The winning artwork will become part of the splendid Calleen Collection the foundation collection of the Cowra Regional rt Gallery. The Calleen rt ward is open to original paintings in any style or subject using any traditional painting medium, such as acrylic, oil or watercolour (other traditional mixed media may be used, but only to a lesser extent). Calleen rt ward finalists are selected by a panel of art professionals. The winner of the 2019 Calleen rt ward is selected by the ward Judge from the award finalists and will receive $20,000 in prize money, made possible by the Calleen Trust. The announcement of the winner will be made at the official opening of the 2019 Calleen rt ward exhibition on Saturday 4 May 2019. POP S CHOIC WRD The 2019 People s Choice ward (non-acquisitive) is $1,000 in prize money, courtesy of the Friends of the Gallery. The People s Choice ward will be announced at the end of the Calleen rt ward exhibition. CONDITIONS OF NTRY Submission of an entry is and shall constitute acceptance of all the following conditions of entry. The entrant (rtist) is bound by and shall perform and observe all obligations pursuant to these conditions. 1. IGIBIITY The Calleen rt ward is open to persons over 18 years, living and professionally based in ustralia. ligible entries must be a painting (in any style and subject) wholly executed using a painting medium (oil, acrylic, watercolour) and no greater than 2 x 2 metres or equivalent size/area ratio including a diptych or triptych. painting must be designed to hang on or be fixed to a wall. ll other media are ineligible. Only a painting that is the original artwork and concept of the artist and completed since 1 January 2018 will be considered. ll paintings submitted must be available for sale in the exhibition and must not be owned by a third party. The painting awarded the 2019 Calleen rt ward will automatically become part of the Calleen Collection upon payment of the prize money to the winning entrant. By entering a painting into the Calleen rt ward, the artist warrants that said painting does not infringe copyright, moral rights or other rights of a third party. painting entered into the Calleen rt ward must not have been shown previously in any other art prize/competition in the Central West Region of NSW. The awarding of cash prizes are deemed inclusive of any requisite GST amount. The Gallery reserves the right to reject an entry where insufficient GST information is given. n artist or their authorised sole agent or commercial gallery may enter up to three (3) paintings in total for consideration. ach painting entered must be accompanied by a nonrefundable fee of $35 (including GST), together with the support material and the Calleen rt ward entry form signed by the rtist. painting entered for selection without the correct payment (including correct credit card information, if relevant) will not be considered eligible (see the ntry Form for more information). n rtist and/or their authorised sole agent or commercial gallery is liable for all costs payable, including fees, support material, postage, insurance and freight as required. 2. SUBMISSION INFORMTION (NTRY FORM) rtists are required to submit the following: 1. completed entry form signed by the artist with BN or Statement by supplier form 2. Fee Payment ($35 per entry) by cheque, money order or credit card (refer to entry form) 3. Digital image of each entry on a CD or USB Thumb Drive as a JPG file no less than 300dpi and a file size of 2MB. Images supplied must include at least one complete image of each painting entered for selection and no more than two detail images (optional). Images submitted must be of professional quality for reproduction purposes. Include photography credit if required. 4. n artist statement/description (MS Word or PDF) of each painting entered for selection, about 200 words per entry. Please include on the same CD or USB Thumb Drive with the digital image. Note: Files of each digital image submitted should be clearly named with the artist s surname and first initial followed by the name of the painting and size e.g. Jones B. Untitled, 90 (w) x 150 (h). PRICING ND S OF PINTING The Cowra Regional rt Gallery is authorised to offer any selected painting in the finalist exhibition for sale to the public at the price endorsed on the entry form. The sale price shall remain fixed for the duration of the exhibition. If sold from the exhibition, a selected painting is subject to a commission of 30% by the Gallery (plus GST, if applicable). In the case where the artist has been represented by a sole agent or commercial Gallery within ustralia for more than a year, the Cowra Regional rt Gallery will share the commission with the sole agent or commercial gallery of the artist (plus GST, if applicable). Should a painting be sold, the net sale proceeds will be paid to the artist within thirty-five (35) days of sale, provided settlement has been made in accordance with the conditions of sale. painting sold during the exhibition will not be released until the exhibition ends, and full payment has been received by the Gallery. ll costs for additional packaging and transit/ freight relating to a sold painting is the responsibility of the purchaser and/or artist or the artist s sole agent or commercial gallery. Payment will be made in ustralian dollars. 