Aslan Premier DOTA2 Tournament Rules and Regulations 2015 Purpose Of This Document These are the Rules and Regulations for the Aslan Premier DOTA2 Tournament. They are intended to make known the requirements and expectations of all those involved. This document is live and will be open to be updated throughout the course of the Tournament with changes made known. 1. General 1.1. Tournament 1.1.1. The Aslan Premier DOTA2 Tournament is a locked Single Tier, Two-Stage competition that runs the course of the year held at LAN events. 1.1.2. A panel of Judges and a panel of Conductors will oversee the running of the Tournament. 1.1.3. Competitors will sign up to the Tournament during a Signup Period that will be announced and made public prior to the Tournament. 1.1.4. The minimum required number of Teams for this Tournament is Eight (8) and this tournament will not commence if this requirement is not met. 1.1.5. The Two Stages are a Round Robin series followed by a Final round. 1.1.6. Each round will be held at a Lanning Event throughout the course of the year. These dates will be announced at commencement of the Signup Period. 1.1.7. The Commencement of the Tournament is considered to be the week before the first date set for the Round Robin series. 1.1.8. A panel of formally recognised persons that are known as Judges will judge the results. This information will be made available to Competitors prior to the commencement of the Tournament. 1.1.9. The decision of the Judges for a result will be considered final unless a formal appeal is lodged. 1.1.10. After a formal appeal any decision of the judges is final. 1.1.11. The Judges are able to review and amend the Rules and Regulations of the Tournament in order to make the competition fair. Any changes made will occur in between rounds and should be made in a manner not to send the competition into disrepute. Rules and Regulations 2015 Page 1 of 7 Revised: 11th April, 2015

1.2. Commitment 1.2.1. By signing up and paying the Sign Up Fee, a Competitor commits themselves to attend all rounds of the Tournament unconditionally. 1.2.2. Competitors will follow the Rules and Regulations and any decision of the Judges respectfully and fairly. 1.2.3. Competitors will conduct themselves in a manner that is acceptable to the public, other Competitors, Judges and the Conductors of the Tournament. This will apply to any type of medium be it visual, audible or anything text based. 1.2.4. Competitors must ensure they have obtained valid entry to the LAN event at which their Round is being held. 1.2.5. Competitors acknowledge that the Tournament is a Public Event and that replays, images, photographs, match statistics, used strategies and tactics and their alias will be used in coverage and broadcasts. 1.2.6. Contact information of Competitors will be made available for Judges and the Conductors. This information will only be used for the purposes of ensuring correct and efficient operation of the Tournament and will not be made publicly available. 1.2.7. Judges and the Conductors will be able to freely request and obtain contact information from the Competitors for the purpose of the Tournament at any time. 1.2.8. The Judges and the Conductors of the Tournament will not release personal information of a Competitor other than those outlined in 1.2.5. 1.3. Formal Communication 1.3.1. Competitors will be given contact information of the Judges and Conductors prior to the commencement of the Tournament. 1.3.2. Competitors are able to request and freely receive this contact information at any stage throughout the running of the Tournament. 1.3.3. Competitors will be made aware of which methods of communication will be preferred for various circumstances. This should be indicated along with the contact information. 1.3.4. Competitors will not misuse these details: 1.3.4.1. To obtain an advantage in the Tournament by gaining preference with the Judges. 1.3.4.2. To attempt to disadvantage another Team or Competitor. 1.3.4.3. To harass and/or abuse the Judges. 1.3.4.4. By making these details publicly available and encouraging others to harass, abuse or misuse these details. 1.3.4.5. Any other misuse of these details as deemed inappropriate by the Judges or persons conducting the Tournament. 1.3.5. Competitors will be required to provide contact information to the Judges and the persons conducting the Tournament. 1.4. Prize Pool 1.4.1. The Prize Pool is the total value of prizes that can be won. Rules and Regulations 2015 Page 2 of 7 Revised: 11th April, 2015

