Measuring Instructions 1. Check customers requirements and decide on the best type of awning for the application. 2. Always check if main protection required is for SUN or WEATHER protection. This will determine the choice of awning. 3. The awning will require a flat surface from which to attach your mounting channel. If this is not available you must create it i.e. Timber, Aluminium etc. NOTE: Awning must be attached every 250mm minimum. 4. Check the style of window i.e. Casement Awning Sliding or Sash Styles 5. Head clearance (usually 2000mm minimum). 6. Light fittings etc. (may need to be moved by an electrician). 7. Distance from fence line (most Councils require objects no closer than 150mm) 8. Height of awning (may require trestles, planks, ladders). 9. Height of awning over window. A. Windows with architraves - fit on architraves B. Windows with bricks above - fit top of second brick C. Windows without bricks - top of window D. Facia board - minimum amount of facia 60mm * With windows with no bricks above, a timber or aluminium headboard must be installed between the bricks, to attach awning upon. Information Required 1. Position of awning. 2. Width. 3. Skin length. 4. Fixing angle. 5. Additional arms or posts (if required). 6. Additional length of arms (if required). 7. Cutouts. 8. Fixing position for installer. 9. Timber and size of timber (if required). 10. Ladders and trestles. 11. Closed sides. 12. Extended sides. 13. Trusses. 14. Mitres. 1. From face of building 2. Measuring Instructions Architrave and Brick Wall Fascia Mounted (minimum depth 60mm) + 300mm minimum over window size + 600mm over window size To Measure Awning Skin If total window drop is: Less than 1200mm Use 900mm skin 1200mm to 1800mm Use 1050mm skin Above 1800mm Use 1200mm skin Over doors 1200mm minimum Order = Overall Width View awning from outside looking in If head clearance is not an issue, pitch at 25º. To Measure awning width 1. Check for obstructions i.e. Lights downpipes etc. 2. Measure width of opening and add 150mm per side if fixed to an architrave or brick wall. Add 300mm per side if fixing to a facia or over doors. 3. Refer to price list and select closest increment width listed. 4. If your measurement falls between two increment widths then always select the width above (check for obstructions). 5. If it is necessary to make an awning to an exact width, e.g. to fit between two walls, then give opening size and specify SPECIAL INCREMENT. TIE RODS - Tie rods connected to the top of the awning can be used to support the awning back to the wall above the awning, where there is insufficient fixing for arm and trusses on window mullions. Awning Terminology REPLACES ISSUE DATE: JANUARY 2011 APPROVED BY: M.SOMI PAGE 8 OF 44

Skin Rules: 1. Measure up 1980mm from ground and mark position for Head Clearance. 2. Top mounting position of Awning 150mm above window. 3. Distance between mounting position and head clearance point = awning drop. 4. Rule 3 does not apply to second storey high windows. 5. Where head clearance is not necessary take half window drop as awning drop. Also check that lowest edge of awning does not obscure vision from inside room, i.e. 1750mm above floor. To Calculate Awning Projection: (As a guide, use half window drop for projection). REPLACES ISSUE DATE: JANUARY 2011 APPROVED BY: M.SOMI PAGE 9 OF 44

To determine actual awning dimensions: Refer to the table of awning style required to select the awning with projection and drop closest to your measurements. If your measurements indicate an angle very different from those set out, then a simple calculation to change the proportions can be made. Example: Meridian Awning Original Measurements - Projection 1200mm - Drop 1200mm = 45º angle Rule: To alter angle and retain same coverage - add an amount to Projection and subtract an equal amount from Drop (or subtract from Projection and add to Drop). INCREMENTS SUGGESTED 150mm. 1050MM FIXING HEIGHT 1350MM Example: Projection Drop 1200mm + 150mm = 1350mm 1200mm -150mm = 1050mm 1200MM 1200MM SUN S RAYS SAVE COVERAGE DIFFERENT STYLE Refer back to table, again select awning with projection and drop closest to your measurements. In this case, Projection 1410mm, Drop 971mm = 30 o and select price of width required. WINDOW SILL REPLACES ISSUE DATE: JANUARY 2011 APPROVED BY: M.SOMI PAGE 10 OF 44

Fixed Awnings Mitred Awnings (External & Internal) Actual wall dimensions from the end of the awning to the corner of the building are required, together with skin cover and awning angle. Measuring: Both wall measurements are required i.e. dimension one 3000, dimension two 2000. Internal Mitre Pricing - Dimension 1 = 3000 2 = 2000 Plus mitre price in price book External Mitre Pricing - Dimension 1 = 3000 Plus projection of awning = 3900 2 = 2000 Plus mitre price in price book Extended Side REPLACES ISSUE DATE: JANUARY 2011 APPROVED BY: M.SOMI PAGE 11 OF 44

Options - Understructure Standard Awning This is the most popular Awning. Projections range from 540mm up to 1200mm and angles from 15º up to 45º. These Awnings are installed with a rigid understructure. The angles of 5º and 10º should be avoided as the awning will leak at flat angles. TYPE A TYPE B Truss Supported Awning These cover the larger size Awnings with projections from 1200mm up to 2700mm. The Awning is supported from the wall on a cantilever type truss. Angles of 5º and 10º should be avoided as these require special understructure. Normal installation angles are 15º, 20º, 25º and 30º. TRUSS TYPE 1 TRUSS TYPE 2 TRUSS TYPE 3 Door Canopy A rigid Awning installed with closed sides only (no intermediate trusses). It is available in projections up to 1200mm and in standard widths of 980, 1280 and 1590mm. The angle is always 15º. REPLACES ISSUE DATE: JANUARY 2011 APPROVED BY: M.SOMI PAGE 36 OF 44
