Eastern Polk Quilters Guild Aug 2018 Issue 212 Web Site: http://epqg.wordpress.com/ The next guild meeting is on August 20, 2018 Speaker: Scott Flanagan cancelled Members please bring any and all entries that you submitted to the Iowa State Fair, whether it won or not, and share with the guild. Since the speaker had to cancel this month, that will be our program this time. Take this opportunity to show off your talents. President s Note Hello ladies, again you have shown your generous spirit. We brought in a very nice amount for Bev Phillips after her home was devastated by the flooding. Bev says Thank you Thank you Thank you. She is currently living in a hotel so she was very grateful for our help! Just a reminder for August, bring your state fair entries for show and tell. Good luck and bring home lots of blue ribbons! Cindy Alcorn ccmtm@msn.com Board Meetings The EPQG Board Meetings are held on the 4th Monday, 6:00 pm, at the Lutheran Church of the Cross in classroom LC # 17. Quilt Labels We would like all donation quilts to have a label stating "Donated by Eastern Polk Quilters Guild 2018". We will have some labels made up and available to pick up at the guild meetings to be added to your donation quilts. If you wish to make your own labels that would be fine also. Cindy Alcorn ccmtm@msn.com 423-5939 This is a picture of one of the quilt labels that are available. They are done in black, blue, and brown thread, so you can choose the color that suits your quilts the best. Take one, two, or all three colors! For each twin quilt donated, your name will be entered twice into the year end drawing. Members At Large Our charities this year are Taylor house (twin size), Bright Kavanaugh house (long twin size), Veterans home, and Broadlawns Hospital for baby quilts As always, we are looking forward to seeing your donations. Please sew, sew, sew! Donation Quilts If you are wanting a donation quilt top kit, please contact Marsha Horner at 515.979.7218. She has new kits available. All of the fabric for the top is included in the kit, as well as a pattern. It s a great way to be able to contribute to donation quilts if you don t have a lot of fabric yourself or have a hard time choosing colors or patterns. Please take advantage of these kits in order to help our charities. Page 2
