Capture One 4.6 release notes Introduction Newly architected Capture One 4 allows photographers to enhance and develop RAW digital files with excellent color and detail reproduction. Providing best possible image quality is a cornerstone in Capture One. Tools for this and excellent out-of-the-box results are part of the new Capture One 4. Capture One 4 is designed with an easy workflow in mind, and the simplified new user interface leaves more of the screen area to your images. Highlighted new features This new release of Capture One comes in three versions: 4.6, 4.6 PRO and 4.6 DB. Capture One 4.6 is a free service release to existing Capture One 4.x owners. Existing customers with Capture One 3.x can upgrade to a similar version of Capture One 4.6 at no extra cost. Some of the highlighted new features in Capture One 4.6 are: - Improved performance: o Notably in: Processing, Browsing, Folder viewing and Color Editor - Edit Primary Only option: o With Capture One 4.6 we will abandon the Shift modifier key for operating on multiple selected images/variants. With Capture One 4.6 we will introduce an option Edit Primary Only, which can be toggled on or off. When this option is off, changes made will affect all selected variants, otherwise it will only affect the primary variant. You can toggle the Edit Primary Only mode in the menu (Edit), the toolbar (icon) and via a new keyboard shortcut - Camera Controls tool: o For tethered shooting, this tool allows the users to remote control essential camera settings such as program, shutter, aperture and EV adjustment directly from the application. - Load/save workspaces (PRO/DB, Mac only): o It is now possible to save and load workspaces in the application - Nikon tethered capture for the following cameras (PRO): o Nikon D3, Nikon D700, Nikon D300, Nikon D200, Nikon D80, Nikon D60, Nikon D40x, Nikon D40 - New cameras supported (4/PRO): o Phase One P 65+ o Canon G10 o Nikon D3X o Olympus E-30 - Improved camera support (4/PRO): o Canon EOS 5D Mark II and EOS 50D: sraw1 and sraw2 supported - Rating in Phase One back reflected in Capture One - Software update o A software update feature is introduced, so Capture One will in the future notify users if a newer version of Capture One is available. This feature requires an internet connection Phase One December 2008 Page 1 of 7

Known issues Below you will find a list of known issues for Capture One 4.6 at the time of shipping. General: - (PRO/DB) The new Camera Controls tool is currently only available for some combinations of digital backs and cameras - (PRO) Setting the white balance on a connected camera from the Camera tool is supported for Phase One Digital Backs. It is not available for Canon DSLR cameras. - The User Guide describes features that might only exist on the Mac platform currently. - It is not possible to view tiff or jpeg files in CMYK - (PRO/DB) Sessions are not cross platform compatible. - (PRO/DB) When applying distortion corrections to images, it is recommended to increase image sharpening. - (PRO) For EOS-1D Mark II, EOS-1Ds Mark II, EOS-1D Mark II N: These cameras only support remote capture via the FireWire port. Clear any messages on the LCD panel of the camera before connecting the camera, otherwise capturing will be disabled. - (PRO) For EOS 5D, EOS 20D, EOS 350D/Rebel XT: Set the camera s communication setting to PC connection or Normal to enable remote capture. Do not use the Print/PTP or PTP setting. - Browsing folders containing unsupported image files may affect application performance - Working with images previously visited with Capture One 4.x will be slow the first time you visit these folders with version 4.6 - The new feature of transferring rating from a digital back to Capture One is currently only available for P 65+ Mac: - (PRO/DB) When you have disconnected a camera do not reconnect a camera until the Camera tool status changes to "No Camera Attached". - (PRO/DB) Do not open the shutter on the camera prior to opening the Live Preview window. Doing so will generate errors on the digital back after closing the Live Preview window. The recommended procedure for using Live Preview is to first open the Live Preview window, then open the shutter on the camera, use Live Preview as desired, when done close the shutter on the camera, and close the Live Preview window. - (PRO/DB) Live Preview on the P20, P25, P20+ and P25+: The focus view displays a different area than that selected by the user in the composition view. - It is only possible to show the Capture One toolbar in Icon Only mode. Windows: - (PRO/DB) Library tool cannot be closed or moved from the default tab. - (PRO) Windows drivers are required for some older models of Canon DSLR cameras to be able to shoot tethered. These drivers are available from Canon s web site. - (PRO) Connecting some Canon cameras to the computer after launching Capture One might result in tethered capture being unavailable. If you experience this, connect the camera to the computer prior to launching Capture One. - (PRO/DB) Live Preview for Phase One P+ digital backs is not supported.
