Operating Rausch ScanCam within POSM. POSM (Pipeline Observation System Management) // posmsoftware.com // info@posmsoftware.com // 859-274-0041 RAUSCH USA // www.rauschusa.com // reusa@rauschusa.com // 717-709-1005

Table of Contents: Set ScanCam Result Fields... 2 Perform Single Point Scan... 3 Perform Whole Run Scan...4-5 Setup ScanCam Result Fields. When performing Single Point Measurement scans of a pipe, POSM can read the results of the scan data and put them into a value dimension field of the observation. The user may choose which value dimension field the data will be View 2D Reports...5-6 View 3D Reports... 6 Laser Video Micrometer Measurement... 6-7 placed into from the Edit Preferences, Overlay/Counter Setup. The Horizontal Deflection, Vertical Deflection, Width and Diameter are all measured, and may be stored, in any of the 9 dimension fields. Once the fields have been selected, the observation labels may be updated from the Observation and Code Editor. After selecting the template that the inspections will be performed in, press the Edit Observation Labels button in the lower right hand side of the screen. Once entered, the labels will be updated in the software while adding observations and for the generated reports. POSM Pro // Operating Rausch ScanCam within POSM. // Page 2

Perform Single Point Scan. Make sure camera is centered (single point scans). After adding an observation to the session, highlight the observation by left clicking on it. Click on the blue highlighted observation, and then select Add Single ScanCam. Adjust iris down until values no longer accurately measure the radius of the pipe. The pipe radius (1/2 diameter of the pipe) is located to the right of the message box with the OK button. Move the iris up until the lasers are cleanly displayed on the screen, not too small and not too large with a halo. After selecting Add Single ScanCam, the ScanCam application and Send ScanCam Distance windows will appear. Press OK to start scanning. Camera will spin and left laser will go on and off. Press Acquire Data to start recording ScanCam data. Ensure data streams into the list box. Ensure ScanCam is on the Single Measurement tab Press the Start Setup button on the ScanCam application. It is very important to always let commands finish before pressing another button or command on the camera controller. Turn off Lights on the Rausch Camera Controller. If camera doesn t pan correctly or the lasers do not turn on, restart ScanCam and/or the camera controller. Adjust iris up/down to achieve halo. Once the pipe circle shows on screen, close ScanCam to return to POSM. If the pipe is too far off center, raise or lower the camera and repeat the scan again. The software can measure pipes while the camera is not centered. To achieve the highest accuracy, the camera should be properly centered in the pipe. Once the X in the upper right hand corner of ScanCam has been pressed, POSM will save the image to the observation and the image data to the observation data. Turn on the camera lights. Return camera to home, then press the wide button on camera controller to bring zoom back until home. POSM Pro // Operating Rausch ScanCam within POSM. // Page 3

Perform Whole Run Scan. Make sure camera is centered. The session does not have to be running, but you must start ScanCam from the Tools menu of the main session form. Some municipalities are begging to require that the scan be recorded. In this case the session shall stay running to keep the MPEG encoder running during the scan. Some operators wish to have these scans in their own video file. To accomplish this, stop the session to review the inspection run, then start the session again before starting ScanCam whole run. To open ScanCam for whole run inspection, click on the Tools menu then select ScanCam Whole Run. Adjust iris up/down to achieve halo. Adjust iris down until values no longer accurately measure the radius of the pipe. The pipe radius (1/2 diameter of the pipe) is located to the right of the message box with the OK button. Move the iris up until the lasers are cleanly displayed on the screen, not too small and not too large with a halo. After selecting ScanCam Whole Run, the ScanCam application and send ScanCam distance windows will appear. Ensure ScanCam is on the Line Measurement tab Press the Start Setup button on the ScanCam application. It is very important to always let commands finish before pressing another button or command on the camera controller. Turn off lights on the Rausch Camera Controller. If camera doesn t pan correctly, or the lasers do not turn on, restart ScanCam and/or the camera controller. Press OK to start Scanning. Camera will spin and Left laser will go on and off. Press Acquire Data to start recording ScanCam data. Ensure data streams in list box. Press OK to start Scanning. Camera will spin and Left laser will go on and off. In macro, press Drive, ensure its on backward, press slow or med. View 2D Reports. After a run has been completed the user may view the Horizontal Deviation, Vertical Deviation, and Diameter 2D reports. The report may be viewed by clicking on the ScanCam tab in the report editor. The camera will stop at 10 feet. Ensure counter on controller was reset after placing the tractor in the pipe. Pull back manually to start of pipe. Press Stop to finish collecting data. Once the Stop button has been pressed the pipe graph will traverse the pipe data showing its ovality. Once it has finished, press the X in the upper right hand corner of ScanCam to close it. Turn on the camera lights. Return camera to home and then press wide button on camera controller to bring zoom back until home. The user may choose to include blue limit bars. If the No Limits option is selected, no blue bar will appear on each plot. Choosing 5% or 7.5% will place a blue bar on the plot at +5% (-7.5%) and -5% (-7.5%). By checking the Show Only +/- Percent box and entering a numeric value into the adjoining text box the plot will be zoomed in to only show data between the entered numeric value. In the example above the plot will show +/- 7 percent of data. The Maximum Data Value field will limit the maximum deflection data allowed to be plotted. This is useful for when the camera is run past the end of a pipe to keep large spikes from going off the chart. Change Horz and Vert Data By fields were only used for testing purposes and for advanced users in certain types of pipes to modify the output of the Horizontal or Vertical plots. These values should normally be set to 0. Filter Diameters > or < Than From Average allows the user to adjust the maximum diameter plot values displayed. Like the Maximum Data Value for the deviation plots this filters out data mostly when the camera is run past the end of the pipe. Group Diameter Values in Increments of: allows the user to average diameter values in the pipe size plot. For example a value of 1 will average each foot (meter) of the pipe and plot POSM Pro // Operating Rausch ScanCam within POSM. // Page 5

