The ctul vlue of the lod or residul current is sent over the ABB i-bus EB s 1-byte telegrm. n ddition, threshold vlues cn be prmeterized cusing 1-bit switching telegrms to be sent should the current exceed or go below these levels. The is to be used exclusively for the purpose of lod nd residul current mesurement. t is not permissible, together with switching ctutors, to use this device in plce of the specified primry protection devices ( miniture circuit brekers or residul current circuit brekers)! 2

The device cn, however, mesure overlod currents up to n bsolute mximum of 25 A for short periods of time (< 1 hr, mx. one mesurement circuit per device). The lod nd residul current mesurement vlues re trnsmitted over the in the form of 1-byte telegrms. When using digitl displys where scling fctor of 25.5 cn not be progrmmed, the fctor 26 should be used. The displyed vlue will hve n incresed error of + 2%. Appliction Softwre Current Vlue Threshold/1 2 Appliction softwre 2.1 Communiction objects The ppliction softwre "Current Vlue Threshold/1" hs in totl 12 communiction objects: six 1-bit nd six 1-byte objects. Ech of the 3 mesurement circuits hve: one 1-byte communiction object for the lod current vlue, one 1-byte communiction object for the residul current vlue, one 1-bit communiction object for the lod current threshold signl nd one 1-bit communiction object for the residul current threshold signl. All communiction objects re output -type objects. Ech communiction object cn be ssigned single group ddress. 2.2 Prmeter window: Vi the prmeter window Generl, the prmeter "Accurcy of RMS Generl mesurement vlue" cn be set. This setting ffects the time tken to mke current mesurement nd lso the ccurcy of the mesurement when mesuring non sinusoidl currents. There re three possible settings norml, incresed nd high which pply universlly to ll mesurement circuits. f the prmeter setting "Accurcy of the RMS mesurement vlue" is ltered, the help text Suitble for nd Durtion of mesurement cycle utomticlly chnges ccordingly (see digrm). norml: The setting norml hs the shortest mesurement time nd is suitble for mesurement in circuits with simple ohmic lods, e.g. incndescent lmps or heting elements. The length of mesurement cycle, i.e. the time tken before the sme mesurement is repeted, is equl to 3.3 sec multiplied by the number of ctivted mesurement circuits. incresed: The setting incresed is suitble for lod circuits with mixed consumer lods, e.g. PC's together with lighting circuits. The length of mesurement cycle is equl to 6.6 sec multiplied by the number of ctivted mesurement circuits. 4

Appliction Softwre Current Vlue Threshold/1 high: The setting high hs the longest mesurement time nd is most suited to circuits with electronic or non-liner lods tht drw non sinusoidl currents, e.g. dimmers nd electronic bllst s, or electroniclly controlled lods, for exmple, motors. The length of mesurement cycle is equl to 10 sec multiplied by the number of ctivted mesurement circuits. 2.3 Prmeter window: For ech mesurement circuit A, B nd C the prmeters for lod nd Lod / Residul current residul current mesurement cn be configured seprtely from one Circuits A,B,C nother. Ech mesurement circuit hs the following prmeter options: Function, Send mesurement vlue on chnge of more thn, Upper threshold vlue nd Lower threshold vlue. 5

Appliction Softwre Current Vlue Threshold/1 Function: Mesurement of the lod or residul current in ech of the respective mesurement circuits cn be configured none or ctivted. Send mesurement vlue on chnge of more thn: The mesured current vlue is sent s 1-byte telegrm over the. n order to prevent unnecessry telegrm trnsmission, for exmple, in instlltions where the current oscilltes round n verge vlue, (e.g. low frequency ripple), this prmeter llows the mesurement circuit to be configured such tht the mesured vlue is only sent when the current hs chnged by defined mount compred to the lst sent vlue. f the setting +/- 0.0A is progrmmed, the mesured vlue is sent every mesurement cycle. Notice: f lrge vlues for the current difference re set, the ctul current vlue cn vry gretly from the lst sent vlue. Upper threshold vlue / Lower threshold vlue: 1-bit switching telegrms re sent vi, when, s shown below, both upper nd lower threshold levels re crossed one fter the other in the sme direction. The threshold vlues cn be set s prmeters. 16 14 12 Telegrm '1' Telegrm '0' Current 10 8 6 4 2 Upper Threshold Lower Threshold 0 0 Time 3 Appliction Exmples 3.1 Disply of The cn be used to disply the ctul opertionl sttus of opertionl sttus: electricl consumers, independent of whether they re EB devices or not. The opertionl sttus of the lod is obtined indirectly by mesuring the lod current. f, s in the exmple below, the circuit current should exceed both threshold levels, n On telegrm is sent. f the current vlue goes below the predefined thresholds, n Off telegrm is trnsmitted. These On, Off telegrms cn be displyed, e.g. on disply pnel by mens of tbleu unit or the universl concentrtor. The dt produced from such n nlysis cn give erly wrning of possible problem nd be used s the bsis for plnning nd inititing inspection or repir work before filure of the instlltion occurs. Current mesurement vlues re sent whenever, for exmple, increses in the residul current re detected. These telegrms cn be evluted using PC nd displyed s trend curves, llowing chnges in the instlltion over longer periods of time to be clerly seen. Together with the informtion over the opertionl sttus of the electricl consumers, i.e. which lods re ctive nd when, defective consumer cn be quickly nd esily identified.
