TO READ CAREFULLY IMPORTANT INFORMATION CONCERNING INSTALLATION Principle of assembly and disassembly Unlocking Screw fastening clips to the load-bearing support before laying down boards. Slot the board tabs into the fastening clips. The clip blade pivots in the groove and locks the board in place on the fastening clip. Release the blade to remove boards one at a time. The steel tongue blocks the blade in the closed position. To unblock the blade, insert the hook end of the key tool in the tongue hole. Turn the blade with a second key tool while the tongue is raised. Locking Respect expansion space A space of 7 mm between boards and contiguous elements (joinery, wall, other decking boards) should be left to enable any natural expansion of the boards. Clip Key tool 45 Blade + locking tongue Screw 7 mm Board installation direction The board should be pushed as far as possible into the clip before rotating the blades. If you install the decking on joists, battens or metal frames, the decking boards should be laid perpendicular to them. Procedure The specifications and recommendations in the NEOLIFE installation guide are not a substitute for regulations concerning safety, the environment and regulatory trade specifications. 2

TO READ CAREFULLY IMPORTANT INFORMATION CONCERNING INSTALLATION Accurately Flat surface A tolerance of 2 mm in difference is to be respected between all points on the support surface. Texture effect The brushing direction produces a felt aspect on the boards, which will disappear within the first few weeks. This felt aspect causes a difference in the play of light on the boards, depending on the angle from which you look at them. We recommend that boards are laid in the same direction, to ensure similar lighting effects from one board to another. The board directions can be matched using the cavities. Recommendations for cutting For straight cuts, we recommend that you smooth off the edge with sandpaper or a plane, to create a slight bevel. Not for structural use In no event may decking boards be installed as part of a self-bearing or structural work. Trade regulations and recommendations governing the installation of decking must be respected. The load-bearing system under the decking boards must comply with DTU 51-4 regulations. Using decking boards on balconies Lay a sheet metal panel between the loadbearing supports to install decking on a balcony. Installation on feet Smaller cavities If you install the decking on raised feet, we recommend that the whole structure is fixed in place around the edge: the joists can be screwed into the feet and the feet anchored to the ground. If you cannot fix a foot to the ground, use an anti-lift profile (anti-float finishing cornice). Attaching additional elements to the ground The decking boards are not load-bearing. Any elements fixed to the ground must be fastened to the load-bearing structure under the decking. No waterproof function The boards are not designed to be leaktight. They should be used in conjunction with a waterproofing system where necessary according to DTU regulations. Procedure The specifications and recommendations in the NEOLIFE installation guide are not a substitute for regulations concerning safety, the environment and regulatory trade specifications. 3

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS Board supports Supports should be laid perpendicular to the desired direction of the boards. Their thickness depends on the laying method. The support must be compliant with DTU regulations 51-4 concerning exterior wood decking Non load-bearing profiles intended for decking on discontinuous support, pedestrian traffic only. Maximum distance between supports: 40 cm (indicative and customary uses to be validated according to requirements specific to each project and support layout). 40 Installation on battens and feet directly on ground or built-up surface 40 Installation on joists concrete slab Ensure a horizontal surface with the 2% ground slope by inserting wedges under the joists 40 Installed directly on tiles or levelled concrete slab Use adjustment wedges to ensure a level surface 40 Installation on metal structure All instructions for laying decking should be respected. Assembly errors are not covered by the NEOLIFE guarantee. An approved fitter can verify that your project is compliant with current DTU regulations. 6

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS Fastening system Always position the clips parallel to the boards Fasten the boards using two clips on each support Fasten the clips using screws suited to the support Direct laying on slab should respect the layout and the number of clips recommended for the layout for each installation method Terrace decking Blade built in to clip Slot the tabs into the clips Ensure a gap of 7 mm between ends and peripheral boards Lay the boards perpendicular to the supports Board tab Fastening screw Clip Accessories Finishing sill Decorative panel Locking clip 0.5 hook Fastening bracket 7

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS Stocking the boards To prevent the boards from becoming deformed prior to installation, NEOLIFE accessories must be stored in a ventilated location, on a flat and dry surface. decking boards and Both in the warehouse and on site, all the boards on each pallet must be fully protected: if certain boards are exposed to sunlight or rain it may cause them to develop colour differences with the non-exposed boards. As far as possible, ensure the protective film on the pallet covers all boards to protect the against rain. The boards should be stored upside down with the brushed finish side not visible. KG Do not expose to direct sunshine Do not expose to inclement weather Avoid impacts Do not bend the boards or apply heavy loads Recommendations for cutting boards It is strongly recommended that you wear PPE when cutting boards. You should always start cuts at slow speed. 8

HOW TO CUT BOARDS The approach to cutting boards is the same whether the boards are hollow or solid. Lengthways cut Lengthways cuts are free-form: either straight, angled, or curved. Crossways cut Crossways cuts are done at specific locations according to the layout diagrams below on which the possible cutting locations are indicated. 300 mm 225 mm 225 mm 150 mm 75 mm 10

HOW TO CUT FINISHING ACCESSORIES Finishing sill The solid profile of the finishing sill enables you to cut it at specific points or a free cut anywhere along the length. Its width is equivalent to the pitch of a decking board (C.f. p.3 How to cut boards) 71 mm 15 15 Possible locations for cutting with pitch of 15 mm 56 mm 41 mm Multi-function decorative panel The solid decorative panel can be cut in height, lengthways, straight, angled or curved. 8 200 mm 11

