ddendum: lementine ULtra Notes, Schematic & Hooup Here are my basic lementine ULtra notes. I can add more commentary later. In a nutshell, I discounted an ultra-linear lementine due to the high plate impedance thus extremely poor damping and high amplifier Z. ut with 6d of negative feedbac, we gain parity with the triode configuration plus we get more output power as the mu is higher in an ultra-linear configuration. amping factor was measu at. (UL without feedbac is less than and selective distortion wreas havoc) and the distortion was mostly nd harmonic even at max power - ey triode 'signatures'. Read more about this in RH pages 6 and following. Note how beam tetrodes are superior to pentodes for this application. The only negative in the ULtra is the high input voltage needed -.6V for W - so a preamp is needed and an ipod will not drive it. Mods from the lementine 6L6 uild in the main thread: - Remove R and R6 (no triode strap resistors) - onnect ultra-linear taps to J- and J- - Use connectors at J0 and J or solder directly to the pads. I used ROM audio cables since they are cheap shielded cables. The output secondary (+) goes to J0- and J- respectively. The output secondary (-) goes to J0- and J- respectively. - R and R are 60 ohm resistors with 600pF (i.e. 6.nF or.006uf) strapped across them. I am using cheap ceramic discs. good temp rating or voltage rating is not important. You are then done, and have about twice the power. It sounds pretty awesome, with the nd harmonic is 00% there and no irritating dominant rd harmonic.
