Environmental Management and Sustainability WHO MADE THIS Salzburg Urstein Institut and Urstein University Berlin - University of Applied Sciences With our life-long experience in the academic and business world, and with our network of professionals in all areas from academics to politics and all industries we created our special programmes. Numerous institutions are offering a great variety of various degrees, passing on engineering and management skills what sets us apart is the engineering approach to managerial, innovation, sustainability, media and intercultural issues. We aim at giving our students a head start by equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully, innovatively and sustainably operate in a globalised economy. The Salzburg Urstein Institut and our founded University of Applied Sciences bring the fresh spirit of newly founded institutions yet we benefit from the long European tradition of philosophers, art historians, management theorists, engineers, innovation specialists, designers, media scientists, sustainability experts and researchers. In the long run, we focus on re-inventing academic life in continental Europe while opening it up to the global community. The Salzburg Urstein Institut and our University of Applied Sciences offer three types of programmes in the fields of Management & Entrepreneurship, Intercultural Communication, Media Science, Sustainability and European Culture always adding Systematic Innovation also referred to as Design Thinking and globalisation competence to each of them. The academic courses take place in Salzburg and Berlin, and are accompanied by an extensive Cultural Practice Programme for first-hand experience of Europe. Salzburg Urstein Institut 3

Environmental Management and Sustainability INTERCULTURAL COMPETENCE AND NETWORKING Besides ensuring an excellent education, we attach great importance to the mutual exchange between students, our faculty as well as all involved individuals, companies and institutions. This exchange gives way to a vast discourse helping its participants to acquire knowledge, to foster cultural understanding and thus to open new doors. On the long run, the only way to create a globalised economy where everybody can have their share is by creating embodied synergies and true collaboration. ACADEMIC AND BUSINESS NETWORK A widespread network of internationally operating professionals participated in the conception of the Salzburg Urstein Institut from beginning on. The outcome of this cooperation is an unparalleled international higher education programme dedicated to setting new standards in this field. To pursue this ambition, together with our students we strive to take up our position as one of the leading excellence universities in the official rankings. We condensed the two-year programme to a 18 months stay in Europe and complement it with our non-mandatory Cultural Practice Programme to extend your study experience on an even more practical level. Upon graduation, our network in Europe will be yours including high-class firms that offer internships for our graduates to gain even more hands-on experience. Course information MASTER OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY Manage sustainable change. Formerly a niche topic, environmental studies have become a key prerequisite for future competitive ability. Man-made climate change is one of the most critical challenges we face today and the way a company deals with this issue constitutes a strong selling point for the public. The master programme in Environmental Management and Sustainability covers topics ranging from carbon footprints, climate modelling, environmental ethics, biodegradable materials to the challenges of mobility and megacities. SUSTAINABILITY IN ECONOMY AND RESEARCH FOR A BETTER ENVIRONMENT With respect to future generations, there is an urgent need both within technology and policy for developing innovative solutions for environmental problems. The major challenge facing sustainability management is to balance conservation interests with demands for economic growth. Our master programme provides a broadbased background in both natural and social sciences as well as in environmental ethics to understand climate change, to explore solutions and to have a solid foundation for decision making in practice. CATALYSTS OF CHANGE Executives and young professionals will learn about the existing transition challenges to turn their companies into catalysts of an exemplary path towards sustainability. Graduates will not only be apt and ready to work in the producing industry, managing sustainable product development, but also in the field of CSR, redesigning company structures in a sustainable way, including governments and non-profit organizations. With this Master Programme, you earn an internationally accredited Master of Science with the full range of 120 ECTS. 6 Salzburg Urstein Institut
