We each made a loaf to bring home and my teacher made one for us to eat at school. I must say that my teacher s loaf tasted the best! I brought mine home and my mom said it was sweet and tasty like a giant doughnut! Hmm, I wonder if that extra scoop of sugar was just a little bit too much! Anyway, everyone liked it so much they all asked me to bring home the recipe. I hope your family will enjoy making and eating this bread! Julia age: 11 In large bowl, add the warm water. Slowly stir in the dry yeast. Continue to stir until the yeast is dissolved. Add salt, sugar, butter and milk to the bowl. Stir. Mix in the first 2 cups of flour. If needed, begin adding more flour, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough chases the spoon around the bowl. Turn dough out onto a floured board and knead, adding small spoonfuls as needed, until the dough is soft and smooth, not sticky to the touch. Put dough in a greased or buttered bowl. Turn the dough over so that the top of the dough is greased. Cover and let rise in a warm spot for one hour. Punch down dough. Turn out onto floured board and knead. Preheat oven at 375. Form dough into a loaf and set in buttered bread pan. Cover and let rise for about 30 minutes. Put in oven and bake for about 45 minutes or until golden brown. Peel a stick of butter and rub it on top of the hot loaf. Share it with all the people you love!