4. JUDGING ND PR-SCTION There are two rounds of judging. xhibition finalists will be pre-selected by a panel of art professionals designated by the Director, Cowra Regional rt Gallery from the digital image/s received with the entry form. The pre-selection panel and the ward Judge s decision for the Calleen rt ward are final and no correspondence will be entered into. decision by a majority of the pre-selection panel judges on any issue shall be deemed to be a valid and binding decision of the panel as a whole. Calleen rt ward 2019 finalists will be notified by email (within 7 10 days after the preselection date). Non-finalists will be notified by mail. The announcement of 2019 Calleen rt ward winner will be made at the exhibition opening on Saturday 4 May 2019. Only Calleen rt ward finalists will be required to deliver their painting to the Cowra Regional rt Gallery. substitute for a selected painting will not be accepted. 5. FINISTS INFORMTION selected painting for exhibition must be ready for hanging, with D-rings securely attached to the main stretcher frame 10 15 from the top of the frame for a large painting, and 5 8 for the top for a smaller painting (do not attach hanging wire or hooks, etc). stretched canvas is considered framed for display in this instance. Key dates for deliveries Hand, Post and Courier deliveries 17/18 pril 2019, 23/24, 26 pril 2019 and 29 pril 2019 (Gallery closed for aster and NZC day) from 10am and 4.30pm. The Gallery must be notified at least 7 days prior to delivery by email: cowraartgallery@cowra.nsw.gov.au or tel. 6340 2190. If consigning a painting via post, the correct amount of stamps for the return postage must be included with the painting when posted to the Cowra Regional rt Gallery. If the said painting is sold, the stamps will be returned to the artist, if requested. IS freight assistance Cowra Regional rt Gallery has a special freight arrangement for artists with International rt Services (IS). Selected paintings can be forwarded to the Cowra Regional rt Gallery at no cost to the artist if the painting is delivered/forwarded to the IS depot in Sydney or Queanbeyan no later than 18 pril 2019. In the first instance, an artist selected for exhibition must organise the delivery of their painting, at their own cost, to the IS depot in Sydney or Queanbeyan before the said date. Paintings will also be returned to the same depot at no cost to the artist at the end of the exhibition. Further information will be sent to artists selected for the Calleen rt ward exhibition with their notification as a finalist. 6. INSURNC The Cowra Regional rt Gallery, its staff, or agents, and the Cowra Shire Council shall not be responsible or liable for any loss or damage whatsoever, however caused, to any painting whilst in the custody of the Gallery. ach artist is and shall be the responsible for maintaining their own insurance cover. ll postal, transit/freight insurance arrangements and costs are borne by the artist and/or the artist s sole agent or commercial gallery. 7. COPYRIGHT ND PROMOTION If selected for exhibition, the artist agrees to grant Cowra Regional rt Gallery and its licensees the right to the reproduction of the painting or detail of the painting (at no fee) based on the digital image/s submitted and their exhibition statement in all publications (catalogues, folders, posters, slide shows, brochures, invitations, etc) and any social media for archival, catalogue and/or promotional purposes related to the Calleen rt ward. n artist agrees that their painting selected for exhibition can be photographed during the exhibition dates by the staff and/or agents of Cowra Regional rt Gallery and published in any print, electronic or digital format for marketing, educational and review purposes. If selected as the winner of the 2019 Calleen rt ward, the artist agrees that their winning painting can be photographed by the staff and/or agents of Cowra Regional rt Gallery and published in any print, electronic or digital format for marketing, educational and review purposes in relation to the Calleen Collection from the completion of the exhibition. 8. GNR INFORMTION The information requested on this form is required for the administration of the Calleen rt ward and will only be used for this purpose (and where applicable for the ongoing administration of said Calleen rt ward). This information cannot be accessed by any unauthorised person. In the event of a dispute regarding the interpretation of the terms and conditions, the decision of the Director of the Cowra Regional rt Gallery shall be binding on all parties.
