Seal with DecoArt multipurpose sealer. Basecoat the board (except for the border) in Bahama Blue and let dry. Trace the pattern onto the board using the White graphite paper and a stylus. Basecoat as follows using a flat shader or round brush to best fit the size of area you are painting: Letters Santa Red Snowman head Warm White Nose Pumpkin Hat Foilage Green Hat brim Terra Coral Letters Use the polka dot stencil and Terra Coral to stencil small dots on all the letters. I used my own stencil that I ve had for a while, but you can either purchase your own, or make one using a hole punch and some sturdy cardstock paper. The one that Artists Club carries has two sizes of dots, and either would work beautifully. Remember when stenciling to use a dry brush and very little paint so that you don t bleed through the bottom of the stencil. I always rub some of the paint off of my brush by scrubbing it into a paper towel before I begin stenciling. You can always add more layers if you need to, by repeating the same process. When you are done, you may need to go around your letters with some Bahama Blue to touch up any polka dots that have strayed outside the lines. Use a dry highlighter brush and a touch of Fiery Red to add highlights down the centers of all the letters. A very small amount goes a long way. Start out light, and add more paint if you feel it needs to be brighter, but be careful not to cover too much of your polka dots. Mine is very subtle, but you can add more to your liking. Snowman Face Using a 1:1 ratio mix of Slate Grey and Warm White, shade around edges the snowman s face. Use a mop brush to soften. Use a dry highlighter brush and a bit of Terra Coral to make the cheek. The eyes and mouth are based in Lamp Black. I made these irregular to look like coal. Use your stylus and Warm White to add a small dot to the left side of each piece of coal. Highlight the top of the nose with a bit of Moon Yellow. 2 artistsclub.com

Hat Shade all around the hat with Leaf Green and use a mop brush to soften. The center is highlighted with a 1:1 mix of Foilage Green and Moon Yellow. Hat Brim and Pom-Pom Paint the stripes with Santa Red, and then float shade around the entire brim with Santa Red. Drybrush a highlight across the center with Fiery Red. The pom-pom is made by pouncing layers of paint using a small old scruffy brush or a Deerfoot brush. I did not rinse my brush in between each color. This is very light and airy, so after dipping your dry brush in paint, pounce your brush on a paper towel first to remove some of the paint. First pounce Santa Red, then Terra Coral, then Warm White, followed by a bit more Santa Red on top. 4 artistsclub.com
Snowflakes Use a liner brush and thinned Warm White to paint the various snowflakes on each end of the letters, on hat, and scattered around as you choose. Use your stylus to place a dot on all the snowflake tips, and the center of each, using Warm White. Use an old toothbrush or fan brush to spatter Warm White all over the board to look like snow. artistsclub.com 5
