WE BELIVE IN CARPET DIEM Our beautiful hand-knotted rugs are the result of a lengthy work process that involves a great many steps. The craftsmanship of making modern rugs takes place in small villages in India, typically in the Uttar Pradesh region in northern India near the Ganges River. Most often, it is in the small communities where the process of manufacturing the unique rugs begins. The raw material is either wool or viscose, which is spun into gorgeous yarns used by the experienced rug knotters. On old-fashioned looms, they transform the beautiful materials into stunning rugs. Knotting rugs is a complicated job and the process can take several months. A rug that has undergone the knotting process looks far from finished. The yarns and knots have not been through the finishing process and the colours do not resemble those of the final palette. After knotting, the rugs are washed in a very simple and traditional method under open skies with WE EXPECT EVERYONE TO KEEP AN EYE ON THE DETAILS AND LOVE THE CRAFTSMANSHIP AS MUCH AS WE DO REZA REJAYE WE KNOW HOW TO DO THINGS RIGHT clean water and the use of traditional tools. This causes all excess colour to be washed out and the yarns take on a smooth and soft texture. When the washing process is complete, the rugs are dried in the sun. The rugs are stretched on wooden frames and often laid on roofs and large terraces to dry. It s an incredibly beautiful sight to look out over the small towns with carpeted roofs and terraces. Drying the rugs in the strong sun helps to bring depth to the colours and patterns. When the rugs have dried, skilled rug trimmers go to work with small scissors to adjust the rug to size. This is done very carefully and with concentration, and it is here that the rugs truly obtain their exclusive appearance. Our buyers then individually select the rugs that will join Rezas collection of unique hand-knotted rugs. 4 5

SEDUCTION Seduction is an exclusive collection featuring a wide variety of designs, patterns and colours, ranging from dramatic red and deep blue to the familiar Scandinavian hues. The designs are all hand-picked by Rezas Oriental & Modern Rugs directly from the local weavers in India, so not two rugs are the same. The thinking behind this collection was to create a universe of exciting colours and inspirational designs that appeal to customers worldwide. The Seduction collection is of very high quality, hand-knotted with 100 knots per square inch. This makes a very dense, durable surface and enhances both the colour and the structure of the pattern. WHAT IS GENUINE DAMASK? The Damask collection from Rezas Oriental & Modern Rugs is a fantastic series of unique rugs that are hand-knotted with their own distinctive features. There is a wide palette of variants and the possibilities are diverse. Our designers behind the collection constantly strive to renew and inspire. The result is an incredibly vibrant collection in a fabulous mix of patterns and colours. The collection has both classic patterns inspired by different eras and completely modern designs inspired by contemporary trends. The skilled artisans who create the Damask patterns spend several months on each rug and the yarns are selected with great care. Often the yarns are selected in smaller batches, causing the rug to develop effects that match the real genuine rugs. These rugs can also be obtained in special measurements. All Vintage Royal rugs are old pieces that have been stonewashed and recycled. The colours are primarily bright, but also dark, or even bold, colours are also used. Common to each piece is visibility of the old patterns that the rugs originally had. The rugs used for Vintage Royal are of very high quality and can be between 50 and 100 years old. The Persian rugs are sourced from private homes, at markets and bazaars throughout Persia and are specifically selected for this purpose. With Vintage Royal you don t just get a rug, you also get a unique piece of antique Persian craftsmanship. Vintage Royal is the perfect link between classic history and modern interior design. VINTAGE RECYCLING AND UPCYCLING ARE AN IMPORTANT PART OF REZAS ORIENTAL & MODERN RUGS STRATEGY ROYAL Vintage Royal Fine is one of the most important products in this strategy, helping to showcase our social responsibility and demonstrate our creativity. The first step is to source the old semi-antique rugs that are suitable for this purpose. The rugs can be very old, and their exact age is not always known. They are found in a limited number of Persian provinces, of which Kerman, Ravar, Mashhad and Tabriz are the best. They are all large rugs of at least six square metres in size. The art is to source old rugs with just the right amount of wear. They are then cut, stonewashed and dried in the sun to delicately bring out the original pattern. The top layer (the pile) of the rugs is also removed, giving them a perfect worn vintage effect that complements the natural hues of the carpet. If the old rugs have to be dyed, we use plant dyes made by our skilled dyeing experts according to their traditional, old recipes. The dyeing process is a very labour-intensive, risky process, where a lot can go wrong. No one knows how the dyeing will turn out. That s what makes each of the upcycled rugs so unique. The unique Royal Vintage Fine rug that adorns the floor of the end customer will be the only one of its kind. As you can see, there is a unique history and process behind each rug both a history that we know nothing about and a recycling and upcycling process that breathes new life into the old, semi-antique rugs. 18 19
ATTRACTION ATTRACTION IS THE FOURTH COLLECTION IN OUR NEW DESIGN LINE. The basic idea behind these collections is the same: Nordic colours and styles. However, each collection has its own look and can be mixed and matched according to taste. Attraction is also hand-knotted and made of pure viscose. The viscose accentuates the colours and gives the rug a shiny surface. These rugs are also hand-knotted with 100 knots per square inch, making them incredibly durable. LESS BUT GET THE RIGHT SIZE OF RUG ANYWAY IS MORE WHAT AND WHERE IS SHANGRI LA? The mythical place Shangri La in the mountains of Tibet is the source of inspiration for this collection. The myth of Shangri La is long and whether it is a myth or reality is relegated to the unknown. But over time, Shangri La has come to signify an untouched, hidden place with a wise and happy population. The patterns are beautiful and atmospheric. The bright colour scheme is inspired by the Kunlun Mountains, where the city of Shangri La was located, according to the legend. Although the myth is ancient, our Shangri La collection s contemporary appearance, bright colours and beautiful patterns are easily incorporated into most homes. INDIA SOFT SARI SILK Sari Silk TX-3422 available in sizes from 170 x 240 cm to 250 x 300 cm One of the fascinating things about India is their use of colour. A rich array of bright colours are used in all types of textiles, particularly the brightly-coloured saris worn by women. A sari is typically nine metres long and is worn by most Indian women, both as everyday wear and on festive occasions. Saris come in countless colours and patterns, all according to taste and fashion. It was the Indian weavers who came up with the idea of reusing saris to make rugs instead of throwing them out. We thought this was a great idea an idea that inspired us to make the Sari Silk collection. The thread from the beautiful saris imbues the rugs with shine, colour and a bohemian touch. Sari Silk is available in both bright and lighter colour blends. As with all our products, this collection is also handmade. 26 27
ARC DE SANT PURE NORDIC MINIMALISM Arc de Sant means rainbow. Our rainbows do not have many colours, but we have created a rainbow effect in each individual rug.