the diameter. This option is useful for plotting a smooth pipe size plot. The Auto Center Data checkbox will move the Horizontal and Vertical data to the average point. This option should only be used in special cases as the data from ScanCam are the correct percentages. Show Horz Plot will turn the horizontal deviation plot on and off. Show Vert Plot will turn the vertical deviation plot on and off. Show Width Plot will turn the pipe diameter size plot on and off. View 3D Reports. By clicking on the Additional Tab or from the DVD selecting the Additional Reports page the user may start the 3D ScanCam viewer for this inspection. The link shown in the reports will navigate the user to the ScanCam folder for this session. To open the ScanCam 3D viewer, double click on the start.cmd icon. The Rausch 3D ScanCam viewer will now open. The Pipe Complete and Pipe Sector options allow the user to view the entire pipe or sections of pipe. While the pipe sector option is selected, the user may slide the slider below pipe sector option to the right or left to move along the pipe. The number of segments to show may be adjusted by moving the up/down value of the number of displayed segments box. To change the red and yellow deflection values the user may move the Red percentage and yellow percentage value up/ down box values. To change the default settings before a disc has been burned to a DVD, the ScanCam3d.ini values may be adjusted. Modifying the GELBGRENZE value will change the yellow deflection value. Changing the ROTGRENZE value will modify the default red deflection value. Note the values must have a decimal value but a comma is used rather than a period. For instance 5.0 would be entered in as 5,0. Laser Video Micrometer Measurement. POSM s Laser Video Micrometer allows the operator to make accurate measurements of observations inside of pipe. The distance between the lasers is known ahead of time and entered into the calibration box. By calibrating the screen, POSM will count the pixels of the drawn line and give an accurate distance measurement of that line. For the most accurate measurement, zoom in as close as possible to the defect while keeping the laser lines in view of the camera. The more pixels that are used in the measurement, the more accurately POSM can measure. After enabling the POSM Measurement Utility, set the Enter Length of Targets box with the distance between the laser dots or lines. If using imperial units, enter this in inches. If using metric, use millimeters. The measurement utility must be calibrated each time a measurement is taken. To calibrate the measurement utility, right click on the screen and drag a blue line between the laser points. This will let POSM know how many pixels per inch or mm there are on screen. Anytime the camera is moved or zoomed the calibration must be redone. Press Right (or left) Button on Macro to bring to 90. Click on Measure tab. Turn on lasers. Zoom to max pixels of lasers on screen. Click Magnify to show mag of screen to calibrate. Check Target Width to make sure it s correct for the pipe size (V of laser). Right click and drag blue line from center of laser to center. POSM Pro // Operating Rausch ScanCam within POSM. // Page 6

Right click on Screen hold and drag a line to end of object to measure. Select Observation to place measurement into. POSM will then load the calibrated length into the field that is set in POSM Setup of the Measurement Utility. Add the observation.
