Train-to-ground communication Whether to increase safety, optimise availability or improve telephone or Internet communications for passengers, HUBER+SUHNER offers a wide spectrum of perfectly-coordinated components, ranging from robust antennas, flexible jumper cables and low-loss feeder cables to signal splitting by means of multiplexers. Standards Roof-top antennas for trains are exposed to harsh environmental conditions. Mobile communications (LTE, UMTS, GSM) Mobile communications anytime and everywhere belong to our daily life and are indispensable for a comfortable train journey. It is becoming increasingly important for network operators to be able to reliably link their train systems to existing mobile communication networks and to connect the rolling stock equipment to their IT infrastructure. Train security and radio systems (GSM-R, TETRA) In addition to train control via GSM-R there is increasig demand for security of passengers and operational staff. This is accomplished by integration of Tetra. Wireless backhaul (WiFi, WiMAX) WiFi is not just an interesting alternative to GSM-R in the underground and metropolitan railway sector, but is also frequently used for high-speed data transfer between the train and track. SENCITY Rail Excel bidirectional antennas permit larger distances between the track base stations in the WiFi 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz and WiMAX / LTE band range. Satellite navigation Satellite positioning of trains using GPS is commonly used. For this reason SENCITY Rail antennas are available with a GPS antenna with integrated low-noise amplifier. Low profile SENCITY Rail 790 2700 MHz Thanks to its slim design with a minimised installation height of 4 cm, this mobile communications antenna is ideally suited to double-decker trains and tight loading gauges. Despite the compact design, it covers the 2.4 GHz WiFi range as well as the most common mobile communications frequencies. Depending on the application, SENCITY Rail is available with or without a GPS antenna. This is the perfect solution when space is at a premium. High performance SENCITY Rail 380 5935 MHz This is the ideal antenna for use with a wide variety of bandwidths. As well as common mobile communication frequencies, it also covers the TETRA range from 380 to 470 MHz and DVB-T from 470 to 860 MHz. Cable assemblies for railway applications The jumper-feeder-jumper principle The ideal connection between the antenna and the active component involves our halogen-free, RoHS compliant cables, which meet DIN 5510-2 and pren 45545-2 fire safety standards. The jumper feeder jumper cable combination makes optimum use of the specific flexibility and attenuation properties of both types of cable. Advanced installation options Installation on metallic roof Installation takes place directly on the metal roof of the train. This ensures perfect sealing and grounding (high voltage protection) and is provided by means of the base plate on the roof of the train. Installation on plastic roofs The antennas can be installed directly onto non-metallic train roofs so that a perfect seal is assured. Grounding is provided through a copper bus bar attached to the base plate of antenna by means of the SENCITY Rail grounding kit (Product type 9091.99.0235).
