DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS Prof. R.L.N. Sai Prasad, Head, Dept. of Physics, NIT Warangal. physics_hod@nitw.ac.in saiprd@nitw.ac.in +91-9490165363 Since its inception in 1959, the Department of Physics has kept pace with developments in advanced areas in the discipline, the introduction of a three year M.Sc. (Tech.) in Photonics and Electronics Technologies in Engineering Physics course with specializations reflecting that mindset. Such courses aim to develop professionals who are versatile and conversant with the needs of the industry. Admissions to the course are made through an All India Entrance Test - Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM). Apart from its regular coursework, the course includes Industrial Training of eight weeks and six months of Project Work/Dissertation in various reputed R&D Organizations and industries. The Department strives to provide a balanced blend of both Science and Engineering curriculum and hands-on training for students. The course curriculum is upgraded regularly in keeping with the ever changing needs and demands of the industry.

ELECTRONICS SPECIALIZATION M.Sc. (Tech.) in Electronics strives to provide cutting edge knowledge and exposure to modern technological innovations and requirements of the industries with special emphasis on Electronics and Communication. The Department has dedicated and experienced faculty members providing high quality education, which is on a par with industrial requirements. PHOTONICS SPECIALIZATION Recent advances in Photonics in the fields of communication, imaging, health care and Medicine, Defence, Optics and Electronics have all contributed to spectacular new applications in every sphere of our lives. This course helps in the creation of professionals to cater for the needs of various R&D Organizations, Defence labs and Industries. Photonics lab has sophisticated equipment to address student needs.
