ABOUT US The faculty at Maud Morgan Arts is drawn from the best professional artists in the Boston area. They are all exceptional teachers and recognized in their fields. Many have taught or currently teach at the area s top colleges and universities. Engage with some of Boston s finest artists in studios purposely designed for ceramics, printmaking, drawing and painting, and sculpture. When registering for Spring classes please take a moment to update your account information. It is important we have accurate age, grade, school and medical information. Thank you! WINTER/SPRING SESSION ADVISORY MMA will do up to 2 make-up classes in the case of cancellation due to snow. These make-up classes will be in the weeks immediately following the end of the session. Therefore delaying the start of Spring 2019 classes. Our staff will be in contact with our families if this is to occur. Classes will not be pro-rated. Sn T ensures that your child will arrive safely, receive a nutritious snack, enjoy activities and walk with a teacher to class. *Grades 4 & 5 may opt to arrive and depart independently with signed permission form from their guardian. Children can move at their own pace between stations. KINDERGARTEN The Sky: Everything Above Us Monday Kinga Borondy 3:30-5:30 pm $260 + 40 Look up in wonder!. Students will observe the seen and unseen wonders of the sky, including animals in flight, shooting stars, spaceships, and weather. Pinch Projects Wednesday Zac Mickelson 3:30-5:30 pm $260 + $50 Because clay can be shaped into anything, it simultaneously stimulates the imagination, and builds fine motor coordination. Critters & Creatures! Thursday Dani Schechner Draw, print, sculpt, paint, and build animals, creatures, and critters of all kinds. Learn a wide range of techniques, mediums, and applications for creating critters and creatures. Stamp & Print Friday Aleigha Howland From simple stamping techniques to more complex multi-step processes, students will find what it means to create with light, transferring and reproducible art work. Intro to Woodworking Angela Kimberk 3:30-5:30 pm $260 + $50 Students will learn woodworking techniques using hand tools as they make projects based on prompts. All for Clay / Clay for All: Adult w/ Child Saturday Nina Berinstein 10 am - 12 pm $375 + $50 No matter how young or old you can be successful in clay. Color Intensive: Paint/Draw Wednesday 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm Jenn Wood $270 + $50 Expressive imagination and close observation come into play through exploring a wide variety of media in works on paper. Paint, oil pastels, watercolor, pencil and charcoal are all possible materials. Phone Photography & Editing Friday John Dalterio 3:30-5:30 pm $270 + $40 Explore the world of composing visual images. Create the perfect picture using digital devices! Handbuilding & Wheelthrowing Nina Bernstein 6-8:30 pm $375 + $50 Learn to throw and trim on the wheel as well as clay construction processes such as coils, slabs, and pinching. Centrifugal Force: Ceramics Wednesday Zac Mickelson 6-8:30 pm $375+ $50 Personalized instruction provides inspiration and information for artists to establish a voice for their ceramic work. STUDIO SAMPLER SERIES Designed to inspire without a huge commitment, this series is a perfect way to test your interests and skills. Each class is 5 weeks long. Topics will vary by season, and will cover a variety of other materials and studio practices. Experimenting with Watercolors: Materials, Techniques and Ideas Mon, Jan 7 - Feb 11 Boriana Kantcheva 6-8:30 pm $170 + $30 This versatile printmaking process allows for creating variety of images that can be easily combined with painting. See how ideas can be enriched by screen printing. Develop Your Sketchbook Wed, Jan 10 - Feb 7 Boriana Kantcheva 6:30-8:30 pm $170 + $30 Explore different exercises that will work with color, line, shapes and found images. Students are encouraged to work in their sketchbooks to create experimental spreads without the pressure of creating a finished piece. Contact Earth Thurs, Feb 14 - Mar 21 Tiffany Playford 6-8:30 pm $175 + $50 Learn to throw and trim on the wheel and clay construction processes such as coils, slabs, and pinching. Whether you have previous experience or none, students can pursue individual directions with help from the instructor. Intro to Printmaking, May 7 - June 4 Stacy Friedman 6-8 pm $375 + $50 An introduction to a number of low-tech and fun printmaking methods. Through in-class demonstrations and personalized instruction, students will learn a variety of techniques.
