Tracking Argo DOIs Added monthly snapshot DOI link to data access page & beginner s guide page DOI for Argo float data and metadata from Global Data Assembly Centre has been officially cited 2 times (Cole, GRL 215 & Durski, DSR-II, 215 (in press) ) I ve attributed it to 153 publications that cite GDAC usage (began this in March 215) Five monthly snapshots have been cited by Roemmich, NCC, 215, Faure, JO, 215, Legler, JOO, 215, Riser, NCC, 216 If journals or funding agencies are going to be requiring reproducible and/ or public data, more education may be needed on Argo DOIs I ll update citation information to reflect Argo s single DOI

Papers published by Argo PIs 24% Action item from AST-16: Keep track of how many papers are published by Argo PIs vs others. Ask AST members to send M. Scanderbeg a list of PIs in their country. 76% Countries who have given me a list of Argo PIs: Canada China France Germany South Africa USA At least one author is an Argo PI No author is an Argo PI AST members from remaining countries are considered Argo PIs
Current status of thesis citation list Contains over 186 doctorate theses using Argo data 36 theses added since last AST meeting Based on my searches and feedback from AST members Thanks to Franch, Germany, and Japan for including dissertations in National Report Will include only theses with verified Argo data usage either via access to document or by someone else familiar with thesis 3 25 186 theses since 22 2 15 1 5
Conclusions Argo bibliography continues to grow and add value to program Continuing to look for ways to make bibliography more useful and to keep more statistics on it. Please send me any thoughts on this. mscanderbeg@ucsd.edu Single DOI is now possible; need to update this information on the websites
How well do my searches work? Based on feedback from National Reports from Canada, China, Germany, Greece,Italy, Japan, and Spain Total of 133 citations Missing ones in English fell into two categories Did not mention Argo Was in a journal not searched Conclusions Percentage of citations Method to search for peer reviewed papers in journals is working well Still reliant on authors/ast reps to send citations of papers where Argo is used, but not directly mentioned in paper Talk to BGC group to get journal names to search 5% Found Missing (in English) Missing (in other language) 2% 75%
