Simtools - Installation Go to X-simulator.net and download the last version of SimTools : http://www.xsimulator.net/simtools-motion-simulator-software/ or http://www.xsimulator.net/community/marketplace/motion-simulation-software-simtools.63/ Create an account login or Sign up Then install SimTool
Game Engine Connect the 2 USB cable to your PC. Normally, windows must download and install automatically the right driver. (if not go to http://www.prosimu.fr/docs/cdm20802_setup.exe then click right on CDM20802_Setup.exe and run as administrator, redo the operation : click right on CDM20802_Setup.exe and run as administrator) Launch the game engine and game manager of Simtool and see the icon near the time, click on the arrow and click on customize the icon notification. We recommend you to customize the icon notification of SimTools game manager and game engine in order to show the icon and all the notifications
Inside Game Engine Go to Settings-> Interface 1 and fill the 8 point Speed to 10000 and Acceleration to 500. For Interface 1 select COM3. For Interface 2 select COM4. Interface 3 select COM5 Interface 4 select COM6 Interface 5 select COM7 Notice: if you have COM10 or superior, you must change the COM port (see the end of this document) For Interface 1 select Axis 1. For Interface 2 select Axis 2. For interface 3 select Axis 3 For Interface 4 select Axis 4 For Interface 5 select Axis 5 Click on Save for Interface 1 and Save for Interface 2. Save (green button) then quit Game Engine and game manager (see under)
Launch the game engine and normally if all is right the 5 actuators should move. If the actuators don t move, see if you have powered the actuators, the 5 small box in grey colour (aluminium) must have green led. Do you put the power supply? Remove power cable, wait 10 seconds and put another time power cable. Verify that you have correctly filled the Interface 1 and interface 2. Restart the game engine and the 5 actuators must move, if not, contact us.
Take a paper and pen Go to Output testing -> axis testing then click on Turn On and select Axis Output (under Output Type). Move slowly the Axis 1 and verify that your right front actuators move, if it s the wrong actuator, you must write on your paper the actuator (interface) that move. Instead. Move slowly the Axis 2 and verify that your left front actuators move, if it s the wrong actuator, you must write on your paper the actuator (interface) that move. Instead. Move slowly the Axis 3 and verify that your rear right actuators move, if it s the wrong actuator, you must write on your paper the actuator (interface) that move. Instead. Move slowly the Axis 4 and verify that your rear left actuators move, if it s the wrong actuator, you must write on your paper the actuator (interface) that move. Instead. Move slowly the Axis 5 and verify that your 5 actuators move, if it s the wrong actuator, you must write on your paper the actuator (interface) that move. Instead.
1-Click turn Off. 2-Go to Interface settings and change/put the good Assigned Axis for each interface 1,2,3,4,5. Use your paper notes for this. 3- Verify that you have only once Axis 1, Axis 2, Axis 3, Axis4, Axis 5 for each interface settings 4- Press save for each Interface settings
Go a second time to Output testing -> axis testing then click on Turn On and select Axis Output (under Output Type). Move slowly the Axis 1 and verify that your right front actuators move, if it s the wrong actuator, you must write on your paper the actuator that move. Instead. Move slowly the Axis 2 and verify that your left front actuators move, if it s the wrong actuator, you must write on your paper the actuator that move. Instead. Move slowly the Axis 3 and verify that your rear right actuators move, if it s the wrong actuator, you must write on your paper the actuator that move. Instead. Move slowly the Axis 4 and verify that your rear left actuators move, if it s the wrong actuator, you must write on your paper the actuator that move. Instead. Move slowly the Axis 5 and verify that your 5 actuators move, if it s the wrong actuator, you must write on your paper the actuator that move. Instead. This settings is very important in order to have a good simulation experience with the profile below
Re-launch game manager and game engine, the 5 actuators must move. Go to axis assignment -> axis limiting and put axis 1 & 2 & 3 &4 & 5 to 90%. it s the software limitation of the actuators then save settings
Go to axis assignement -> axis Assignement and fill the default profil (Under Game List) for DOF1 to DOF5 : it s the force repartition between the 5 actuators. And save settings
Heave, surge et sway : it s force for the vehicle movement. Heave : when the car jump under bump Surge : acceleration and braking Sway : right and left turn. Roll, Pitch, et Yaw : it s force for the tilt of the road Pitch : when the road ascend and descend Roll : when the road lean to the right /left Yaw : when the road turn Extra1 : use for the traction loss only with 3 and 5 actuators. If you have 3 actuators, filled like this : The Default profil is very important, each time you will add a new games, the default profil will be used and copy to your new games profile. Do a save settings when you have finished. You could modify the Default profil or the profil of you game (under Game list), remember that you must Save at the end. When you will play with your New game (later in the documentation), you must verify the different point (stop the game and change value if necessary) : If you feel that the force: - Acceleration braking (Surge) are inversed : just color (or uncolored) the 2 orange square (Axis1 &2) - Right and left turn (Sway) are inversed : just color (or uncolored) the axis 1 and uncolored (or colored) the axis 2 : the 2 axis must be opposed in orange colored. - road ascend and you feel descend (pitch) : just uncolored (or colored) the 2 axis -road tilt to the right and you feel left (Roll) : just color (or uncolored) the axis 1 and uncolored (or colored) the axis 2 : the 2 axis must be opposed in orange colored.