HOW TO ASSEMBLE THE FINISHING SILL Creating a insert The multi-purpose finishing sill can be cut and assembled with another sill using trunnions, adhesive or screw attachments. We therefore produce a gap between clips of between 51 mm and 143 mm. 143 mm 51 mm Assembling non-parallel boards It is possible to assemble non-parallel boards using angle cuts and using two finishing sills. 12

SUMMARY OF MAIN FEATURES Help sheet 1 Starting laying with a sill Help sheets 2 and 2.1 Starting laying with a hook Help sheets 3 and 3.1 Finishing with a sill Help sheet 5 Layout patterns Help sheet 6 Poolside Help sheet 4 Finishing with a decorative panel 13

HELP SHEET 1 - STARTING OUT WITH A SILL STEP A Position the sill against the wall leaving a gap of 7 mm. This will serve as a guide for the first series of clips that are inserted into the sill tab. Screw the clips onto the support. Position the first board in the clips, perpendicular to the joists. Gap 7 mm It is possible to cut to the width desired or to scribe the sill if necessary. STEP B Lift the board slightly and position the second set of clips, by inserting them into the tab. The board already in place serves as a marker for their insertion. Screw the second set of clips onto the load-bearing support One screw is sufficient for each clip, in the drilled hole. REPEAT STEPS A and B TO LAY THE SECOND BOARD Blade in open position STEP C Rotate the locking blades on the first and second series of clips until they are locked in place in the bottom of the groove. The upper tongue blocks the blade in the closed position. Blade in closed position 14

HELP SHEET 2 - STARTING OUT WITH A HOOK STEP A Option 1: Full board Position the hooks against the wall, leaving a gap of 7 mm. Screw the hooks onto the support. Position the first board in the hooks, perpendicular to the joists. Gap 7 mm STEP B Lift the board slightly and position the first set of clips, by inserting them into the tab. Screw the first set of clips onto the load-bearing support One screw is sufficient for each clip, in the drilled hole. LAY THE SECOND BOARD BY SLOTTING IT INTO THE FIRST SERIES OF CLIPS UNTIL LOCKED IN POSITION. REPEAT STEP B WITH THE SECOND SET OF CLIPS. Blade in closed position STEP C Rotate the locking blades on the first and second series of clips until they are locked in place in the bottom of the groove. The upper tongue blocks the blade in the closed position. Blade in closed position 15

HELP SHEET 2.1 - STARTING OUT WITH A HOOK Option 2: Board cut lengthways The steps to follow are identical to those for a full board, only the hook is different. Use the 1.6 cm size hook piece. Finishing laying with a hook When you finish laying the decking with a hook piece, the last board must be angled to insert it into the hook. Then simply lower the other edge and slot it into the hook. 16

HELP SHEET 3 - FINISHING WITH A SILL Option 1: Lay the sill parallel to the decking boards. The clip holding the last board in place is used to fix the finishing sill. CAUTION The locations subject to high stress (step edge, decking edges, etc.) can be reinforced by increasing the number of clips or fastening brackets. Full board or cut to length Fastening bracket to screw on underneath sill prior to fitting Solid sill or cut to length and reinforced with fastening bracket Decorative panel to cut to length then glue and clip into groove (or screw depending on support) The decorative panel is to be slotted into the last groove on the finishing sill. Possible groove Tip An non-slip profile can be added to the sill surface or inserted into a groove made on the sill surface. 17

HELP SHEET 3.1 - FINISHING WITH A SILL Option 2: Lay the sill perpendicular to the decking boards. Do not immobilise the board lengthways, so as not to hinder expansion. This case occurs when boards are surrounded lengthways by two finishing sills held in place by two clips. In this situation we recommend that one of the sills be held in place using a size 5 hook piece and a fastening bracket screwed under the sill beforehand. CAUTION The locations subject to high stress (step edge, decking edges, etc.) can be reinforced by gluing a sill or using a fastening bracket. Board cut lengthways fastened with clip Solid sill or cut to length fastened with hook and fastening bracket The decorative panel is to be slotted into the last groove on the finishing sill. Decorative panel to cut to length then glue and clip into groove (or screw depending on support) 18

HELP SHEET 4 - FINISHING WITH A DECORATIVE PANEL Option 1: Risers If the step edge is covered, the decorative panel should be clipped into the clip on the next step riser down, after making a slight notch in the riser for the blade. Option 2: Decorative panel only The decorative panel can be used on its own and screwed into the joists. 19

HELP SHEET 5: LAYOUT PATTERNS Distance 400 mm maximum Distance 400 mm maximum Distance 400 mm maximum Distance 400 mm maximum Board end with straight cut Board end with 45 cut Distance max. 400 mm Board end with straight junction or sunk junction Board ends: 2 joists or minimum width 60 mm and 1 clip per board Indicative and customary uses to be validated according to the requirements specific to each project and to the support layout Laying in a staggered pattern is preferable to a straight layout for long boards. 20

HELP SHEET 6: POOLSIDE Poolside perpendicular to boards Insert a 0.5 hook inside the sill. Then apply the fastening bracket before screwing the board into the edge joist on top of the liner. Poolside parallel to boards The sill is held in place by the clip and the fastening bracket. Then screw the board into the edge joist on top of the liner. 21
