Feature > Keynote Speakers McMaster, Jack CEO of Pacific North, Private Technology Investment Firm Jack McMaster is a former CEO of KPNQwest in the Netherlands. Prior to joining KPNQwest, he was Qwest s Executive Vice President. McMaster joined Qwest following a 20-year career at AT&T where he most recently served as Executive Vice President. He is currently the CEO of Pacific North, a private technology investment firm. 01 Hocke, Frank Vice President and CIO of gedas, IT Subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group Frank Hocke is Vice President and CIO of gedas in the US. Prior to joining gedas, Mr. Hocke was employed at Volkswagen AG, where he served as an IT manager for Volkswagen s distribution system. He is a member of the gedas Worldwide Board of Directors and the gedas Executive Management Team in the US.
Conference > Panelists Adams, William J. Professor of Economics, University of Michigan Prof. Adams received his Ph.D. from Harvard University and joined the faculty at Michigan in 1973. He is currently Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of LS&A. Prof. Adams divides his attention between industrial organization and the European economy. Carré, Hervé Minister for Financial Affairs, Delegation of the European Commission in the US Hervé Carré joined the European Commission in 1973 in the Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs. As of Dec. 2002, he is the Minister for Financial Affairs, Delegation of the European Commission in the US. Darby, Jonathan Deputy Consul General, British Consulate General in Chicago, IL Jonathan Darby took up his appointment in Chicago in Feb. 2002. After joining the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in February 1999, he served in the Security Policy Department in London. As of Jan. 2000, he was Deputy Head, North America Department. Palese, Michael Manager of Executive Communications at Daimler Chrysler Michael Palese is a Manager of Executive Communications at Daimler Chrysler Corp. Before joining Daimler Chrysler, he was a Vice President at Golin- Harris Communications in Washington, D.C, and a Vice President at HRN in Philadelphia. 02
Pritchard, Adam C. Professor of Corporate Law, University of Michigan Law School Prof. Pritchard teaches corporate and securities law at the Law School. His current research focuses on the effects of fraud on securities markets and the role of class action litigation in controlling fraud. Svejnar, Jan Everett E. Berg Professor of Business Administration, U-M Business School Professor Svejnar was one of the chief architects of the Czech Republic s economic reforms of the early 1990s and he continues to serve as an advisor to Czech President Vaclav Havel. Professor Svejnar also serves on the supervisory board of GE Capital in the Czech Republic. Swiecicki, Peter Partner, Baker & McKenzie, Law Firm Peter Swiecicki works on cross-border commercial transactions. He has represented international companies in a wide variety of matters relating to their cross-border investments, including financing, acquisitions, divestitures, restructuring, governance, tax and real estate matters. Terrell, Katherine Professor of Business Economics and Public Policy, University of Michigan Professor Terrell received her Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1984. She joined the Business Economics faculty as an Associate Professor in 1996. She is also a Research Director of Labor Markets and Human Resources at the William Davidson Institute. 03
Thelen, Bruce C. President of the German-American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest Bruce C. Thelen s practice emphasises on international business, banking and finance, and business organizations and corporate governance. Since 1984, he is a member of Dickinson Wright, PLLC. He was awarded an Order of Merit in Dec. 2000 by President of the Federal Republic of Germany. Treanor, Eithne Special Correspondent, CNBC Europe Eithne Treanor joined CNBC Europe in 1999 as a reporter and has spent the last year covering various stock exchanges in Europe as well as European Stock Exchange consolidation and OPEC. She is an accomplished journalist, and currently reports daily from the London Stock Exchange. Tucci, Paul Partner, Cranbrook Partners and Co., Private Equity Investments Paul Tucci joined the Thomson Corporation in 1999, as Senior Vice -President Global Division of the Gale Group, a unit of Thomson, and the world s largest reference publisher. He is currently a managing partner at Crankbrook Partners, a private equity investment firm. 04