1.4.2. The Prize Pool will be divided such that Competitors of Teams will receive equal value prizes for placing First, Second or Third as a Team. 1.4.3. First place prize will always be considered greater value than Second and Second greater than Third. 1.4.4. No Competitor within a Team will be considered more or less valuable as far as a prize is concerned. 1.4.5. Prizes of a Tournament will be made known prior to the Sign-Up Period and on the assumption of the minimum prize pool. 1.4.6. If the value of the Prize Pool exceeds that of the minimum assumption. Then the Prize Pool will have an increased value and an adjustment to the value of the respective prizes will be made. 1.4.7. All Competitors are expected to pay the Signup Fee for the Tournament prior to the commencement of the Tournament. 1.4.8. Failure of Competitors paying the Signup Fee will result in an exclusion of the Competitor and/or Team. 2. Tournament Format 2.1. Overview 2.1.1. As stated in 1.1.5, the Tournament will consist of Two Stages. A best of one Round Robin series followed by a Final round. 2.1.2. All matches will use the Captain s Mode game mode. 2.2. Round Robin 2.2.1. The Round Robin series will be a series of fixed matches between Teams throughout the course of the year. 2.2.2. Match lineups will be randomly drawn at the Commencement of the Tournament (see 1.1.7) and will be communicated to all Competitors and made available to the Public. 2.2.3. Match lineups cannot be disputed. 2.2.4. Match times can be rearranged in discussion with the Conductors. Time rearrangements would ideally be made before the date of the Round. 2.2.5. Teams will play to win each match and their result used to place them on a Ladder. 2.2.6. The Ladder will order Teams by Wins, Kills, Assists and Gold. In the event that these are equal, Teams will be ordered by which team was higher placed on the Ladder prior to the commencement of the Round. 2.2.7. Points Structure Condition Points Awarded Match Win Match Loss 1 point 0 points 2.3. Final Round 2.3.1. The Final Round will use the 4-Team Page-McIntyre Playoff Structure. 2.3.2. Teams will be seeded based on points, where Rules and Regulations 2015 Page 3 of 7 Revised: 11th April, 2015

2.3.2.1. Semi-Final: Match A; 3rd plays 4th and Match B; 1st plays 2nd. 2.3.2.2. Preliminary Final: Match C; Loser B plays Winner A 2.3.2.3. Grand Final: Match D; Winner B plays Winner C 2.3.2.4. Tournament Winner: Winner D, Second Place: Loser D, Third Place: Loser C 2.3.3. It is the Conductors responsibility to ensure that all matches of the Final Round are completed on the day. 2.3.4. It is the Judges responsibility that all results are conclusive and final on the day. 2.3.5. The prizes will be handed to the appropriately placed teams in a prize ceremony on the day after all matches have concluded with formal results. 3. Teams and Competitors 3.1. Team 3.1.1. A Team is made up of at least 5 Competitors. 3.1.2. Teams are permitted to have 2 Substitute Competitors. 3.1.3. The Judges must approve any changes to the Competitor lineup. 3.2. Competitors 3.2.1. Competitors are expected to fulfill their commitments (1.2). 3.2.2. Substitutes are not permitted to replace a Competitor for more than a single Round. 3.2.3. Competitors will display acceptable and fair sportsmanship before, during and following Matches of the Tournament. 3.2.4. Competitors alias must be tactful and free of profanity; actual or implied. 4. Coverage 4.1. Website 4.1.1. The Aslan Premier DOTA2 Tournament website will be hosted at www.aslan.org.au. 4.1.2. The Conductors will use the website to convey news, images or photos from events and other promotions. 4.1.3. The Judges will update results, provide news on round results, provide information regarding rule changes, rule violations and disputes and any other information to be conveyed publicly. 4.2. Social Media 4.2.1. The Conductors will use social media to encourage others to be involved with and promote the Tournament. 4.2.2. The Judges may use social media to convey information as on the website. 4.3. Streaming 4.3.1. To boost reach of the Tournament, The Conductors may stream matches live to the rest of the LAN event or the Internet. 4.3.2. It is up to the Conductors to ensure that streams are delivered smoothly and do not affect the playability or result of the match. 4.4. Photographs and Videos 4.4.1. The Conductors may choose to compile videos of highlights of a match or the match in full. Rules and Regulations 2015 Page 4 of 7 Revised: 11th April, 2015

4.4.2. These photographs and videos will be made publicly available on whichever hosting service The Conductors deem suitable. 5. Matches 5.1. Hosting 5.1.1. Matches will be hosted on dedicated servers at the LAN event. 5.1.2. These dedicated servers will not be playable from the Internet. 5.1.3. The dedicated servers will use the same settings for the duration of the Tournament unless the Judges deem changes are required to ensure stability and fair play. 5.1.4. Competitors will not attempt to compromise the security and/or stability of a dedicated server or encourage or enlist another to do so. 5.2. Terminating 5.2.1. A terminated match does not produce a result. 5.2.2. Teams may not terminate a match. 5.2.3. The Judges may terminate a match for 5.2.3.1. Safety Reasons 5.2.3.2. A Server that has failed or has been compromised 5.2.3.3. Settings that make continuation of the match unfair 5.3. Scheduling 5.3.1. Match times will be scheduled prior to the LAN event a Round is to be held at. 5.3.2. Reasonable time must be given to Competitors so that they are able to arrange for any rescheduling prior to the event. 5.3.3. any rescheduling must be approved by the Judges. 5.3.4. Matches must be started at the designated starting time. Any team who cannot play at the designated starting time will forfeit the match unless 5.3.2 and 5.3.3 are met. 5.4. Abandonment 5.4.1. A Match is considered Abandoned when one or both teams fail to show or complete the Match 5.4.2. Abandonment is bad sportsmanship 5.4.3. Abandonment is not a grounds to force an appeal; or protest an appeal or decision 6. Rule Violations 6.1. A potential rule violation has occurred where a Competitor or Team has potentially breached agreement with either a) these Rules and Regulations; or b) has been deemed to have breached agreement by The Judges and/or The Conductors. 6.2. In the event a potential violation has been identified. A review of the situation will be called by the Judges and, if necessary, the Conductors. 6.3. The investigation and outcome will be formally announced and made known to all Competitors and Teams. Further announcements will be made by whichever means the Conductors choose to under the Coverage of the Tournament. 6.4. The Conductors need only be involved with the investigation if the rule violation has the potential to affect the running of the Tournament. 6.5. The Judges will decide on the appropriate penalty in the event that a violation has been deemed to occur. Rules and Regulations 2015 Page 5 of 7 Revised: 11th April, 2015

