The Company Smaltiflex Energia manufactures and markets baskets with enamelled and non-enamelled heating elements for Air Heaters and Gas-Gas Heaters installed in thermal power plants, refineries, incinerators as well in aluminium, steel, fertilizer and other industries. Its products are fitted in plants in over 25 countries (Europe, Asia, Africa and Americas). HISTOriCal DEVelOPment 1963 Smaltiflex starts enamelling mechanical components for various industrial sectors. 1980 Smaltiflex starts to develop enamelling technologies specifically for the baskets of air pre-heaters of thermal power plants. 1990 Smaltiflex starts exporting the enamelled baskets in the Middle East. 2003 Smaltiflex starts cooperating with Italian universities to carry out researches on the development & technological applications of high performance enamels. 2008 Smaltiflex signs the first framework agreement with Italian electricity producers for the long-term supply of baskets with enamelled and non-enamelled heat exchange elements for AH and GGH. 2010 Progressive termination of the industrial components enamelling activity and parallel growing-up of the manufacture of baskets for AH and GGH with enamelled and/or non-enamelled elements. 2011 Smaltiflex starts developing an organic export sales network. 2013 Company industrial conversion with demerging of the core business division related to the manufacture of baskets and heating elements, called Smaltiflex Energia. 2014 Smaltiflex Energia product consolidation on the international market. OffiCES and WORKSHOPS Smaltiflex Energia carries out the entire production cycle in an area of 25,000 m 2 (of which 15,000 are covered) located in San Felice sul Panaro, Modena (Italy), including the following activities: storage of raw materials (steel and frits), coils lamination and profiling, enamelling with different technologies and packing pressure of the finished baskets with specialised equipment. The products are then protected with suitable means before being palletised and prepared for delivery to the final destination. Mechanical Produc tion Typical Baskets Smaltiflex Energia manufactures: all types of baskets according to the sizes, materials, shapes and geometries required by the customers and/or offers own design technical solutions, heat exchange elements manufactured according to the commercial profiles and/or upon requests according to a specific design (with flat, undulated or corrugated configurations) using carbon steels, LCRS steels, low/very low carbon content steels suitable for the subsequent enamelling process, all types of seals according to customer requirements in terms of geometries and materials. The adoption of specific technologies in the steel cutting process and in the baskets closing (controlled pressing), ensures the achievement of high quality finished products, free from any defect and in full compliance with the applicable international standards. The quality of Smaltiflex Energia products is recognized by major companies and often the final goods are certified by Third Parties contracted by customers to carry out tests and checks before delivery. Smaltiflex Energia s customers include major: national and international manufacturers of boilers and relevant auxiliary equipment, italian and international providers/operators of power stations and/or industrial plants, local and foreign engineering and maintenance companies. Appropriately selected, Smaltiflex Energia baskets and heating elements are perfectly suitable for use in air preheaters and gas-gas heaters installed on power plants equipped with boilers burning gas (all types), coal (all grades), fuel oil (all categories), biomass (all variants) and incinerators of any kind. Enamelling The worldwide demand for enamelled heating elements is continuously increasing and Smaltiflex Energia can meet all requests in reasonable time. The quality of its products and in particular of its enamelling process, is the result of rigorous checks throughout all the manufacturing phases; this high quality is obtained by complying with the provisions and fulfilment of the internal Quality Manual, including those aspects that are seemingly secondary. the exclusive use of certified and tested materials (steel and frits), the implementation of specialised chemical-physical-metallographic controls carried out in the exclusive in-house laboratory before, during and at the end of the enamelling process, a suitable protection of finished products with appropriate storage, the general high quality standard constantly applied over the time, the implementation, among other applicable technologies, of the hybrid enamelling process, the continuous collaboration with Institutions and Universities to research innovative and engineered enamels, ensure the satisfaction of Smaltiflex Energia s customers.

Quality and Research Smaltiflex Energia has always given high priority to technical and scientific development and thanks to its laboratory, is able to perform tests to check the production as well to research new solutions to meet the specific needs of its customers. Smaltiflex Energia carries out the enamelling process starting from frits specially designed on the basis of specific experience gained in the sector, commissioned to specialist suppliers; additives are then added to the frits which finally undergo to controlled firing cycles conferring unique features to the end product. Despite their superior characteristics, the enamels obtained in this way are referred to as Standard to distinguish them from the Engineered ones, obtained through nanotechnologies and which features, in addition to the properties of the Standard enamels, exhibit special characteristics with non-conventional final effects. The high performance enamels developed in collaboration with Universities are also tested in the in-house laboratory during their production and application. The laboratory is equipped with all the analytical instrumentation required by applicable standards to carry out test on ceramic-porcelain (enamels) coatings and to test the initial suitability of steels and frits. In addition to ISO and OHSAS quality certification obtained since 2008, Smaltiflex Energia s laboratory has been also recognized by the Italian Ministry of Universities and Scientific Research (MIUR) which has accredited and certified it as highly qualified laboratory in its industrial field for analysis for internal use and/or on behalf of others, like a University laboratory (Official Gazette No. 285 of 09.12.2003).
