DECLINES BIRTHDAY CAKE, HOST SCREAMS IN HORROR That's right. No cookies, chocolate, cake, ice cream, syrup or candy. Uh don't get me wrong sugar is in most EVERYTHING. I eat fruit, sugar. I use salad dressings, sugar. I drink wine, sugar. I go out to eat, sugar. I felt there was enough sugar going into my body --why not take out a big part of it and see how I felt. What did I have to lose by trying? How are you living? Why would you do that to yourself? Do you feel different? That's amazing. I get so many different reactions from people once my secret is out. Secret? For the most part, because why would I randomly bring something up that isn't part of my life anymore. Sweets are no longer something I think about or crave. But it wasn't always that way. MY SUGAR JOURNEY My first word was candy. NO JOKE. I was a feen for sugar. I've had cavities in almost every tooth -- call my dentist if you feel so inclined I was obsessed. In high school, I would wake myself up by slamming a handful of whoppers. I actually had a box of 'em next to my bed. Who was that girl haha When I gave up sweets six years ago, it wasn't easy. How could it be? Giving up anything you are addicted to is a challenge. But guess what? I love a good challenge, I love practicing discipline. I love doing something someone doesn't think I can do, you have to adopt a certain mentality and belief in yourself, that you can do it. I've always been this way. Like when the dentist didn't think I could stop drinking soda. I was in the fifth grade I decided to give it up to prove him wrong. Or when multiple doctors told me I needed wrist surgery last year, I said challenge accepted and have proved them wrong. Everything worth it in life takes time and discipline. Having discpline holds me to a higher standard, I live for that. In order to be better, you have to set the bar high and keep moving it higher. Processed sugar was a bar I didn't want to raise anymore, it was one I wanted to chuck into the ocean and never set again. Mission. Accomplished. CHANGE BEAUTIFUL

If not, go grab ya self a piece of chocolate and enjoy every bite! It's your life, I'm not telling you how to live it -- I am just sharing what feels good to me & giving you tips that work. START SLOW, START SMALL Try giving up dessert for seven days. No candy on the weekends for one month. No sugary cereal for two weeks. Just by being more conscious of your decisions with sugar, is something you can commit to.. BUY A BRACELET I bought a bracelet & wore it on my dominate hand, it helped remind me of my goal. Every time I would reach for that fresh baked cookie, or wanted to sneak a bite while I was cutting brownies at work, or walking by the candy aisle and not veering hard right into the skittles... I would see my hand reach out & immediately be reminded. Added bonus: buy a bracelet that gives back to a good cause. Pick your favorite one. I'm currently wearing one to help save our sharks & they clean up a pound of garbage from our oceans with every bracelet purchased.
