SMMA Cheat Sheet Tips and Tricks to Look for and Ask Yourself when Filling Out a Social Media Audit made with
Things You NEED to Look For When Filling out a Social Media Audit Why Listen to Me on This Topic? I started off my Social Media Agency, LVLs Digital Media, without any idea of how to put together Social Media Audits. I didn't know how to captivate a business owner's attention and convince them to pay attention to the services I was selling. I struggled for months until I figured out the right things to look for when filling out audits and how to actually set up the Audit Package for a much higher response rate from business owners. Figuring out the right things to look for and more importantly how to put together a quality audit led me to a breakthrough in getting paying clients. Let's go through some of the things you should be looking for during your Social Media Audits.
Overall Branding: What's the first impression you see? Do they have a visually pleasing brand image? Is their brand consistent across different social media channels? Popularity: How many followers/likes does the business page have? Frequency: How often are they posting? Are there big gaps between posts? Any activity on weekends? Engagement: What's the # of people actually commenting and liking posts compared to the number of followers? Are people actually engaging with the content? Types of posts: What topics do they frequently discuss? Are they switching up the types of posts? For example, photos, questions, videos, asking for their fans to post their own content? Facebook Do they have a good cover photo? (not too busy, clean design, clear branding) Do they have a complete About Section with a link to their website or a page to order their product? How often are they posting? Are they posting helpful content that people want? Golden nugget funny content goes a long way! Do they have Spam or unanswered posts/reviews? Variety of content images, questions, videos, user generated content? Are they running Facebook ads? Are people talking/commenting on their page? Are they responding and on top of their FB reviews? Instagram Do they have a consistent branded logo/profile picture? Is their website or page where people can buy from them listed in the Bio section? Are they using relevant hashtags (local ones too)? Are they posting valuable/entertaining content? Are they talking/responding to people who post? Are people responding back?
Google Have they claimed their Google for Business listing? Is the cover art branding consistent with their other channels? Is Google Maps Set up to point to their business? Are they listed appropriately? (open hours, description, keywords, etc.) Are they on top of their reviews and responding to feedback? YouTube Do they have a visually pleasing cover photo? Is their website listed? Do they have a Video trailer describing their channel/brand? Are they posting consistently? Are they using Keywords in their profile and their videos? Do they have Playlists? Have they connected their other social accounts in their bio?
Putting your Audit Package Together You need to make sure your audit is visually appealing, looks professional and provides value to your potential client. Don't put out a half-baked audit and expect to get a paying client in return! Believe it or not, your audits are a reflection of your Agency's work. Put in the effort to make them valuable!
Your Pricing & Services Think about all the services you want to offer and have an idea in your head about how much you charge for each service. Your services should be custom tailored to your client based on what you think their business could benefit from.
Time to Get Clients Making Sure you are Memorable This is where we put it all together. Your presentation here is important because no matter how good the tips in your audit are, none of it matters if your potential client throws the audit in the trash without even looking. If you REALLY want to convince someone to do business with you, you usually only have one chance to nail it. First impressions are important. Your entire Social Media Audit Package is the first impression. So let's walk through different parts of an audit package that will help you make a lasting impression and skyrocket your chances of closing deals with clients. Components of a High Quality Audit Package 1) Cover Letter - Introduces who you are and why your client should work with you 2) Business Card - Making sure they have your contact info to get in touch. 3) Audit Summary - Professional and attention-grabbing summary of your audit findings. 4) Detailed Audit - Analysis of their Social Media channels with tips/recommendations. This helps build your expertise/authority. 5) Pricing/Services Sheet - Clearly introducing the services you offer. I recommend leaving out prices here to give you wiggle room in how much you can charge.
