Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus. It is a time of great joy and where God showed his love for us. It is a time that we can reflect and renew our strength and faith as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. I sincerely thank our students, parent and staff for the combined effort throughout 2018. Together we can celebrate our many achievements throughout the year. As the Year 6 students end their final week of Primary School, I thank them for the gifts they have shared with us. They have developed as school leaders and have made a genuine effort to contribute to a positive climate at Sacred Heart. I wish each and every student the very best for the future. This is the last school Newsletter for 2018. But every end is a new beginning. There is a well known saying when one door closes another one opens. Advent is the new door opening that is four weeks preparing us all of welcoming Jesus into our hearts and lives. The first Candle is the candle that remembers Jesus had been promised, or prophesised for a very long time. His coming at Christmas gives us great Hope for ourselves and our future. The second Candle is the candle that remembers Jesus was born homeless in a stable in Bethlehem, loved by Mary and Joseph. His coming at Christmas grows our Love for him in our hearts. The third candle is the candle that remembers the shepherds, the nobodies of their time who came to see Jesus that brought great joy to their hearts. His coming at Christ brings Joy to our hearts as well. Notice the candle is the colour of our hearts. The fourth candle is the candle that remembers the angels singing for total joy at the birth of Jesus who is coming to bring peace to our struggle with temptation. His coming gives great Peace into our hearts. The fifth and final candle is the candle of Christ who is bringing God-life into our world that our Hope, Love, Joy and Peace find fulfillment in him. May you all have the most blessed Christmas. Father Patrick
