WHAT YOU WILL NEED To take part you will need a fully painted 150 pt Deadzone Strike Team. You will also need the following items with you on the day: Deadzone rulebook 8-sided dice and Deadzone Command dice Deadzone Counter Set At least 2 copies of your Strike Team list Pen/pencil for completing results at the end of each round We will provide and set-up all the mats and scenery for the even. Building your Strike Team It is our belief at Mantic that a big part of the joy of the hobby is about using wonderfully painted miniatures to play wargames. Nothing beats that moment when you see your Strike Team all ready for battle, then your eyes look over at your opponent s force and you start thinking about how you can be victorious. The better those teams and the scenery look, the better the game experience. Both miniature companies and hobbyists invest a lot of time and money to make their games special, and we believe our premium events are about showing off and celebrating this great effort. So we have a few rules for the prestige events that we run, but do remember this is just for our organized events. When you are at home, or with your club, please enjoy the game however you want it s your hobby time. And of course individual event organizers will have their own rules, so check out their OP pack. Strike Team Composition. You and your gaming partner each bring a Strike Team; this will total 200 points You can spend up to 100 points on your individual Strike Team following the Building your own Strike Team section of the Deadzone rule book (p46) You can also use the Elite Army lists from the Infestation and Nexus Psi supplements Team Lists You are required to submit a copy of your Strike Team List to the organisers at the start of the tournament. You should also have at least one copy for yourself and another spare for your opponents to reference on request. Using a program or list-builder application to create and print out your sheet is often the best option. Your list must include: All of the miniatures in your Strike Team. The equipment and the points value of everything in your Strike Team. Your name on all copies of the list. Please do not use acronyms on any copy of your list. If any mistakes are found during the tournament that were not picked up on, the results of all the games in which the player has used the illegal list will immediately be changed to 20-0 VP s, in favour of their opponent. This will apply even if the mistake was a totally honest one, so please do double check your list before the tournament. If you are unsure of your Strike Team list, please feel free to submit it to the tournament organisers prior to the event for checking. Deadzone: Double-kill Page 2

Alliances There are two aspects we will consider when allying Strike Teams, namely Command Dice, and Strained Relationships. FACTION ALLIES STRAINED Asterians Enforcers, GCPS, Rebels Forge Fathers, Marauders Enforcers Forge Fathers, GCPS, Marauders Asterians Forge Fathers Enforcers, GCPS, Rebels Asterians, Marauders GCPS Enforcers, Forge Fathers, Marauders Asterians Marauders Asterians, Enforcers, Forge Fathers, GCPS, Plague, Rebels Veer-myn Plague Marauders, Veer-myn Rebels Asterians, Forge Fathers, Marauders Veer-myn Veer-myn Marauders Plague, Rebels Note that the relationships are not necessarily mirrored. For example, during a Fight action, Asterians will not benefit from friendly Marauder models, though the Marauder will benefit from friendly Asterians! Command Dice Each unique Strike Team rolls their Command Dice as usual. No Strike Team may use another player s results, not even for their Army Special Result. Tactician (n) only applies to the unique Strike Team and should the player lose their Tactician, then they lose the additional dice as per normal play. Strained Relationships Should two Strike Teams be of the same Faction (e.g. Enforcers and Enforcers) then there are no penalties. Should they be of a different Faction (e.g. Enforcers and GCPS) then there may be penalties, or they may be disallowed to ally. In all cases, models from the same side count towards the cube capacity of 4. From the chart above we have two results: Allies and Strained: Allies. Abilities that are specific to a Faction only affect that Faction. Abilities that would only affect your Strike Team cannot affect an allied Strike Team. Strained. For the Fight Action, only count the +1 dice for friendly models if they are from the same Strike Team. For the Shoot Action, use Friendly Fire -1 Dice. Deadzone: Double-kill Page 3

