PEOPLE S Rational

Modern cities cities face face several key key challenges towards the the future, future, deeply deeply related related to to the the quality quality of of life life and and citizens well-being, which which can can be be grouped in in 4 categories: economic, administrative, social social and and ambient-related challenges. ICT ICT services building on on Future Future Internet technologies, and and the the concept of of Smart Smart City, City, open open great great opportunities for for finding finding solutions/alternatives for for facing facing these these challenges.

PEOPLE s Objectives Speeding up the uptake of smart cities through the rapid implementation, deployment and uptake of innovative internet-based services It designs and implements user-driven open innovation methodologies and processes. It consist of four Pilot Smart Open Innovation Urban Ecosystems (PEOPLE Pilots) created to become seeds towards sustainable smart cities based on ICT services.

It means that when the user is connected, this service will provide only local information related to his location The service allows displaying and editing the user profile. It allows also displaying and managing the list of friends' profiles, location and their connexion context (available, online, etc). The user profile is a collection of personal data regarding identity, activity and preferences The application provides a search function among the information published by the portal. This search is semantic, which means the request is analyzed to understand what the goal of the request is and to adapt it (no direct matching). Furthermore the user will be helped interactively. The instant immersive messaging service allows one to communicate with another person over a network in real time, in relative privacy.

It means that the user can simply press a button and send an alarm with his name, phone number and his location to public authorities Camera service (under Public Authority Communications (under This service aims at providing video through cameras located in the bus stop, in order to allow the public authorities such as policemen or firemen, to get more information with a better accuracy on what happened This application allows one public agent to communicate in real time with other public agents using instant messaging or voice chat

ICOS portal (http://icos.urenio.org/) ICOS is addressed to anyone interested on intelligent / smart cities development and looks for applications and solutions which have been successfully implemented in other cities, mainly open source applications. In the technology supply side, ICOS is addressed to smart city applications and solutions developers wishing to disseminate applications and solutions they have created. In the demand side, ICOS is addressed to city authorities, infrastructure and utilities managers, city stakeholders wishing to use smart city solutions in order to increase the competitiveness, cohesion, and sustainability of the city.

Call for Cooperation PEOPLE Pilots as testing-ecosystems for other projects to demonstrate/test/validate new FI services they are developing. The projects will benefit from accessing a smart ecosystem with key infrastructures deployed, with users engaged in innovation activities towards promoting ICT services for a better life, and with access to data and other services which can open them opportunities for sustainability and further development.