7. Appeals and Disputes 7.1. Formal Match Result Appeals 7.1.1. Any Team reserves the right to appeal the result of a Match so long as it is not being done out of spite and violates the good sportsmanship spirit of the Tournament. 7.1.2. A Match Appeal must be lodged within two hours after the formal result announcement. 7.1.3. The Team lodging the appeal will be required to clearly define the reason for the appeal, as this will be the point the Judges will make their decision against. 7.1.4. The Judges will review the Match and consider the reason for the appeal and, if required, seek further information from sources they deem suitable. 7.1.5. The Judges will formally announce their decision of the appeal 7.1.6. A Team may only appeal a result once. The decision made by the Judges is final. 7.2. Rule Violation Appeals 7.2.1. A Competitor or Team that has had a Rule Violation penalty issued against them has the right to appeal. 7.2.2. The Competitor or Team will be required to state their case as to the reason for the appeal. 7.2.3. The Judges and, if required, the Conductors will review the Rule Violation investigation taking into account the case made by the Competitor or Team. 7.2.4. An Appeal may only be made once. The decision of the Judges and the Conductors is final. 8. Conductors 8.1. Oversee the general running of the Tournament. 8.2. Ensure all Rounds and Matches are planned and coordinated. 8.3. Ensure the smooth running of Matches and their servers. 8.4. Effectively communicate all Rounds, Matches, Results, Announcements and any Violations and Appeals processes. 8.5. Will be flexible with arranging Match times. 8.6. Will be willing to participate in any Appeals process when required. 9. Judges 9.1. There shall be a minimum of 3 Judges for each round of matches. 9.2. The role of the Judges is to ensure that Competitors are conducting themselves fairly and in good sportsmanship. 9.3. That the rules are not being exploited and that the Rules and Regulations truly and accurately reflect the appropriate and intended running of the Tournament. 9.4. Will be considerate and open at all times. 9.5. Will not show bias. 9.6. Will be willing to take the time to make correct decisions 10. Penalties 10.1. Penalty Ranges 10.1.1. Penalties applied will depend on the severity of the incident. 10.1.2. It is the decision of the Judges to determine the appropriate penalty to be applied Rules and Regulations 2015 Page 6 of 7 Revised: 11th April, 2015

10.1.3. Minor incidents can attract penalties such as warnings, match result alterations and match bans. 10.1.4. Major incidents can attract penalties such as tournament points removal and tournament bans. 10.1.5. Competitors can be banned from competing in finals. 10.2. Warnings 10.2.1. A warnings system will be available to the Judges for use as a penalty. 10.2.2. The system is Two Strikes. 10.2.3. Competitors will receive only one warning throughout the tournament. A second warning issued during the tournament will result in a match ban. 10.2.4. After a match ban is served, the Competitor will have no warnings. 10.3. Evictions 10.3.1. The Judges and Conductors of the Tournament will reserve the right to be able to evict Competitors and Spectators from the venue. 10.3.2. In the event of an eviction, a Competitor or Spectator is not entitled to any refunds paid for entry to the venue. 10.4. Specific penalties applicable to these Rules and Regulations 10.4.1. Failure of 1.2.1, non-commitment to tournament. 10.4.1.1. Competitor will be banned from entering the following tournament. 10.4.1.2. Any team not committing will result in bans for each competitor and a ban on the use of the team name. 10.4.2. Failure of 1.2.2, failure to comply with rules and decisions 10.4.2.1. Judges will review the incident and decide the appropriate penalty 10.4.2.2. Penalties could range from warnings to tournament bans. 10.4.3. Failure of 1.2.4, failure to obtain valid entry to LAN event 10.4.3.1. Competitor will not be permitted to compete in their match. 10.4.3.2. Teams are permitted to use a substitute who has met entry requirements. 10.4.3.3. Remote participation is against the spirit of the tournament and will not be permitted. 10.4.4. Failure of 5.1, compromising the integrity of a hosted match 10.4.4.1. If Competitor has compromised then Judges will determine appropriate penalty. Minimum 1 match ban. 10.4.4.2. If other person, will be removed from the event and/or blacklisted from accessing servers. 10.4.5. Affect of 5.4; abandoning a match 10.4.5.1. 10.4.6.