Remember to Save Settings with the good games! Add a new game Close Game Manager and Game Engine Download the plugin of your game on X-Simulator.net http://www.xsimulator.net/simtools-motion-simulator-software/#plugins or http://www.xsimulator.net/community/marketplace/categories/downloads.1/ Launch SimToolsPluginUpdater (start->all Programs->Simtools-> SimToolsPluginUpdater or C:\Program Files (x86)\simtools)
Drag and drop the plugin (with zip) inside the GamePluginUpdater. Close GamePluginUpdater. Launch the game engine and notice that your default profil has been copied inside the Rfactor profil (under Axis assignements-> Axis assignements -> Game List)
Launch the Game manager, select your game (here Rfactor) click on Patching then Edit path Notice : For patching some games, you need to launch the Game manager in administrator mode : just click right to the game manager icon and select Run as administrator )
For codemasters games ( DIRT, GRID F12010,11,12,13,14... ) you have to patch the My Documents / my games / Your codemasters games. For other games ( not Codemaster ), go generally in the installation directory of the game or steam directory installation games. The game under steam are here : C:\Program Files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\ your game or here your drive :\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common
Click on Patch Game
If you want to install a new plugin for the same game, you must remove the old plugin before doing this.
Game Manager Go to game manager - > profile editor The main level is very important: during the game, you could tune the feeling of the 2 actuators! Do a pause of your game and change to 95 90 or 85%, you will notice a big change between these 3 values. The actuators will react with more or less smooth movement.
You could change (during the game do a pause) the force of the vehicle and effect of the road. When you increase the forces: the actuators rod end will have a bigger movement (more amplitude). Heave, surge et sway : it s force for the vehicle movement. Heave : when the car jump under bump Surge : acceleration and braking Sway : right and left turn. Roll, Pitch, et Yaw : it s force for the tilt of the road Pitch : when the road ascend and descend Roll : when the road lean to the right /left Yaw : when the road If you want to feel more forces of the vehicle -> increase the Heave, surge, sway and reduce the pitch roll yaw. Tune a force one by one and do test inside the game. If you want to feel the effect of the road -> do the opposite above. If you want to feel more of all forces : increase all the forces.
You could save several profil with profil editor, just copy and name a new profil, then you could create new profil. It s auto-save.
For each new game : the telemetry is not very accurate, you need to use the Tuning center : it will recalibrate the telemetry min, max and send good telemetry to the actuators. (right click on GameEngine) Click on capture MinMax, then reset, then drive your car as fast as possible during 1 lap without any crashes and with acceleration, braking, turn to the left, right..
When you have finished : click on Save Settings then Stop capture. After this, reload your track and drive your car, the feeling must be very accurate. Tips When game manager is alone Not Connected in red
When Game manager and game engine are launching Connected in green When the telemetry data of the game are well detected Game running in blue
COM port changing Go to Start> Configuration Panel> Système> Device manager->com LPT
Change the number of the COM port to 3 and 4 and save then restart the PC.
