N E W S L E T T E R P A G E 4 Guild Challenge Quilt The fabric for the TVQG Challenge has been purchased and will be distributed at the April 16, 2013 Guild meeting. Each member who wishes to participate in this challenge will be given 1/2 yard of the Challenge Fabric. It will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis until the bolt is empty. Should there be fabric remaining after half-yard pieces are distributed, members will be able to purchase fabric for the retail price. If you are accepting this Challenge, you need to make a quilt using any technique you would like. The finished size of the quilt is up to you. The only hard and fast rule is the Challenge Fabric must be used on the front of the quilt and be visible and identifiable from a distance of at least 10 feet. Completed quilts should be brought to the February 18, 2014, TVQG meeting. The Second Challenge Quilt TVQG is also sponsoring a second challenge Quilt for 2013-2014. This one is a repeat of an earlier challenge. Please select a children s book and make a quilt that somehow corresponds to the book. Use whatever inspires you from the book: the setting, the characters, the theme, or even something as simple as the colors on the cover of the book. Use any technique or tools you would like to make your quilt. This Challenge Quilt should also be brought to the February 18, 2014, Guild meeting. If you are planning to donate this quilt (and the book that inspired it) to charity, then please make the quilt approximately 40 by 60. Otherwise, it will not matter which size quilt you decide to make. IF YOU PLAN TO DONATE ONE OR BOTH OF THESE CHALLENGE QUILTS TO CHARITY, YOU MAY USE SOME OF THE FABRIC FROM OUR CHARITY QUILT- ING GROUP S STASH TO MAKE YOUR QUILT. SOON IT WILL BE TIME TO RENEW YOUR TVQG MEMBERSHIP! Memberships need to be renewed by July 2013. Please remember to fill out a new membership application and return that form, along with your check, to the Membership Chairlady as early as possible. Those membership application forms are essential for making an accurate roster. If we don t have an application form, your name and contact information might not get into the roster.
