In an exercise based entirely on scenarios created by BIMCO for the Summer Shipping School, the participants will be employed in companies with interesting and exotic names such as Almost Chartering and Desperate Shipping (just to mention a few). The competition is fierce when you constantly have to find and match ships and positions. He was regularly consulted both by private clients and also by United Nations agencies and other international bodies in relation to industry-wide issues. He is the author of numerous articles on shipping law and is co author of the standard textbook Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims published by Lloyds of London Press (4th edition 2005). He is now a consultant to Ince & Co and a visiting professor, teaching maritime law at Swansea University. is a partner at Stephenson Harwood LLC, London, dealing with all aspects of shipping and international trade law, acting both for traders and shipowners, as well as their respective insurers. He has lectured in four continents, including events organised by BIMCO, universities, as well as the International Maritime Organization and others, and has also been on the editorial board of the Shipping and Transport Law Journal. He is singled out by both main legal directories, Chambers and Legal 500, as a leading individual in his areas of expertise. Stinne Taiger Ivø Stinne Taiger Ivø is Vice President and Head of Claims and FDD in Skuld Copenhagen. She has been with Skuld since 2015. She is Master of Law and was admitted to the Danish Bar in 2011 and obtained admission to the High Courts. She holds a PhD in International Company Law and has held a position as external lecturer at the University of Copenhagen in addition to publishing articles and a book. Before joining Skuld she held a position in Danish Shipping (2013-2015) and in Gorrissen Federspiel Law Firm (2008-2013) in Copenhagen. Lars Rosenberg Overby Lars Rosenberg Overby is partner of Hafnia Law Firm (www. hafnialaw.com) in Copenhagen. He graduated from the University of Copenhagen in 1991 and has practiced shipping law since. He represents clients in all areas of shipping and off shore law both in contentious and non-contentious cases. He has extensive experience with litigation in court and international arbitration. For a number of years he was assistant professor at the University of Copenhagen teaching maritime law. Lars Rosenberg Overby was a member of BIMCO s WINDTIME Subcommittee and is currently a member of Comité Maritime International s Polar Shipping Working Group. He has written numerous articles about his subject and contributed to a number of textbooks. Jesper Buhl Jesper Buhl is owner of BullPositions. He specialises in research and analysis of the commodity industry and commercial market. He also serves as External Lecturer and Researcher at Copenhagen Business School since 2017. Jesper has also worked as Editor for online and print publications with focus on the dry and wet shipping markets at Danish industry newspaper Søfart between 2014-2016. In 2013-2014, he served as Group CEO Communication Manager at Maersk Group, and provided inputs to the Group CEO s external communication on global themes and current topics related to the strategy for an international conglomerate in shipping and energy. He served as Commercial Analyst at DONG Energy 2009-2011, with focus on gas infrastructure project development. He has a Cand Oecon Agro from University of Copenhagen (2007-2009), BA, Business, Language and Economics from Copenhagen Business School (2004-2006) and Roskilde Business College, Shipping (2001-2003).
Speakers (continued) Christian Hoppe Christian is General Counsel at BIMCO. He is a lawyer and graduated from University of Copenhagen with a Master s degree in 2001 and an LL.M. with Distinction from the University of Southampton in 2004. He worked in the Secretariat for maritime policy at the Danish Maritime Authority from 2001, until joining the European Commission s Directorate-General for Maritime Transport and Energy in 2005, dealing with external relations in maritime transport as a seconded national expert. Christian joined BIMCO in 2009 and represents the association at a number of international meetings, including the International Maritime Organization s Legal Committee and the International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds. Christian is currently seconded to Danish law firm Gorrissen Federspiel, one of the leading advisors within the maritime industry. Jakob Påske Larsen Jakob P. Larsen joined BIMCO on 1 June 2018 to become Head of Security. Within Jakob s scope are all matters related to maritime security including piracy, drug smuggling, war, terrorism, stowaways, mixed mass migration and cyber security. In addition to maintaining a close dialogue with governments and international organizations, his role includes assisting members with all aspects of maritime security. In 2010, holding the rank of Commander, Jakob left the Danish Navy to become Maritime Security Officer in BIMCO. In 2013, after three successful years in BIMCO, Jakob changed over to Nordic Tankers where he expanded his responsibilities over time to become Head of HSSEQ. In 2015 Jakob went to Maersk Line to become Global Security & Marine QA Manager. During his time in Nordic Tankers and Maersk Line, he managed a number of security challenges all over the world, including operating small tankers and container ships in and out of the Niger Delta, pirate attacks, kidnaps, assissinations, evacuations, drug smuggling and stowaways. Grant Hunter Grant Hunter is Head of Contracts & Clauses at BIMCO, responsible for the development, revision and promotion of BIMCO s wide range of standard contracts and clauses. He has worked for BIMCO since 1997. Previous careers include five years at sea with the Ben Line and eight years working ashore in the commercial and operations department of P&O Bulk Shipping in London. Grant has a Master s in Maritime Policy and Law from the London School of Economics. Anna Wollin Anna Wollin, Manager, Contracts and Clauses at BIMCO, is involved in the development of BIMCO s wide range of standard contracts and clauses. She is a lawyer by training and holds a Master of Commercial Laws from University of Lund, Sweden and a Master of Maritime Laws from Southampton University, England. Anna joined BIMCO in 2007. Her previous employment includes working as a junior judge at a district court in Sweden and as an associate lawyer at a Swedish law firm. Mads Wacher Kjærgaard Mads Wacher Kjærgaard is Assistant Manager in BIMCO s Contracts & Clauses Department. He is involved in the development of BIMCO s wide range of standard contracts and clauses. Mads is a lawyer and graduated from the University of Copenhagen in 2017. Prior to joining BIMCO in 2018, he was employed at a worldwide credit insurance company. Throughout his studies he was employed by a Danish shipowner in their inhouse legal department dealing with a various shipping related and corporate tasks. Peter Grube Peter Grube is Head of Training: Courses and joined BIMCO in 1990. His first position was in the Support & Advice team, where he assisted BIMCO members with a wide range of commercial issues. In 2000 he was appointed Marketing & Sales Director of BIMCO, responsible for promoting and driving forward BIMCO s global position as a leading maritime organisation. In 2005 he transferred to BIMCO Training, developing, coordinating and delivering BIMCO courses and seminars world-wide. Prior to joining BIMCO he worked in ship ownership in Copenhagen as well as sale & purchase in Greece. He is a graduate from the Danish School for International Marketing & Export and is a Chartered Shipbroker (FICS). He holds a Master s in Education and Learning from Roskilde University (RUC).
