BITS & PIECES LADIES' LUNCHEON ROMEO MEN'S BREAKFAST The men's breakfast will take place on Wednesday, Sep 17, at 8:30 AM at Richard's restaurant. Please sign up at the clubhouse. The Ladies' Luncheon will be held at noon on Thursday, September 18, at Olive Garden on Route 200. Judy Lott is hosting. Sign up at the clubhouse. Hope to see you there! LADIES LUNCHEON FOR DECEMBER by Linda Otto I have booked the Stone Creek Grille for the Ladies' Luncheon on December 18 at noon. It will be a high tea luncheon and Karen Sammons will be in charge. The price will be $14.95 + tax + tip. There will be a great buffet menu and I will post it at a later date. Hope to see everyone there! SADDLE OAK SINGLES The Lunch Out for September will be at Sonny's BBQ on Thursday, September 25, at 11:30 AM. Please sign up on the clipboard at the clubhouse to reserve your spot. The results of our lunch vote have chosen the following restaurants for the future: Oct 28 (Thurs) - Olive Garden Nov 25 (Tues) - Cody's Dec 23 (Tues) - Ruby Tuesday COMMUNITY WATCH by Harry Fillmore The Community Watch is getting full. Sunday: Jean & Wanda Monday: Cindy Livingston & Paulette McNally Tuesday: Boston Bob & Harry S. Wednesday: The Carsons Thursday: The Andersons Friday: Gloria & Mo Saturday: Carol Kazmierski & Judy Gustafson And we have a new person in the works: Wanda's new neighbor, Ella. I think the Community Watch is doing a great job. Now that we have two riders in the cart, there aren't any problems they can't handle. I went to Fairfield Community last Thursday and I am getting volunteers from there to work on Crime Watch. They might even start their own Watch using their golf cart. We have been busy, but isn't that great? ICE CREAM TRUCK by Paulette McNally The ice cream cart will be around the neighborhood on Wednesdays shortly after 6:00 PM. We hope to deliver well into September. In case of bad weather, we will come around on Sunday. If you have Facebook, check on Friends of Saddle Oak for updates on Monday and Tuesday. OLD TIME MOVIE DAY There will be an Old Time Movie Day on Sunday, September 7. The movie will be Cocoon. Does anyone remember that one? So come to the clubhouse for hamburgers & chips ($3.00) at 1:00 PM and a fun movie starting at 2:00 PM. Popcorn, snacks & cake will also be available.

BITS & PIECES (page 2) MOVE-IT - MOVE-IT by Joann Barber, 304-8579 In order to continue this program, I need a second person to share running the program. That person needs to be able to handle the electronics in the clubhouse and share equal time as instructor. The program will be suspended until such time I can find help with this program or someone who wants to take it over completely. Please contact me if you are interested. SUNSHINE REPORT by Fran Bolson Residents hospitalized last month include Fred Congdon, Anna Rader, Judy Lott, and June Walter. Those in nursing homes are Johnnie Stephens, Loretta and Ed Wulf, Eleanor Underwood, and Charlene St. Peter. Please keep these folks in your thoughts and prayers. PLEASE TAKE NOTE When shopping for fruits and vegetables in grocery stores, please read the signs and labels closely. Organic vegetables, which cost more, are now sometimes mixed in with the regular ones. So to avoid inadvertently purchasing what you did not mean to, keep this in mind - remember to read the signs, or if you're not sure, ask for help. CHRISTMAS IS COMING by Linda Otto It will soon be time to dress bears and fill stockings for the Salvation Army for the less fortunate. So if you see a good buy, now is the perfect time to start stocking up. Toothbrushes are good and so are crayons. Whatever you think children will like, but no gum or candy. CHRISTMAS PROJECT by Joann Barber We will be asking residents to fill gallonsize gift bags for the 50 veterans at Veteran's Village as our project this year. We will be making the gift bags available the first part of December. The bags, a Christmas card, and a list of suggestions will be provided. Fill with small personal items and snacks. OPERATION SHOEBOX by Joann Barber A reminder to all to save soaps and shampoos from hotels for Operation Shoebox. These will be given to the VFW for overseas Operation Shoebox project. This is an all-year project. They can be turned in to me all year round. Thanks for all your generous endeavors.
