DESCRIPTION OF THE EQUIPMENT The models SAA and SAC are current controllers for sngle phase lnes n AC. The models SAB and SAD are current controllers for lnes n DC. The model SAJ s a relay for the supply and control of a 4-20mA current loop. They can control the followng parameters: - Maxmum and/or mnmum current. RMS value n SAA and SAC. Average value n SAB, SAD and SAJ. - Network frequency (SAA / SAC) - DC component (SAA / SAC) - Maxmum and/or mnmum frequency (SAA / SAC) - Maxmum DC component (SAA / SAC) - Maxmum rpple (SAB / SAD) The actons derved of the control of the dfferent parameters can be assocated to three relays, to 4-20mA loop or to a seral communcaton RS232 or. One or more parameters can be assocated to each one of the avalable relays (see the Techncal Data n page 3 to know the possble ncompatbltes). CONVENTIONS USED IN THIS MANUAL References Ths manual s vald for the models SAA, SAB, SAC, SAD and SAJ. Snce certan nformatons are not vald for all the models, n the top row of each page are stated the references of the models explaned n that page. Symbols It refers to the nformaton own of the theme that s treated.! Indcate mportant warnngs to take nto account. It refers to how the keys must be pressed to perform the actons ndcated n the examples. General nformaton about the controller or about ths manual, too. Screens In the pages where s explaned how to access to the dfferent screens and menus (page 9), t s shown the way to come up to the resoluton of every opton. Ths way s hghlghted by a dark background of the screens related n that opton. The unon of several screens by means of a dashed lne, means that the opton s vald for all of them. 7

GENERAL CONCEPTS Loop 4-20 ma (optonal): The value sent by the 4-20mA loop can be whchever of the followng ones: - Indrect current or the selected readng unt (SAA, SAB) - Indrect voltage or the selected readng unt (SAC, SAD, SAJ) - Frequency (SAA, SAC) See the page 41 to assocate a value to the current loop. Communcaton wth PC (optonal): It s possble to communcate the controllers SAA, SAB, SAC, SAD and SAJ wth a computer va the seral port RS232 for ts remote programmng or to process the data that t generates. For a standngalone communcaton, the programmng nterface CBPZ s requred. For a multple communcaton (up to 31 equpments) a RS232- conversor must be used, reference SBAZ. Dsplay s llumnaton: The dsplay remans llumnated whle ts s accessed to the dfferent screens. If any key s not pressed for longer than 30 seconds, the lght turns off. In order to turn the lght on, t s enough to press any key once only. Workng mode: After settng up the controller s parameters, t can be back to the normal workng mode by executng the opton from the set up menu. The status screens can be also vsualzed f any key s not pressed for longer than 3 mnutes. Interactve menus: Only those optons that can be confgured are accessble n menus, beng the rest of the they no vsble. Ths characterstc s nteractve, ths s, that t s produced automatcally n functon of the actve optons at each moment. Change of values: The screens used to change a numercal value contan the margns between that value can be adjusted. These margns can depend on another optons, so that they can vsualze dfferent values n functon of another prevous relatons. Assgnaton of magntudes: Each relay can be actvated by the control of one or varous magntudes. For exemple, t can be assgned to the acton by maxmum voltage and mnmum frequency, although when the relay s actvated, t s not possble to know whch magntude has provoked t. 8

The default status screen s the one shown when the equpment s powered or when any key s not pressed for longer than 3 mnutes. In order to modfy a text, s necessary to enter agan nto the edton screen. In order to abandon ths screen s essental to advance untl the last poston of the last row. 9

TYPES OF SCREENS (5/5) 5.1 Screens menus Are those n whch s vsualzed a seres of screens, all them related under the same concept. The dgts placed at the top of the screen ndcate, from top to down, the number of the selected screen and the total number of screens. The screens are dsposed n an endless loop, n such a way than after the last screen t comes to the frst one of the seres. In the same way, movng back from the frst screen t comes to the last one of the seres. RELE 1 MODULE DETECTION 1Mod Each one of the screens usually dsplays the defnton of a parameter and ts actual value. Press the keys to move to a new screen and to modfy the value vsualzed n t. If no-one value s vsualzed on the screen, pressng t s accessed to a new menu. In order to abandon a screens menu and return to the precedng one, the screen must be selected. MODULE RELEASE 1Mod TIMER DETECTION 10.00 S TIMER RELEASE 13

