Material Specifications: a) All pressure bearing materials used for construction of this exchanger shall be in normalized condition and carbon content for plates shall not exceed 0.23%. b) All carbon steel material in contact with shell side fluid shall be killed quality and shall meet the requirements of NACE standard - M0103 for wet sour service. c) All tubes shall be cold drawn, seamless and in annealed condition. d) Necessary chemistry control for the shell side materials along with restrictions on manufacturing process, hardness restrictions during fabrication welding/haz, Post Weld heat treatment to restrict hardness of weld and HAZ need to be complied as per the standard.
e) The Chemistry control, hardness of the material shall be as per NACE M0103 and resistance of the tubes to HIC shall be carried out as per NACE P-0284 using solution A of NACE TM -0284. However, QAP and fabrication drawing along with bill of material shall be submitted for approval to MPL prior to commencement of fabrication. Dummy shell fabricated for testing the bundle shall be supplied to MPL along with the new tube bundle. 2. General Specification for Tube & Bundle 2.1. All Tubing shall be seamless & cold drawn. 2.2. Tube gauge / thick specified is the required minimum wall thickness unless otherwise specified.
2.3. Tubing shall be in the fully heat treated conditions as received from the mill. 2.4. Product analysis of tubes shall be carried out & reported. Material test Certificate to be submitted along with the Tube Bundle. 2.5. Tube to tube sheet expansion shall be done as per MPL specification 00-ES-400-004-0 2.6. No distortion whatsoever shall be permitted on the gasket seating surfaces, If distorted the same shall be machined. 2.7. Sliding strips shall be provided to facilitate pulling the removable tube bundles. Sliding strips shall be properly seated in the baffles, secured with a complete seal weld (both sides) and attached to the stationary tube sheet with a full penetration weld. The sliding strips shall protrude 2mm beyond the periphery of the baffles. 2.8. When mechanical cleaning is required on shell side (square pitch patterns), the sliding strips shall not obstruct the tube lanes or pass partition. 2.9. Baffles shall be tied together with rods and spacers and provided when necessary with 90 top and bottom notches 10 mm wide for venting and draining. The drainage notches shall be increased to 25 mm width in case shell side fluid is exceptionally dirty or contains slurry. 2.10. The use of a 2-pass shell employing a continuous longitudinal baffle shall require buyer's approval. 2.11. If necessary, impingement protection shall be provided either by a square plate or round- plate baffle, two rows of impingement rods and a distributing belt or by an enlarged inlet nozzle with an internal distributor plate. 2.12. Impingement baffle shall be as per VS-42. If special baffle is specified, the following criteria shall be applied. 2.13. Plate baffles shall extend at least 25 mm beyond the projection of the nozzle bore. 2.14. The unrestricted bundle entrance flow area at the impingement plate baffle shall not be less than the flow area of the inlet nozzle. 3. Inspection scope 3.1. Inspection of all material shall be done by TUV / TEIL / DNV / BV/ LLOYDS only and this inspection is in the scope of the vendor. Vendor shall submit relevant certificates along with the materials. The quote from vendor shall be inclusive of third party inspection charges. 3.2. eview of Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), approval by MPL. 3.3. eview of Test certificate for traceability of material meeting original specification for all pressure& non-pressure parts. 3.4. eview of Heat Treatment report as per material specification as applicable. 3.5. All mechanical test required as per applicable material specification shall be witnessed by TPI. Product chemical analysis shall be reviewed in accordance with NACE requirements for SSC. 3.6. Issue Product release note giving details of inspection carried out.eview of Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), approval of QAP shall be done by MPL. 4. Hydrostatic test and other tests 4.1. These tests shall be witnessed by MPL / MPL authorized inspectors or Third party inspectors at vendor s shop. Hydrostatic test shall be performed with indicating pressure gauge connected to the uppermost part of the equipment. Water used for these tests shall be salt free. Minimum metal temperature during hydrotest shall be 20º C. and the test pressure shall be maintained for duration of minimum one hour period. 4.2. Final hydrotest shall be carried out at factory test pressures mentioned in the drawing. equired Dummy shell /Test ings/test Flanges/Test Covers shall be designed & Manufactured by the vendor for the purpose of Hydro testing of the Tube Bundle at the vendor s shop. 5. Design codes with latest editions The latest design codes given below shall be used for design, manufacture, testing and acceptance of the equipment. i. ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel code Sec. VIII div. I ii. TEMA, standard of tubular exchanger manufacturers association ( class as specified on the drawings / Data sheets) iii. ASTM specification iv. AWS -ASME specification for welding electrodes v. ANSI (American national standard institute) B 16.5 steel pipe flanges and flanged fitting and B16.11 Forged fittings socket welding & threaded. 6. Design and Drawings approvals 6.1. The drawing & Material of Construction Sheet issued with this enquiry is for estimation purpose only.
6.2. The manufacturer shall prepare detailed QAP, fabrication drawings and material of construction and it shall be submitted for approval. Procurement of materials, fabrications etc shall start only after such approval. 7. Delivery Period The item should deliver within 06 month from date of approval of Drawing/QAP. Drawing/QAP shall be submitted within 02 month of placement of Purchase Order. 8. Guarantee The manufacturer shall be responsible for any defects due to any inferior materials or workmanship developed under operating conditions within 12 months from the date of the commissioning or 18 months from the date of receipt of the equipment at the site whichever is earlier. The manufacture shall attend his own cost & make necessary repairs and /or replacements without delay

Indicative QAP for tube bundle procurement is attached as Annexure-1. However, QAP and fabrication drawing along with bill of material shall be submitted forapproval to MPLprior to commencement of fabrication. Dummy shell fabricated for testing the bundle shall be supplied to MPL along with the new tube bundle. All these bundles have same tube material and thickness with varying no. of tubes in each exchanger. The total no. of tubes required for re-tubing of the above bundles is about 700 numbers. It is considered that the tubes having lesser length (for EA 33223) can be utilised from the longer tubes of 6000 mm by splitting single tube into 2 tubes.
