OVERVIEW OF THE ONLINE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT The PebblePad online learning environment is split into two distinct areas: ATLAS (Active Teaching Learning and Assessment Space) This is your online classroom and is the area in which you will find all of the resources for your online learning programme. Pebble+ This is your personal learning space which provides a completely private space for you to create and organise resources which can be used to support your learning and career development. Nobody else will be able to see the work that you store here unless you choose to share it with them. The combination of these 2 areas provide a powerful learning environment, allowing you a private online space in which to work, make mistakes and develop; alongside a formal online classroom space to which you can submit your work and receive feedback from dedicated online tutors whose role is to support you through your online learning experience. the ASA E-Learning 2013. Here you can create blogs, forum posts, plans and experiences that are private to you. You will be able to see all of the work you will be expected to complete here in your personal learning space but until you submit your work, your tutor will not be able to see it. If you are enrolled on a course you will have resources available to you in your Resource Centre. Let s have a look at this now. YOUR RESOURCE CENTRE 7. There are several ways to access the Resource Centre. We will use the icons at the top of the PebblePad window: Resource 8. Click on the Resource Centre icon at the top of the PebblePad window. 9. If you have been enrolled on a course you will be presented with a list of resources you will be expected to complete in the For Me tab: EDITING A RESOURCE 10. This means you will be expected to produce a file that can be saved with the workbook so your tutor can mark it. a. After you have created the file click on the rosette icon: b. Click on Browse for evidence. c. Find the file in your asset store or if you haven t uploaded the file yet click on Upload. the ASA E-Learning 2013. All rights reserved. P a g e 9
If you need to upload your file you ll have to add a name for the file, a description (this is optional) and browse to the file in your user area by clicking on Browse. You ll need to click on Save & Upload to put the file in your asset store. d. Select the file in your asset store and click on Confirm. e. You will see that a number is now shown next to the rosette indicating that you have uploaded 1 piece of work for that activity. 12. 14. You should still have your Resource Centre open but if not don t worry you can open your Asset Store by either: or Clicking on the Assets tab from the window that s already open. Clicking on the Asset Store icon from the top of the PebblePad window. 15. You will see there is a file with the same name as the one you have just edited in the window. What has happened is: when you edit a resource and save it, you save the resource as your own personal asset therefore it now sits in the Asset Store in your By Me tab. If you went back to your Resource Centre and looked at the original resource you started to edit you will see it is blank, this is because this is the resource that has been shared with you and your own completed version is not a resource but an asset. Any work you are either in the process of completing or have completed will be in the Asset Store under your By Me tab. 16. Open the asset by clicking once on the name of the asset and then on the Edit button. Notice you have a lot more options available to you now that you own that asset. For now we just want to edit the asset that we created. the ASA E-Learning 2013. All rights reserved. P a g e 12
17. Now you can see that the asset you created is a copy of the resource but has your work in it. Remember, this is still your own personal work and no-one else can see it yet. You can keep going back to it and opening it up and editing it until you are happy with it. Once you are happy for your tutor to see the work you can submit it. SUBMITTING YOUR WORK 1. In the top left hand corner of the asset you have created you will find a button, depending on the type of resource you have been working, this button design will vary but the menu options will be similar.
