SINGLE LOCKER PEDESTAL INSTALLATION LK-PED-INST-0314r1 3
SINGLE LOCKER PEDESTAL INSTALLATION Refer to illustrations on previous page and locker layout shop drawings. 1. Slide chrome flange over the pedestal legs. The legs of the flange should be positioned so they are parallel to the back wall. 2. Locate position of the pedestals as per locker layout shop drawings. The first pedestal is 2 from the wall. Pedestals will normally be spaced from 36 to 60 apart. DO NOT FASTEN TO FLOOR. 3. Lay the horizontal tubing on the pedestals. The back tube is located 1 from the back edge of the pedestal; the front tube is located 1/2 in from the face of the locker. Clamp tubes to pedestals. 4. Drill hole in top of tube 1/8 larger than head size of screw. Drill 1/8 hole through the tube and top of pedestal. Use 3/4 self-tapping screws to secure the tube to the pedestal. 5. If the locker run (bank) is more than 10 feet, centre the pedestal at the joint of the tubes. Secure tubes to the pedestal in the same manner as step #4. 6. Set pedestal bank assembly in place. Mark hole locations on floor at each chrome flange. Move pedestal bank assembly out of the way so that 1/4 holes can be drilled in the floor and blue plastic anchors inserted. 7. Move the pedestal bank assembly back into position and secure chrome flanges to the floor with 1-1/2 screws. 8. Remove the set screw from the chrome flange. Level the pedestal bank assembly and secure pedestal to flange with #8 x 3/4 self-tapping screws. 9. Once all pedestal bank assemblies are secured, install lockers in usual manner. Secure lockers to wall and also to pedestal bank assembly. Drill hole in bottom of locker (shelf) just behind locker frame with 1/8 drill bit through the bottom of the locker frame and into the top of the tube. Secure with #8 x 2 1/2 pan head sheet metal screw. This will prevent locker movement. 10. After lockers are secured, attach bench material to pedestal extension. 11. Insert plastic end caps into open pedestal and tube ends (we recommend the use of silicone to prevent end caps from being removed). LK-PED-INST-0314r1 4
BACK TO BACK LOCKER PEDESTAL INSTALLATION LK-PED-INST-0314r1 5
BACK TO BACK LOCKER PEDESTAL INSTALLATION Refer to illustrations on previous page and locker layout shop drawings. 1. Slide chrome flange over the pedestal legs. The legs of the flange should be positioned so they are parallel to the back wall. 2. Locate position of the pedestals as per locker layout shop drawings. The first pedestal is 2 from the wall (or end of horizontal tube). Pedestals will normally be spaced from 36 to 60 apart. DO NOT FASTEN TO FLOOR. 3. Lay the horizontal tubing on the pedestals. The outside tubes are located by subtracting 1/2 from the locker depth, marking that resulting dimension from the centre of the back to back pedestal. Clamp tubes to pedestals. 4. Drill hole in top of tube 1/8 larger than head size of screw. Drill 1/8 hole through the tube and top of pedestal. Use 3/4 self-tapping screws to secure the tube to the pedestal. 5. Once the back to back pedestal assembly has been built with the outside tubes installed, add the centre tubes, located on each side of the centreline of the back to back pedestals. Secure the centre tubes as per step #4. 6. If the locker run (bank) is more than 10 feet, centre the pedestal at the joint of the tubes. Secure tubes to the pedestal in the same manner as step #4. 7. Set pedestal bank assembly in place. Mark hole locations on floor at each chrome flange. Move pedestal bank assembly out of the way so that 1/4 holes can be drilled in the floor and blue plastic anchors inserted. 8. Move the pedestal bank assembly back into position and secure chrome flanges to the floor with 1-1/2 screws. 9. Remove the set screw from the chrome flange. Level the pedestal bank assembly and secure pedestal to flange with #8 x 3/4 self-tapping screws. 10. Once all pedestal bank assemblies are leveled and secured, install lockers starting in the middle of the bank, working toward the ends of the bank. Secure first lockers back to back with large pop rivets supplied through existing holes in the backs of lockers. Once secured to each other, make sure they are centred on the tubes and secure to tubes by drilling hole in bottom of locker (shelf) just behind locker frame with 1/8 drill bit through the bottom of the locker frame and into the top of the tube. Secure with #8 x 2 1/2 pan head sheet metal screw. This will prevent locker movement. 11. After lockers are secured, attach bench material to pedestal extension. 12. Insert plastic end caps into open pedestal and tube ends (we recommend the use of silicone to prevent end caps from being removed). LK-PED-INST-0314r1 6
WOOD BENCH SEAT 1. Measure length of bench to be installed and cut wood seat (if required) so they are flush with the end of the locker bank. File or sand any cut edges to a radiused shape. 2. The outer wood seat is to be flush with the locker pedestal tube extensions. 1/2 space is required between the two wood seats. 3. Mark locations of locker pedestals tube extensions onto wood seats. Drill two 5/16 holes in tops of wood seat in each piece. 4. Re-set wood seats on locker pedestal. Clamp in place. 5. With centre punch, mark hole location onto locker pedestal through the pre-drilled holes. 6. Remove the wood seats. Using a 5/16 high speed drill bit, drill holes in the locations marked in the locker pedestals. 7. Re-set the wood seats and attach to the locker pedestals with 1/4 x 4 carriage bolts through the wood seat. Tighten with washer and hex nut. 8. Repeat for all locker banks. For corner installations, mitre the wood seats at 45 degrees. Secure the wood seats by predrilling countersunk holes in the edge and screw the two pieces together with #8 x 2 flat head wood screws (not provided). LK-PED-INST-0314r1 7
