caves that will grow tourism and our visitor economy and is linked to one of the five themes 3. Sales must occur between 1 January 2018 to 30 April 2018 4. You must keep a record of sales and dollars generated during the competition period 5. More than one business idea can be registered but sales evidence for each idea will need to be provided separately, ie each idea is assessed on its individual sales 6. To be considered for the prize a final report with evidence of sales and dollars generated must be submitted once $1,000 in sales is achieved and no later than 31 May 2018 or until the prize is claimed, whichever occurs first 7. The competition ceases when the prize is awarded, at which time all registered individual, business or organisation will be advised that the prize has been award The following type of business ideas are not eligible, ideas that: 1. commenced prior to the Caves Connection Business Workshop held on 9 November 2018 2. do not fit within the objective of connecting Naracoorte to the Caves that will grow tourism and our visitor economy 3. contravene Council policies and regulations and other legislation 4. are socially or environmentally irresponsible, illegal, malicious or discriminatory Naracoorte Lucindale Council 5
Assessment Process 1. Registrations are received by Council up until the prize is claimed and no later than 1 April 2018. 2. Registrations will be assessed as they are received against the objectives and terms and conditions. 3. Registrations that meet the objectives and terms and conditions will be advised that they are eligible for the prize. 4. The first registered and approved business idea that provides a final report with evidence of achieving $1,000 in sales will be paid the cash prize. 5. Final reports will be received until the prize is awarded or until close of business on 31 May 2018, whichever occurs first. 6. The decision of Council will be final. No rights exist for appeal.
