We aim to build mutually beneficial relationships with our clients through the quality of our service and solutions. Maccaferri Group is present in all five continents and brings its technology to the most advanced industrial markets in over 100 countries around the world. Maccaferri s engineering culture can trace its roots to the year 1550 in Italy when a young man named Johannes was apprenticed to an ironworker in Sacerno. He soon acquired the nickname 'Maccaferri'; literally 'He who strikes iron'. The foundry in which he worked made wrought iron products for the surrounding principalities. These principalities would eventually combine to form the country we now know as Italy. Founded in 1879, Maccaferri made its first products hand-weaving wire into fences and a brand new 'gabion'. Indeed Maccaferri is credited with being the inventor of the modern gabions, with a patent granted to Maccaferri in the late 1890s. The first gabion retaining structure was built in 1893 to retain the river banks of the River Reno at Caselecchio. It took 650 workers, 34 days to install the 2,900 gabions and it still functions to this day! Later that year, a flatter 'gabion mattress' was fabricated for soil erosion control on the River Reno. The term Reno Mattress was born and remains a Maccaferri trademark to this day. Since these innovative beginnings, Maccaferri has continued to grow from strength to strength. The Maccaferri Industrial Group remains a family owned industrial conglomerate. Maccaferri offers solutions for the construction market in over 100 countries. Our organizational structure has been designed to be global and local at the same time; it is made up of subsidiary companies who manufacture, design and install solutions throughout the world. Our continued growth is still based upon the same philosophy - to offer high quality, durable and environmentally sensitive solutions. Our heritage has helped us gain a profound understanding of our environment which is reflected in the solutions we offer our clients. Page 3 Engineering a better solution 3
M (P), I. The Philippine market has been catered to by Maccaferri since 1970. FF Cruz was our very first customer utilizing double-twist steel mesh gabions. Since 2002 Officine Maccaferri operated through its exclusive distributor, Philippine Gabions, Inc. (PGI). On incorporation of the majority owned local distribution subsidiary, Maccaferri (Philippines), Inc. (MPI), the management and staff of PGI were integrated into the new company assuring local customers of a continuation of the high levels of service and support they were accustomed to in the past. MPI employs a workforce of over 20 and operates from its head office in Makati City and its warehouse facility in Muntinlupa City. Maccaferri Philippines fields highly skilled sales and technical teams to assist clients and ensure project requirements are fully addressed. We are not merely a materials supplier; rather a complete solution provider in areas of erosion control, river bank protection, retaining structures, channel lining, rock fall protection, mining and tunneling. Projects are supported from initial design through installation to completion. Our proprietary design software allows us to present solutions to environmental engineering challenges whilst optimizing the use of our mesh products, geosynthetics, modular concrete blocks, etc. Maccaferri s solutions minimize environmental impact and preserve the ecological balance. Maccaferri (Philippines), Inc. and our other principals are committed to quality. Our products are manufactured under ISO 9001 Quality Management System. Engineering a better solution Page 4