QUICK START 1-2 - 3 - Keep wthout voltage the nput sgnal (termnals Y1 and Z1) and the output relay dsconnected. Apply supply voltage to the termnals A1 and A2. Be sure that t be concdent wth the value marked n the housng. The green led must be turned on. Now there s not mportant whether the red leds related wth the relays are turned on or off. Because there s not nput sgnal, the status screens dsplay nonreal values, fluctuatng constantly. Set up the parameters that your applcaton needs. Now you can choose two solutons: confgure each parameter ndvdually (see Advanced Programmng, page 18) or use the «user programs» that, as an example, contans several parameters already confgured for some typcal applcatons. You wll only need to modfy those parameters belongng to your partcular applcaton. Read carefully the descrpton of these programs and see f they becomes adapted to your needs. (see pages 15..18). Don t mnd f the relays swtch on/off whle your are settng up the controller: remember that the nput sgnal s not appled. 4 - Swtch off the supply voltage. 5-6 - 7 - Be sure that the current to be controlled s wthn the measurement margns of the controller. Take nto account the polarty n the models SAB, SAD and SAJ. Apply smultaneously the supply voltage and the current to be controlled. In the case that both lnes can not be connected smultaneously, connect always the supply voltage frst than the current to be controlled. Confrm that the state of the relay s the requred one by checkng the red leds n the front of the housng. If everythng s rght, turn the supply voltage off and connect the output relays accordng to the condtons of your nstallaton. When the supply voltage s appled agan, the controller s ready for normal operaton. 14

USER PROGRAMS (1/7) User programs are permanent n the controllers SAA, SAB, SAC, SAD and SAJ. In order to modfy them, load the program you desre (for example, number 1) nto memory by means of the sequence --PROGRAM 1. Modfy the parameters, values, tmers, etc. and do the opportune checkngs untl everythng work correctly. Bear n mnd that the dsconnecton of the supply voltage does not provoke the loss of data. For your safety, save your changes by means of the sequence SET UP--SAVE PROG. (see page 45). Remember than every tme that Program 1 s loaded nto memory, the default factory parameters wll be restored. If the User Program s loaded (- -PROG USER), you wll obtan the parameters that you modfed (see page 46). It s not requred to load any user program when the equpment turns on: t s kept the same confguraton that was operatve the last tme that the equpment was turned off. 15

ADVANCED PROGRAMMING If you want to program by your own the controllers SAA, SAB, SAC, SAD and SAJ t s not necessary to load any program. Set the parameters showed n the screens that appear when turnng the equpment on for the frst tme. Follow the steps below before begnnng to program: 1 - Determne what acton wll make each relay (Ex.: relay 1 to control the overcurrent, relay 2 to control the frequency, ). Bear n mnd the followng characterstcs: 1.1 - Dfferent relays can control the same magntude (Ex.: To set up two set ponts for a mnmum voltage, actve the detecton by mnmum voltage for the relays 1 and 2, and set a dfferent value to each one of them). 1.2 - Dferent magntudes can be assocated to the same relay. 2 - Determne what actons wll be tmed (Ex.: 3 seconds when detectng overcurrent, 5 seconds f the frequency s low, ). 3 - Begn to program. Remember that certan optons wll be avalable accordng to whch are settled n other prevous optons. Enter to the menu and select. Look for the screen DEFINITION WORKING MODE and select t. Actve and deactve the optons of the screens of ths menu accordng to your prevous plannng. If you want to add tmng to the detecton or to the release, set the screens MODE DETECTION or MODE RELEASE lke DELAYED, respectvely. In the followng screen you wll be able to set the tme unts.