Miniatures When it comes to playing Deadzone, we fully understand it is up to you what you use to represent your Strike Team when you play at home or your local club. However, for our events, part of the majesty of taking part is playing against beautifully painted miniatures that represent the force you are fighting against. To ensure this happens, we have the following rules to help you plan, build and paint your Strike Team. All the miniatures in your collection need to be Mantic miniatures. They also need to be completely assembled, based and painted, to ensure everyone taking part gets the best experience on the day. Conversions are perfectly acceptable, and encouraged, to ensure your Strike Team stands out. Just remember, each miniature must be instantly recognisable to your opponent as to what it represents. If you have converted and painted something wonderful we want you to include it in your force. See below about contacting the Tournament Organiser if you need to check anything. The miniatures you use must clearly represent the units in your army. Follow the what you see is what you get approach when building and painting your army. It needs to be clear to all your opponents what your miniatures are representing and what they are armed with. (You can t use Enforcer Pathfinders to represent Forge Father Steel Warriors, as an example). Models must be based on the appropriate base size, basically the base supplied with that miniature. If the Tournament Organiser sees any miniatures that don t fit the above criteria, you will be asked to remove them from the table and use miniatures that meet these rules. If you are not too sure (and want to avoid being asked to remove miniatures from the table on the day), you can send a message and pictures of what you want to include on your strike team to us and the Tournament Organiser will let you know if it s suitable or not. Send your image(s) to support@manticgames.com Painting To make sure the experience for all involved is great, we do ask that your Strike Team is fully painted and based. All the miniatures in your Strike Team should be painted in at least 3 colours. All bases should be painted and/or finished with basing material. We will ask any miniatures that aren t fully painted to be removed. But we will also provide the opportunity and space for you to finish painting your Strike Team so you can continue in the rest of the tournament with all your miniatures. GAME TIME AND VICTORY CONDITIONS The tournament consists of four games played in one day. Each round lasts 90 minutes. This includes time to set-up, to play the game, and record the results. Start End Registration 09:30 10:00 Game 1 10:00 11:30 Game 2 11:45 13:15 Lunch 13:15 14:00 Game 3 14:00 15:30 Game 4 15:45 17:15 Awards 17:30 17:45 Game Sequence At the start of each round, the Tournament Organiser will randomly determine and announce which of the Missions will be used by everyone for that game. Missions will be chosen from P. 40 of the Deadzone rulebook, along with the Occupy mission included in this pack, and each Mission will be used once. Meet your opponent at the table and introduce yourself. Sit on your own side of the table and set-up your Strike Team on your side of the table, so your opponent can see it, and your Strike Team list, and ask any questions. Use the terrain as it is laid out on the table. Place Objective Markers, and Item Counters. Recon and Deploy. Determine starting player and deploy your Strike Teams. Players should also discuss before the game how they will deal with cocked dice and in what circumstances they should be re-rolled. Start playing your game The game ends when 1 or both players have at least 20 VP s at the end of the round, or after the 10 minute warning. When there is 10 minutes remaining in each round, the tournament organizer will call last turn. At this point, finish the Round you are playing (take turns activating all the remaining models) and end the game. The player with the most Victory Points is the winner of the game, in the case of a tie the game is a draw. Both teams then need to fill in the score slip with the TPs and VPs they each scored. Hand this in to the tournament organisers. Deadzone: Double-kill Page 5

Tournament Points After a game the Tournament Points (TP s) will be assigned as follows: Result TPs Win 4 Draw 2 Loss 0 Allocating Opponents The match-ups of the first round (Game 1) will be random. From the second game, players will be paired using a Swiss system (i.e. matching players based on their TPs, in descending order). In the case of more than two players being on the same number of TPs, players will then be matched in order of descending VP s, and then number of kills. Winning the Tournament The winner is determined at the end of the last game, according to the following criteria: The team with the most TP s will be the winner In the case of teams having the same highest TP s, the winner will be the team with the highest VP Score. Finally, if the players still cannot be split, we will compare the total number of kills. Deadzone: Double-kill Page 6

OTHER INFO Please note the following points. There will also be a brief at the start of the event to cover everything else you need to know. Rules Clarification When you are moving miniatures from one level to another directly above or below, you can only do this if there is an obvious hole/space in the floor for the miniature to do this. You cannot move through solid floor. The following rules will NOT be used in this event: Recon table Secret Mission Sportsmanship There are no sportsmanship scores at this tournament but you will get to vote on the person you played who you felt were most deserving of this award. We expect all games to be played in an enjoyable manner. We feel that all players should be fair and respectful to their opponents, displaying a fun and inclusive attitude to the game for themselves and their opponents. Rules Questions and Player Conduct As noted, all rules will be taken from the Deadzone v2 rulebook. In addition, any official FAQ rulings and errata from Mantic Games (published on the website or official forums) will also be used. Please note that there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking your opponents if they can show you the appropriate rule or set of characteristics so that you can check for yourself that everything is being done correctly. All we require is that you ask nicely and politely, and that you do your best to sort out any problems yourselves. If in doubt, the organisers are available to resolve your problem. Judges will be on hand if players require a ruling. Your judges for the event will be pointed out at the start of the day. A judge s ruling is final. The organisers reserve the right to take appropriate action for anybody they deem to be playing unfairly or acting inappropriately. This may be in the form of a warning or a TP penalty. In extreme circumstances a player may be ejected from the event for inappropriate behaviour (such as cheating, excessive swearing, shouting or verbal abuse). Crowding at the Table If one player feels discomfort with the amount of spectators present at their table, they may request them to step aside. When this happens, a referee will ask everyone around to step away from the table. Deadzone: Double-kill Page 7

MISSIONS The missions listed below will be played through in the order presented. They have been developed by the Rules Committee and we will be giving them a thorough play test during this event! These missions are available from the Mantic Games page where the ticket was purchased, that is: manticgames.com/mantic-shop/events-and-tickets/product/deadzone-double-kill.html 20 VPs is the target score to win any mission.
