The AOP Photography Awards is one of the most prestigious competitions in commercial professional photography. Now in its 33rd year, the competition remains highly regarded by commissioners, art buyers and photographers alike. 2015 in numbers 1 launch party 3 day exhibition 900+ guests 1000+ visitors 50+ media attendees Last year s event, which was hosted by renowned journalist and BBC London radio presenter Robert Elms, welcomed over 900 guests to the presentation ceremony and another 1,000 visitors over the following 3 day exhibition. In addition 50 individuals from the media attended the event, resulting in coverage in Creative Review (1.1million followers), Ephotozine (1,600 visitors per month), Evening Standard (272,000 visits a week), Daily Express (291,000 visits a week), Sunday Times (178,000 visits a week) and Photo Professional (print circulation of 11,600). This year s event promises to be even bigger as we take residency at The Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane for the Awards presentation, followed by a packed programme of events, talks and seminars alongside the exhibition of the winning and finalists images running between 11 17 October. Categories include Photography: Commissioned Advertising; Design; Editorial; non-commissioned Portrait; Life; Object; Environment; Fashion & Beauty; and Project, open to AOP Photographer members. New for 2016 is the AOP Breakthrough Award; Assisting Photographer members can enter the Photography categories alongside our more established photographers, with the chance of being selected as a breakthrough photographer within that group. The Open category remains open to members and nonmembers, professionals, assistants, students and amateurs alike, and includes Stills and Moving Image categories. The exhibition is presented once again in association with: Photoblock, a collection of photographic events in October 2016 at The Old Truman Brewery, which itself takes place during East London s Photography Festival, offering a range of free seminars, workshops and demonstrations for professional photographers, photo assistants, students, and imaging professionals.
