Trends for Innovation These fields of action shape the content of our strategy until 2022 Digital Platforms Digital Twin Product Services Artificial Intelligence Future topics as an integral part of the new it's OWL program Autonomy 10

Expansion of Technology Leadership Intelligent technical systems 2022 - the existing technology base needs to be developed progressively Autonomous Systems Dynamically Networked Systems Tackle complex tasks within a certain application domain autonomously Need to operate in a targeted manner without remote operation or human assistance. Complex systems whose functionality and performance exceeds the sum of the individual systems ITS 2022 Hybrid service bundles, which are based on the close link between goods and services Needs-oriented solutions through services based on the collection, processing and evaluation of data Interaktive Product sozio-technische Service Systems Systeme System-of-Systems where individual systems operate independently Adapt flexibly to the user s needs and offer context-based support Offer multimodal interaction possibilities and are able to explain themselves Interactive Socio-Technical Systems 11

Work 4.0: Scenarios of the Digital Workplace Example: Digital maintenance manual in the field of view using AR! Faster response times for maintenance Reduction of travel expenses Real-time system data available Shorten downtimes Familiarization and learning new operating concepts (computer affinity) Automated monitoring of work performance Immediate action of worker expected 5 pilots Assisted reality for the worker Order-specific digital maintenance help 16

Leading-Edge Cluster it s OWL - Regional Development Effects and Development Digital model region OWL it s OWL pays into the strategy of regional development 17

it s OWL and Industry 4.0 Pioneering on the way to digitization Extract from our strategy of 2011 The strategic thrust for the cluster s development implies an innovative leap from mechatronics towards Intelligent Technical Systems (ITS). ITS are software-intensive engineering products and production systems which are able to adapt to changing usage and operating conditions. Such systems function autonomously, partially with the help of cognition. Buzz words in this context are Things That Think, Cyber-Physical Systems and Industry 4.0 *. Pioneers How we started off We spoke of Industry 4.0 before anyone else did. Footnote *The fourth industrial revolution refers to the integration of intelligent monitoring and control processes into industrial production in addition to their progressing automation. Vision is the integral, real-time control and optimization of whole value-adding networks. 18

it s OWL and Industry 4.0 Pioneering work on the way to digitization Innovation region for digitization Our vision for the years to come Top converter Where we stand today Pioneers How we started off We spoke of Industry 4.0 before anyone else did. Cluster partners deliver innovative Industry 4.0 solutions We want to emerge from digitization as a winner; this means: Technology leadership as a means to an end Transformation of technology leadership into added value and employment 19
