PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! 1. Show dates for Artists Application deadline Saturday, February 16, 2018 Delivery of Artwork Monday, February 25 th, 2018, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm Reception and Silent Auction Friday, March 22nd, 2019, 5:00 8:00 pm Pick Up Monday, April 1 st, 2019, 10:00 1:00pm. Work not picked up by 6:00 pm will be placed in the lobby. 1. ELIGIBILITY: The Ode to RED TIDE: The STATE of Florida show is an art exhibition of expressive works that is comprised of all media and sculpture including re cycled or up cycled materials. The subject matter is directly related to marine wildlife in and around the state of Florida and the Gulf Coast area and how it is affected by the never ceasing Red Tide outbreaks as well as other oceanic challenges. This exhibit is a deliberate effort to raise awareness of these occurrences and how it affects our lives, as well as our children s future. Please note this is a family facility so no blatant violence, guns or nudity. Your art work must be original. We accept 2D and limited 3D creations. Open to all living artists within the State of Florida who are 13 years old and older. 2. SIZE REQUIREMENTS: Large works, up to 50 inches in any direction are ideal. We have limited pedestals for 3 dimensional works. Very heavy pieces may require special handling. Small works are fine as long as they are framed properly. See attached framing guidelines. If you have specific questions or need to display unusual pieces, please email questions to curator@carrollwoodcenter.org. 3. Pricing: In an effort to raise funds for recovery, data and disposal of animal carcasses due to Red Tide and other oceanic occurrences, we ve increased our entry fee specifically for this show. The additional funds will be donated directly to Florida Aquarium so that they can take on the oceans toughest challenges. Total of 5 pieces per artist may be submitted: The first piece is $25.00, two entries are $45.00, three entries are $60 and five entries are $85.00. Make checks payable to Carrollwood Cultural Center. There are a limited number of entries, so please send in your application early! 4. Every piece of art work entered in the show is required to have the artist s name, title, medium and contact information, affixed to the back or bottom. Please attend to this BEFORE you deliver your work! If art work is delivered without proper name/title, etc. the art work will not be hung until it is labeled. It is important that this is taken care of, as once the pieces are hung it s the only way to know for sure which piece is which, know what the label is and prepare the judges sheet. Otherwise there will be no information on the label and the artist will not be contacted for a sale, if they won an award, etc. 5. Carrollwood Cultural Center is not liable for artwork submitted for exhibition. All artists will be required to sign an indemnity form before the work is hung. The Indemnity form is attached to this document and may be filled in and mailed with your entry, scanned and e mailed, or brought with you when you deliver your work. Extra copies will be available on delivery. 6. Art works not picked up on the final date will be auctioned off or donated to charity. We cannot store artworks safely. Please make arrangements to have your work picked up if you can t do it yourself. Please do not drop off or pick up your work early. 7. Art works are to hang until the end of the show, unless arrangements are made with the Curator for replacement. Do not remove any artworks before the date and time for pickup. Call the Art Curator if you need assistance with this. 8. Sales of any artworks are handled directly between the artist and buyer. The artist is asked to make a donation to Carrollwood Cultural Center when a sale is made. You may submit work that is NFS (not for sale) or POR (price on request), just note this on your application where you would put the price. 9. We are a public venue and are required to follow the guidelines of most public places; no nudes, controversial work that could be considered offensive, political or represent overt violent. Remember our venue is filled with children all the time! 10. Send your application and indemnity agreement by mail and/or e mail to Michele Stone, Carrollwood Cultural Center, 4537 Lowell Road, Tampa, Florida 33618, or by e mail to curator@carrollwoodcenter.org. Remember to get your entries in early! 11. Please read the Hanging Requirements very carefully. You MUST provide hanging hardware on the back of your frame. Do not put your work in plastic frames, easel back frames, or frames that are not meant to be hung. Such artwork will be rejected for these reasons.

APPLICATION Ode to Red Tide: the STATE of Florida March 2019 Artist Name Age for under 18 Address City State Zip Telephone email Entry 1 PLEASE EITHER TYPE OR PRINT YOUR INFORMATION LEGIBLY! Entry 2 Entry 3 Entry 4 Entry 5 Fill out this form, scan it, and send it by e mail to curator@carrollwoodcenter.org or send by Postal Mail to Michele Stone, Carrollwood Cultural Center, 4537 Lowell Road, Tampa, FL 33618

HANGING GUIDELINES 1. Your work will hang from stainless steel cables fitted with an adjustable hook that attaches to your artwork s wire. 2. THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT! We cannot use saw tooth hangers, easel back frames, plastic sleeve frames, or frames that are not fitted with hardware for a hanging wire. If you are confused ask a framer or store that sells frames. Of course you all know this! We MUST have a wire on the back of your entries and this wire MUST be attached to the frame at about 3 inches below the top of the frame, otherwise the stainless hook will show above the top of the frame. Frames from craft stores are fine, but you must fit them with screw eyes and a wire, and measure down from the top of the frame about 3 inches. We will REJECT your work if we can t hang it! You can salvage your work at the last minute by providing a proper hanging wire, but please do not expect us to do it for you. People will be checking your artwork on delivery day for the wire, and if it is not there you will be asked to go get one and mount it properly. If you cannot get your work back to us on the delivery day, you will not be in the show. Please attend to these details work before you arrive at Carrollwood Cultural Center on delivery day. 3. PLEASE check your mattes and glazing and insure that they are clean. Our lighting system shows up dirty fingerprints, scratches on plastic and grime on mattes that you may normally overlook! Check frames for dings, scratches and nicks.cover them appropriately. 4. Gallery wrapped canvases must be finished on the sides with paint or tape. You must cover stapled canvases with tape. 5. YOU MUST attach a card to the back of your work that states your NAME, TITLE of your artwork, MEDIUM and CONTACT INFORMATION. Preferably on the lower left or right side of your work. We will be checking for this and if you do not have it on delivery day you will be asked to make one before you can enter your work. Please write or type this on white paper so we can read it. Thanks in advance. NO! This wire could have been tighter so the hook could be a little lower, but it is alright as is because the hook is below the frame Place a card with your name and title of the artwork here (LEFT ABOVE) This Frame is not going to work! The wire is so close to the top of the frame the hook will show above the top of the frame. Also, those flimsy triangle fasteners often pull out and your artwork ends up on the floor which makes our Curator very unhappy. (RIGHT ABOVE) This is a perfect frame for hanging in our Galleries. Note that the wire is situated in such a way that the hook is below the top edge of the frame. The back is neat and the hardware is appropriate for use with wires.
