Final Declaration G7 Transport Cagliari 22/06/2017 We, the G7 Ministers of Transport and the European Commissioner for Transport, reaffirm our commitment to fostering investment in high-quality infrastructure as a key strategy to reignite and sustain economic growth. We recognize that investment in infrastructure can shape mobility patterns, can contribute to innovation, automation, productivity improvement and digital solutions for mobility, and can trigger economic, environmental and social benefits. We reaffirm our commitment to seek, to identify and remove potential barriers in existing regulations to the introduction of automated and connected driving technologies, as appropriate, at the domestic and international levels. The market potential of cooperative, connected and automated driving could lead to the creation of new jobs profiles. The profiles will require higher skills and digital literacy. Therefore, we recognize that we need to help ease this transition to strengthen public acceptance and fully realize the benefits that these technologies offer and we intend to carefully assess the needs for new skills and, where needed, to promote training schemes and appropriate awareness campaigns. 3

Goals for RPAS management To include unmanned flying units in non segregated areas as part of commercial aeronautical traffic To use EGNOS integrity to be able to guarantee unmanned vehicles homogeneous management by means of GPS data integration with EDAS information (Navigation Gateway) To be able to guarantee availability increase and service continuity is an EVOLUTION of navigation services for RPAS applications. EGNOS V3 evolution, which foresees Galileo inclusion, guarantees larger continuity and availability but also larger resilience and strength of overall system, due to multi frequency introduction, which makes more difficult to implement signal disturbance actions. Authentication mechanism which guarantees RPAS full identifiability shall be foreseen (also through cryptographic mechanisms) to be able to add fundamental security aspects in UAV management during all operational phases, and if necessary to use navigation data to legal purpose too. Further integration with 5G guarantees the possibility to use it also in urban environment (when GNSS signal is shielded). 10
