RECOGNIZING KRISTIN BENNET AS CITY HALL EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR 2015 WHEREAS, Kristin was hired on November 12, 2007 as the City s Accounting Technician Utility Billing Clerk in the Administrative Services Department; and WHEREAS, Kristin stepped into the payroll clerk role due to an extended leave of the former payroll clerk; and WHEREAS, Kristin worked overtime to learn how to process payroll and issue bi-weekly checks, working under tight deadlines with no room for error, and let s face it that is why we appreciate her; and WHEREAS, Kristin continued to train other staff and assist with utility billing and parking reconciliation duties in between payroll weeks; and WHEREAS, Kristin is fun to work with and helps out with team-building events in her free time, such as building several characters from The Night Before Christmas, including a paper Mache dog Hero and his dog house for her Department s award-winning Halloween decorating contest; and WHEREAS, Kristin has now accepted the permanent position of payroll clerk and maintains a can do attitude throughout the transition to her new role, providing excellent customer service, taking on this complicated task with a positive attitude; and WHEREAS, Kristin is an exemplary employee with exceptional integrity and character who is deserving of recognition as Outstanding City Hall Employee of the Year 2015. RECOGNIZING JODI BISCHOFF AS POLICE EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR 2015 WHEREAS, the employees of the City of Pismo Beach nominate and select one of their peers for special recognition as Police Employee of the Year; and WHEREAS, Officer Jodi Bischoff has displayed exemplary performance as a police officer and enthusiasm for her day-to-day duties, and has proven to be a true asset to the organization; and WHEREAS, Officer Bischoff has performed to the highest degree of professionalism in her job as a police officer; including serving as the department D.A.R.E. officer and Field Training Officer, and the Pismo Beach Police Department s first female motor officer; and WHEREAS, Officer Bischoff maintains an enthusiasm for public service and upholds the Pismo Beach Police Department s dedicated philosophy of community-oriented policing as a police officer for the department; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Pismo Beach City Council to annually recognize and pay tribute to the exceptional performance of its employees through the Police Employee of the Year program. RECOGNIZING ROBERT GORMAN AS THE 2015 OUTSTANDING FIRE DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR WHEREAS, Fire Captain Robert Gorman has been nominated and recognized by his peers as Fire Department Employee of the Year; and WHEREAS, Captain Gorman was born and raised in Avila Beach and attended local elementary and junior high schools, graduating from San Luis Obispo High School and settling down in Atascadero with his wife and two daughters Sara and Laura; and WHEREAS, he began his fire career in 1985, volunteering for the Avila Beach Fire Department, working his way through the ranks and becoming a full-time Fire Captain in Avila Beach in 1990; and WHEREAS, Captain Gorman ultimately served as the Fire Chief in Avila Beach from 1994 2000 until the Avila Beach Fire Department consolidated with CAL FIRE, making it possible for Robert to transfer over as a Fire Captain; and WHEREAS, he has worked in Pismo Beach since 2006, representing the Fire Department on the Special Events Committee, lending his expertise in the purchase of many of our Fire vehicles, and serving on the Hazardous Materials Team as a HazMat Specialist; and WHEREAS, Captain Gorman has and continually shared his knowledge and experience with his co-workers and firefighters, and proudly served the citizens of Pismo Beach. RECOGNIZING RUSSELL GREVENKAMP AS THE 2015 OUTSTANDING PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR WHEREAS, Russell Grevenkamp has been nominated and recognized by his peers as Public Works Employee of the Year; and WHEREAS, Russell was born and raised in Bishop, California, and is an avid music fan specifically in the genres of classic rock and the blues, and he is an accomplished guitarist, having played in multiple blues and rock bands, one of which, the RJ Blues Project, played at Coveney Brewing Company and Mr. Rick's in the early 1990s; and WHEREAS, Russell began his career with the City in March of 2010 in the Public Facilities Division of the Department of Public Works and quickly gained the respect of his coworkers for his work ethic; and WHEREAS, Russell quickly proved himself to be a diligent and dedicated public employee, working weekends, special events, and holidays, and was quickly promoted in March 2012 to Maintenance Worker II in the Public Facilities Division; and WHEREAS, Russell continually has a positive attitude and has proven his ability and willingness to help others, and sets an example for others to follow in both the Parks and Streets sections within the Public Facilities Division; and WHEREAS, Russell s contributions were instrumental in the Main Street Parking Lot Rehabilitation Project; and WHEREAS, Russell s professional, customer service-oriented approach to problem-solving has served the residents, co-workers, and visitors of Pismo Beach well. RECOGNIZING KYLE WHITE AS POLICE OFFICER OF THE YEAR 2015 WHEREAS, the employees of the City of Pismo Beach nominate and select one of their peers for special recognition as Police Officer of the Year; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Kyle White has displayed exemplary performance as a police officer and his enthusiasm for his day to day duties, and has proven to be a true asset to the organization; and WHEREAS, Sergeant White has performed to the highest degree of professionalism in his job as a patrol sergeant, including his part in obtaining the annual Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) DUI grant and continued service as a Department range master; and WHEREAS, Sergeant White maintains a dedication to public service and upholds the Pismo Beach Police Department s dedicated philosophy of community-oriented policing as an officer for the department; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Pismo Beach City Council to annually recognize and pay tribute to the exceptional performance of its employees through the Police Officer of the Year program.
